Full disclosure -- just trying to give coolwater an easy thread to mimic. ;)

Seriously, though -- word of advice for any of you guys looking for a challenge. Don't attempt to move over the holidays. I'm currently in the process of selling our home and moving into a rental for 5 months until we get transferred to Charleston. As hyped as we are for the move, this process straight sucks balls.

Oh, Happy New Year, fockers! Don't get too drunk and leave the hookers & blow alone. Not worth it.

Moving is the hardest and most stressful job I've ever done.

It's for work and I can't stand the climate in VA. I'm a beach person...the mountains just don't do it for me.
Charleston is good, but the surrounding areas are even better (Mt. Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, etc.) You'll love it. Plus Columbia is only 75 minutes away!!!11!!!!!1!!!

We are looking at Mt Pleasant actually. I've only been down there 2-3 times but lived inn wilmington for 8 years...the feel around Charleston is very similar. We can't wait!

Mt. Pleasant is awesome. That whole area is. Charleston itself is super touristy now, but the overall area is awesome. Plus, I like how convenient it is to other coastal attractions like Savannah, Wilmington, etc.

I figured work had something to do with it. What do you do? Did they ask you to move or did you put in a request?

I put in the request to be official but I run an event rental company with a couple guys I went to high school with...they knew I was going to make this move when we set everything up though, so it's no surprise. Just feels like purgatory when you're waiting for it to pan out.

Well I hope it all works out favorably for you. Moves are tough, but with a family worry about they're even tougher. Hang in there, man.

I moved recently into our mother in laws ( switched houses). The move was terrible. Myself and one friend moved everything out of her house and everything out of mine. Bad part, we recently closed down a clothing store and her rooms were filled with racks, merchandise, and miscellaneous crap. All 6 bedrooms filled.

Took 3 weeks with my 24 foot trailer to finish it up. Lotta attic work. If I move again, I will hire movers. Period.
