Political unrest resulted in 25 deaths - that's a drop in the bucket. The 2020 protests are hardly worth mentioning when looking at violent crime increases in 2020. Police changed some of the patrol-routes and responsiveness during the pandemic, that just as easily be blamed. Socio-economic issues are always part of the prob, and stress/econ issues from the pandemic are prob to blame also.
I kinda discarded gunslingers "defund the police" comment as bait. The phrase doesn't have a uniform definition you can't be a "party line" and you can't be implemented if something has so many different meanings. And the gop talking points on "defund the police" are misleading and exaggerated.
Regardless, violent crime went up EVERYWHERE in both blue & red cities and states - not just Portland and Minneapolis.

Some people claim the gun type makes no difference or impact on the response of cops and security officers, but in this case it did. That's my only point.
just to be clear; that cop was convicted, but it was no way proven that he killed him. It wasn't even proven that what the cop was doing COULD have killed him. There was just no way that he was going to get a fair trial, and there was no way anyone was going to have the guts to give honest testimony in favor of acquittal. He was scapegoated, he was railroaded, and he was figuratively lynched. All over a steaming pile who was effectively killing himself.
The cop was wrong to hold Floyd down as long as he did, and he deserved some degree of punishment for that. But he didn't murder him.

right...but the testimony was that too much pressure was applied to his neck, and common sense dictates that no observer could possibly tell what pressure was being applied, especially one not directly witnessing the incident.
The preliminary autopsy report noted that airway restriction caused by pressure on his neck was NOT the cause of death, but that was changed for the actual report, IIRC. This was a de facto lynching.
It's no different than a fighter who comes to the gym every day to throw jabs at his favorite punching bag.
