Wagner shooting 60%, beating Howard (28%) fairly good. And Wagner has yet to shoot a FT. Howard was down by 17; 13 currently, trying to take momentum

After being down by 17 in the 2nd half, Howard cut Wagner's lead to 1 with less than 20 seconds left. On their last possession, they had 3 3ptr attempts to tie it; all misses. 71-68, Wagner.

We should press them from the tip off. They are short players and can’t handle the pressure.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how a 4 or 5 star player would even consider playing at va.Yeah Bennett is a good coach Yada yadda...but their offense is brutal...if they miss shots...like they have done for the last month or so they are unwatchable

With the possible Arizona/UNC Caleb matchup, the last kid I worked with from the group (one over season doing great, one degree after D1 doing great in buisness) Jay is still playing in D 1, Jermaine Cousinard @ Oregon, has a similar round 1 matchup against South Carolina.

So happy for him, and after the injuries and his mother's cancer fight ( similar to Dawson Garcia) that he struggled with BIG TIME wanting to be there, very real struggle, although some here dismiss that type pull. Anyway, leading scorer at Oregon, playing a bit out of position at point, team got healthy, they match up with his old team in the 1st round. Go Ducks, and go Lil' Jay !!!!! Well, not so lil' anymore. Love the game, love the tournament !!

Check out moo’s very creative collection of t-shirts from their “improbable run” through the acct 🤣. The one that really stands out is the “not a rivalry” shirt. Maybe UNC should come out with one that says “A blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then” or “A blind squirrel gets lucky too”.

Well they're right about one thing.... it's not a rivalry when you lose 85% of the time to your Daddy.

Some Wagner stats (ranks relative to NCAAT teams.
  • Worst Strength of Schedule (keep this in mind as you read the rest of the stats); 22nd worst Non-conference SOS (sad that there are power conference teams with worse Non-conf SOS, *ahem* TCU, IASt, Texas Tech, Nebraska, BYU, South Carolina, Miss. St, just to name a few)
  • Lost 2 games (won 4) vs. Non-Division 1 teams
  • 4-0 in games with FG% >= 50 (2-0 vs. Div1 opps)
  • 7-0 in games with 3FG% >= 40 (5-0 vs. Div1)
  • 13-11 in quad 3 & 4 games
  • 0-2 in games vs. top 100 NET opponents (Only 2 quad 1 games)
  • 1-4 in games vs. top 200 NET opponents
  • Their pace is very similar to UVA (ranks 2nd in fewest possessions/game)
  • They are 3-4 in games with >= 68 possessions (only 1-3 vs Divison 1 opponents)
    • have not exceeded 71 possessions in any game this season (UNC averages ~72/game)
    • Control the tempo and they won't have a chance
  • Only 17% of their points come from FT's - ranks 14th fewest (tied with UK and MichSt)
  • Over 31% of made FG's come from 3ptrs - ranks 16th(T-1)
    • but their 3FG% is only 33% as a team (rank 65th)
    • Over 38% of shots are 3ptrs (rank 27th (T-3))
  • Avgs 10TO/g (18th fewest; but ranks 33rd in TO/possession ratio)
  • 2nd poorest offensive efficiency (99.7 pts/100pos); Value is only 97 vs. Div1 opps
  • Worst True FG% in the field (48.7%; UNC is 55.5%, tied for 43rd)
  • 20th worst rebound margin (+1.5)
  • Avg 11.5 OReb/G (UNC has 12.1 avg)
  • 25th best Assisted FG% (UNC ranks 46th)

Michigan St were up by 11 late in the first half and hold a 7pt lead over Mississippi St at half time

Nice that we'll know our second round fate and who we'd play if we win in the first couple hours of the tournament.

I know the Heels need to worry about today’s game, period. That said, more worried me about Miss St than Mich St. if we get to second round.

Nevada just showed why I can’t stand when UNC tries to melt the shot clock. Nevada was up 17 points with 7 minutes and change to go and Dayton starts to press them. Steve Alford continuously tries to keep slowing the game down and Nevada lets the game escape from their tight hold and loses to Dayton on a 24-4 final run. Ouch!!! That game will haunt Nevada for a long time

Do we have to cheer for Kentucky as long Duke is alive? Starting to fear a bit nauseated at the thought

Sincere mutual interest plus posse/ parental strife plus enrollment in Kanye West fake and then defaulted school equal UNC loss of interest.

Oakland (vs UK) trying to make SEC schools 0-3 on the day. Tennessee will play later. Sorry to Oakland for jinxing you

Can someone summarize Rob Dellingham’s recruiting? Were we ever in the mix?
We were the favorite when he lived in Charlotte and had Jeff McInnis for a head coach. There was a time when everyone thought our 2023 class would be Dillingham and GG Jackson.

But then he got a new mentor, an ex-felon, who moved with him out west to attend Kanye West's school (which shut down a couple months later.) Hubert could see how shady the recruitment was becoming so he quickly offered Simeon Wilcher who looked like a 5-star PG prospect at the time. Sim committed quickly.

To be fair, both teams were clueless.
it's not unusual for the slower team to pull all their players off the lane and get back to avoid letting the more talented team get a fast break.

Kentucky is the team that literally threw the rebound out of bounds and turned it over. Don't think you can "both sides" this one.
