Movies that are "GREAT" that I just don't get the appeal...

I assume you're talking about the cartoon? If so then yes, it's good. They are coming out with another one soon.

Yes. I saw that a new one is coming out. We never can let well enough alone. The sequel might be decent. But it has a chance of kind of ruining the first one too.

I saw a really intense American POW film recently- Rescue Dawn. Christian Bale and Steve Zahn. It was based on a true story of a German-born (he was born in Germany during WWII) American pilot who was shot-down VERY early in the Vietnam War, and his fellow inmates had already been there for several years! Hands-down the worst treatment I've seen of POW's on film. And, the guy who played Upham in Saving Private Ryan is in it and he lost an obscene amount of weight to play the role.

Couldn't get through Avatar.

Loved Titanic. Just the sinking effects are worth it. My gf and I saw that in the theater 3 times.

Agreed. And you don’t have to be a movie buff to appreciate the cinematography. I took my gf at the time to see the imax redo, it was pretty impressive.

There was one scene that was good in Titanic. Other than that, it just isn't that good to me. Some people have it on "best" lists.

I wouldn't put it on a Top 10, or even 20, list, I don't think. But, that sinking lasts about an hour or more. You get a feeling of what it was like, I think. And, when it came out, it was more of a draw... like, it was trendy. I know people who hate it because of that song and refuse to watch it because of that song. I barely noticed that aspect.

To answer the OP:

The Departed
American Beauty
The Florida Project
and the first one to come to mind and, IMO, the most overrated of all time, Citizen Kane

Only seen No Country once. Need to see it again before I can decide. Gangs is good, but it is a little overrated. Never seen Raging. I'm not 80.
I’m also not 80 and I saw Raging Bull (try to restrain your shock :p)

Gangs has a great performance from DDL, a pretty solid DiCaprio performance, and a total miscast in Cameron Diaz. Story drags at times but overall, it’s pretty solid.

No Country is good until the ending which is frustrating. Javier Bardem is great as the villain though

Gangs is great, but probably an hour too long (sensing a trend here).

Agree on Cameron Diaz, awful awful casting.
