Am I hearing this correctly?
Since the Ohio St game on Saturday we have "dropped" two spots to #26 while they have "risen" 11 spots to #14.

Yeah, the results around the league and the Michigan game dropped us. Nothing happens in a vacuum. It is not a coaches poll.

We lost two spots in kenpom by not doing as well as expected versus Michigan.

Michigan may have been a tier 3 team so far I think, tier 3's can only hurt you, maybe they were a tier 2, which is a push type game.

The ACC as a whole is going into conference play with mostly poor performances. That will make it difficult to rise for most, and easier to drop with a loss, or have others pass you with possible quality wins on their schedules. Many more chances for harmful tier 3 or even 4 losses then helpful tier 1 wins the rest of the way in the ACC.

Just checked, Michigan was and still are in the 80's, a tier 2 on a neutral is 51 - 100. Charlotte was technically a neutral court, but that was really a home game in all reality, which would of made them a tier 3. Either way a no help win for the NET. The Ohio State win was huge, because it was our only tier 1 win.

Bama, Indiana, or Iowa State losing and dropping could hurt, but it looks like others just behind UNC just added a quality win. Ah, VA. Tech bad loss to BC definitely is the big one. Although not huge since it was on the road, still a tier 2 loss.

VA. Tech is still easily a tier 1 at this point. All 4 loses are solid tier 1 loses at this point. Being 1-4 against tier 1 isn't great, but not big time harmful. Probably only guarenteed to be 4 tier 1 opportunities left in regular season conference play (2 with Duke and the 2 with Virginia ). Maybe NC State @ State? We do not play Miami @ Miami. Gotta get some of those, and avoid the many tier 3 type slip ups we will face.

Losing four in a row kind of hurts your ranking for a while. Even winning four in a row after that doesn't overcome the impact.

When we beat pitt, we likely will drop a little too based on the vacuum
Pitt actually can help in the short run at least. They are 69/70 in the NET at present, not sure if they will remain there all season, but playing 1 -75 team at their place qualifies as a tier 1.

More NET rankings nonsense.
And for those who don't like me bringing it up, go jump off a bridge.
They have less losses. They have 4 losses by a combined 15 points total (1 was in OT) and one of those losses is to the #1 overall in the net rankings.

If you really wanted to pick a team to better make your argument you would have chosen Creighton at 20.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion. St. Mary's is indeed slotted lower in Kenpom where they are #7, UNC is higher as well at #28 in Kenpom, so only 21 different there.

I can't accept any "opinion" as rational with these rankings. Just can't do it.

That is why everyone has an opinion, and those alone will often vary. There are numerous formats out there though to take some of the subjectivity out of it, and they mostly fall in that range, so in the respect the NET is not an outlier.

You would be more in line with BPI where St.Mary's is 15 and UNC 28. Even more the RPI UNC 18 St.Mary's 20, but RPI does seem like the outlier.

It is way too complicated for me so I pay absolutely no attention! Winning games would seem to be a good way to climb and I couldn't care less what each opponent is ranked! I hate the idea that a win could be good when it happens and then lose impact later! This to me is stupid since it should only count where they were at the time! I understand that a win near the end of the season carries more weight than the beginning but once it is over it should stay where it was!
