Apparently, that's the plan. What are your thoughts? Dumb in my opinion. I know the Dome and it's parking situation has some flaws, but it's still a Top 5 Arena in the Nation. Easy access for all students.

Not enough luxury amenities, no convenient dining. Whole new generation of wealthy alums who want to get the good seats. I heard a 16,000 seat mixed-use venue near MLK/Estes drive is the idea being pushed.

Guess it would mean fewer empty seats if things continue.

The Dome is now 1.3 miles from Franklin Street…The site they are talking about is 1.6 miles from Franklin Street…Carolina North is the spot…They will also be able to develop around the area as well…The Dome is outdated and needs to be replaced…

It’s nice to have a Leader in Charge like Mr. Roberts…

Ya know what UNC SUCKS at?

UNC absolutely SUCKS at tailgating, for good reason, the parking situation. There is nothing like the atmosphere created by tailgating for a home football game. Want some culture shock, go to the first home game for the gamecocks, doesn't matter who they play! It is simply an amazing thing to experience and UNC fans are missing out on it. Will they move Kenan off campus to, IDK, maybe one day. But if you can tailgate for football you can darn well tailgate for basketball to, pop the keg and fire up them brats! A better parking situation could allow that. It takes things from a game to be played to an event.

A new basketball home is needed, love the idea that it can be multi use, bring in concerts and other events just off campus, students would LOVE that! Non-students would love a short walk to their car and not have to wait on busses. More folks would come because of the less hassle to get in to the building. Build it with the top of mind thought to be getting the students down on the floor, put rowdy back in to a UNC home game like only the students can do, give us back that home floor advantage rather than sticking the students up in the nose bleed sections and build in the sweet luxury boxes for the big donors with a complete menu of fine wines and cheeses for their pleasure. But let the TV cameras show a crowd going CRAZY, sell that from the Atlantic to the Pacific, show it all across SEC country? LOL

Yeah, build it off campus, I am fine with that but I would leave room for a football venue next door to it!

There will be more luxury seats than student seats at the new off campus arena.

Students are also going to have a terrible time getting to the new arena.

Man I hear ya. I just thought I knew what tailgating was until I moved to north Alabama 20 years ago. Ol Miss and Auburn on game days are as good as it gets. I’m not a sec fan but they do it well.
