NC Central takes the opening kickoff and in a seven minute drive score to take a 7-0. Big plays were a 34 yard pass and personal foul for roughing the QB.
Carolina gets one first down before having to punt. UNC already with 4 penalties with 5 minutes left in the first period
UNC holds but will start their second possession from their own five. Their first possession started from their own ten
Three passes and three incompletions and Carolina must punt again and on the punt Carolina recovers a muffed punt by Central. Criswell now in at qb
Nesbit interfered with and Carolina now is deep in Centrals red zone at the 17 as the first period ends 7-0 for the visitors
Hampton burst thru the line for the score. Boyd subbing for Burnette whose leg is wrapped and on the sideline hits the extra point 7-7
Penalty number 7 on Carolina for 40 yards total but the Tar Heels get a three and out with 13 minutes left in the half
Criswell very impressive on this Carolina drive as he leads the Heels to another score as Hampton bulls in from the two and another Boyd extra point 14-7…
Evans gets a monster sack as Carolina makes a tremendous goal line stand forcing a 35 yard field goal and it is 17-10 at the half to complete a 14 play drive. Helped immensely by penalties
Carolina on a 4th and 5 at the Central 38 fail to get the first down to open up the second half. Copenhaven who caught three passes on the drive drops one right in his hands

Criswell finds Copenhaven his 5th catch of the game who fights his way into the end zone and Carolina goes up by 14 at 24-10
