NC Central *can* beat KU

This you're wrong on, especially if you consider "value in kind" of what all he's getting at Wichita State besides his salary. Moo can't match it. Hell, we couldn't match it.

To wit (link here) :

In his new deal signed last year, he gets (emphasis mine) :

• Base salary increases to $3 million this year.

• Base salary increases to $3.5 million in 2018.

• Marshall’s potential bonuses include $100,000 for reaching the Final Four and $200,000 for a national championship.

Two courtesy cars.

• Complimentary memberships at Flint Hills National Golf Club, Crestview Country Club and Genesis Health Clubs.

• 16 complimentary tickets to each home game, used at his discretion.

• Usage of a private plane for recruiting trips.

• Charter jets for the team to travel to away games. A charter bus can also be used for away games to certain destinations and within a certain radius of Wichita.

Three personal flights on a private aircraft anywhere in the continental U.S. each contract year.

• Salary pool of $623,000 to spend on three assistant coaches and a director of basketball operations.

• The opportunity to gain additional income through camps, endorsements and speaking engagements.
Two things. First, between the university and private donors we would have no trouble matching and exceeding that in basketball. It would take all of 5 minutes to come up with that kind of package. Second, state might not be able to do some of that, but they can offer a brand new tractor and free hay rides for life.

Dammit. @bleeduncblue beat me to the tractor joke.

Being here in Derm I pay a lot of attention to Coach Moton and the Eagles ... have seen them play live several times this year. They have talented upperclassmen with a lot of confidence and play VERY good defense nearly all the time. I really hope they play well and win on Wednesday night and get to play KU .... I'm telling you that it could be one of the toughest 1 vs 16 match ups ever. I'm thrilled that KU may get them and not our Heels.

One thing for darn sure, I will be rooting for Lavell, he is one of the good guys. Love to see him get a bigger gig, no way he would jump to the wuffies.

Umm ... by definition wouldn't that mean they'd have to beat us at least a little bit more often? I'm not with you on that.
Here is the Catch-22. I completely agree with @bleeduncblue's statement of "it's fun whipping them but I'm also old enough to remember when the rivalry mattered and was competitive and I wouldnt mind that again."

I would like for the rivalry to become somewhat meaningful again nationally, but as you point out, for it to become competitive again, Moo would have to win some games more often. Obviously I don't want that.

I guess one thing that could happen is Moo could win a ton of games against everyone else and just lose to us every time. Now what does that rivalry sound like.......

They can "be competitive" and not win ... right?

Oh screw it ... I want them to keep on beating us once every 19 tries .... and when we win, I want it to be by 40 or more points!

I hope they are not able to lure Marshall to Cowtown, I just have a hunch that it will happen.

From what I have been told Marshal's teams win a lot but he is a total "A" hole that rubs a lot of folks raw. Have a friend that worked on his staff for couple years and flatly shares that Marshal is a real problem more to those around him than opposing teams. His attitude vs the expectations by wuffie fans, a powder keg waiting to explode if put together, not the worst thing for tar Heel fans to be able to enjoy!
