A lot of discussion on the TBS pregame....I didn't like the sound or tone of what was said...has something changed I missed? For some reason I thought the women's program caught the wrath and that football vand basketball were free?

No- they just needed something to talk about. It was obvious they had no idea what they were discussing as the conversation quickly went to players graduating, which has never been alleged to have been an issue.

I didn't see it, but did any of the people discussing it have any affiliation with UNC whatsoever? If not, then I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

I'm more interested to know what the hell has happened since we were amending our response with some information about "Men's Soccer". Especially since that was over 7 months ago....

Kenny Smith, but he didn't say too much other than he always had to go to class and that recruiting with the NCAA investigation is tough on Roy

Yep. Pretty clear that neither Barkley or Kellogg had any idea what they were talking about. "Trying NOT to graduate players"?? They both lost me with that comment. And Barkley has admitted in the past that the only reason he passed his classes at Auburn was because he was a great player. So his fake outrage is hilarious.

Kellogg and especially Barkley don't have a clue. Those dolts were just spouting off the same crap that the doochies and wolpfack do.

Roy made it clear that men's basketball had NO involvement whatsoever, and that the LOCAL MEDIA (read: N&O) and negative recruiting has been tough to deal with. How awesome would it be to bring home the belt in the face off all this crap?

Air is rather smelly around here. I think someone, perhaps one of the many ignorant dolts out there, just threw up on himself.

The moou-Dukies-yUK-VT fans are NOT going to be happy. They have all listened to the media instead of getting the FACTS. Shame on the media.
I really , really hope you are right. I got into a really tense argument with an ABCer right before the UNC-ECU baseball game and he claimed we will get major sanctions in May. He claimed he had inside info and I told him he was full of shit. He got so mad that he told me he would SMD if it wasn't true. I told him it was very disturbing to think that was the way that he wanted to pay losing a bet and that shut him up.

FACTS......LMAO......Memphis had its banner removed because a player that had been previously cleared by the NCAA may have cheated on an entrance exam. They embarrassed an entire school and tarnished a coach that had already had to deal with what Marcus Camby did to him.

You guys have been systematically sending various student athletes through sham classes for years if not decades and not a sniff of anything regarding punishment from the NCAA has been thrown your way.

Kentucky and Calipari would have received the death penalty! Your team shouldn't even be in this tourney......it's a disgrace to the sport and a slap in the face to every college basketball fan around the nation. Like it or not, everyone now refers to you as UNCheats.....enjoy it.....you more than earned it!!!!!
BUTT HURT Ken fan. Did you get kicked off your own board? I almost feel sorry for you. Well not really.

Well you guys are the only program in history of cbb to get the death penalty so there is that for you ti hang your hat on

Dan dickitch and Bob Kravitz (Indy reporter/IU grad) are butt hurt and talking crap about the allegations after the game. Hell dickitch is know saying Dean retired because of Rasheed Wallace. That's a new one on me. Not sure why it would take him 2 years to retire after Sheed left if that was the case.

All these hack journalists trying to hate on UNC. It is an academic issue, not an athletic issue. NCAA has stuck its nose in something that it has no right to. I fully expect the NCAA to try to hammer UNC. Any decent lawyer would have a field day with the NCAA. I have a feeling this is going to play out over several years in court. UNC will ultimately win. UNC has already been hurt on the recruiting trail. But hey, all those recruits that were lied to, where are they right now? at home watching the heels play in the final four!

Emmert making a statement over the week-end was like warming up the room...someone better watch out over to west rawlee and up to derm when it comes out...just sayin'....

I just want to know why our coaches field questions from individuals who smear UNC with this bs. Why haven't press credentials revoked for N&O, Charlotte Observer reporters? If they can be revoke, just tell the coaches not to answer any of their questions. Screw them along with Seth Davis and others who continue to spread this bs.

I agree, I do not believe Roy or any player should address this issue at all regardless of the questions.

My greatest concern is that our team will have to play 5 against 8 this weekend. I would have to think the NCAA does not want UNC to win it all.

I think the reason why basketball gets the most scrutiny in this is two-fold.

1. UNC Basketball is by far its most famous sport and we're in a Final Four.
2. The original accuser was a UNC men's basketball player (won't even utter his name anymore)

It looks bad when a member of the 05 championship team says he took paper classes and an NCAA investigation concludes that there were paper classes going on at the university. Whether more players or coaches were involved is a moot point to some outside of the program. If that was all I knew and it happened to Duke I'd be trashing them too.

Hopefully the NCAA rules in our favor in June after the see all of the FACTS and this is behind us.

Interestingly, all the information on academics and AFAM is out there for public review in the public record.
Many fans, apparently, do not read past dspn reporting or listen to anything beyond ill informed talking heads on dspn, TBS or CBS.
So as it is, far more people are spreading the falsehoods that abound regarding our University and academic issues stemming from AFAM.
In Roy's presser the reporter didn't even get out a questions so much as he muddled through a half question whereupon Roy answered. Very disjointed. And disappointing.
The story should be about the student/athletes and the final four. Great Universities involved and some good kids. I hope the news cycle swings back ahead of this week-end.
Hey, dadika, ol' Emmert opened the door slightly this past week-end...I think we (UNC) are going to be okay.

Many colleges have paper classes. Who cares?

Classes were just too easy. And guess what. Many colleges have easy classes.

The class was represented by whats her name as having an instructor and students physically in attendance in a classroom when neither was true. Thats where the fraud comes in.

Right, but the classes in question were open to everyone, not just athletes.

It's my understanding that taking the class is not a NCAA violation. Where athletes can & will get into trouble is if "special" favors were made to get them into a class, if they exceeded the amount of independent study hours & grades being changed to keep athletes eligible... Too my knowledge UNC men's basketball did none of the above.
No one can argue that MBB players took the classes but they were a approved accredited course offered by the university at that time.

if you need 10 hours to be eligible and you have 12 you can have 2 hours thrown out and still be eligible to play.

The only way it could be a NCAA violation is if those classes were offerred ONLY to athletes or if coaching staffs steered their players to those classes. Neither happened in Men's basketball or football. No matter how easy the classes may have been, the difficulty of the classes or what was expected from the class work is not within the NCAA's authority. We can talk for days, weeks, months and years on should it be but the fact is as I write this and absolutely when those questionable classes were going on they were not in the NCAA's realm of authority.

It doesn't matter how much you or anyone else feels those classes should not have been offerred, the fact of the matter is the NCAA can and could never have had any authority unless the athletes were proven to have been steered to those classes by the coaching staff or the AD and that has not been even hinted as happening in men's Basketball or football, now womens basketball may have an issue.
