Everyone is correct. This problem we now have on OOTB had a very simple and easy fix to it, but, there are many here that opted not to use that simple and easy fix. Folks got tired of political threads, folks got tired of reading the posts from those folks, folks got tired of a full page of political threads. Here's the genuine remedy --> Use the ignore function that Rivals provides you with.
I couldn't stand reading a certain posters political threads he started, but, I respected his right to start them. On the OOTB front page under Out Of The Blue there's something written in small print, here it is:
Carolina Blue's Free Off-Topic Board - The place to talk about anything you want!
"anything you want (exclamation mark).
In growing tired of his nonsensical so and so is going to prison threads I put him on 'ignore', lo and behold, as soon as I did so, his threads and his posts disappeared entirely, he became invisible to me, out of sight and out of mind. PROBLEM SOLVED.
I didn't have to run to a Mod, email AJ or anything like that sort. I had complete control over the narrative and content put forth by that poster. For all intents & purposes, in my own way, I had essentially 'banned' him from my sight. I have in the past few weeks put 2 other posters on 'ignore' because I was no longer interested in anything either of them may have contributed to the board.
I don't see any threads that they may have started . . none are even visible. I don't see or have to read their posts.
I read a few complaints from some on this board about my starting threads of any nature, I explained to them it would be less annoying and non-confrontational for them to just put me on 'ignore' . . I would be invisible to them. In fact, I begged and pleaded for them to do so, but, they opted not to use that simple and easy fix. Why not ? . . I have no idea.
In my opinion here, they were the childish posters that wanted to continue on complaining in opting not to put me on 'ignore'. It was that easy of a fix to their complaints. End of Story. Case closed.
Not everyone on the board has to join in on the Atlanta Braves thread, or the golf thread or #1UNC's religious thread. Skip over what you wish to. No one here is subjected to a 'required reading' of every thread.
Once again, when you put someone on 'ignore', they truly become invisible, their threads are no longer on the page.
Those 'handful' of posters that created political threads that everyone came to dislike so much, put that handful on ignore. Problems solved.
Have a great day.
