OOTB's Political Thread . ..

I'm also not surprised that this partisan judge allowed her to testify about something completely irrelevant and prejudicial to the defendant. I'm not even surprised that he then failed to grant a mistrial after her testimony. I AM surprised you fell for it and are treating it like solid gold.
haven't you been paying attention? If Heels Noir told him that Trump shot Kennedy while having sex with an aardvark, he'd willingly fall for it

is that what Hillary told you? Just STFU with your condescending and hypocritical lecture on how the system 'works' .

.And an additional **** you for disingenuously not acknowledging the completely obvious, that this is nothing more than a political lynching timed to interfere with Trump's hope of returning to the presidency.

You got some balls on you though, to be able to whine about insurrection and threats to 'our democracy' even while our democracy is being trashed and made a mockery of by your ilk.

And in case I forgot to mention it, fvck you. No I'm not mad, just disgusted to have to breathe the same air as such jerkoffs.
Waaaaaay "falsifying biz records = crime" isn't fair.
Waaaaaay "falsifying biz records for sake of concealing or committing another crime = big crime" also isn't fair.

In this country we have rules around campaign finance/contribution to ensure we have a decent idea of what we're getting when we Americans vote for candidates. They're called laws, you face penalty if you break them.

Evidence suggests Trump was falsifying records as part of a broad scheme to improperly influence the 2016 election, and that is flat-out defrauding American voting. Americans deserve protection from that type of fraud.

So you're still open to the possibility that Donald Trump paid the woman $130,000 not to have sex with him? Riiight.
In yet another effort to prove that you either don't actually pay attention to actual events, or possibly another fail at humor, no one paid anyone for sex (at least in the traditional prostitute/call girl scenario). There has never even been an allegation that he paid her for sex.

Trump and Stormy did whatever they did, whether that was simply her trying to get on Apprentice or him recreating one of her movies, we will likely never know for certain. Later, she wanted paid because she had something to sell besides her body. She had a story to tell and it didn't matter to her whether she went public and got paid or whether she got paid to keep her mouth shut for once. Cohen paid her and she signed a NDA, something perfectly legal and used rather commonly.

The issue is whether that payment was in some respect illegal. There are only about 250,000 articles analyzing that aspect if you want to review them. Here's the summary: most legal experts believe this argument to be fishing in some very deep waters and will ultimate prove to be unsuccessful in terms of a conviction. Of course, that is at the end, after he is convicted and forced to have it turned over on appeal (after the election). The actual purpose will have been served by then.

So, no, I am not open to the possibility that he paid her any money to not have sex with her.

You may as well be explaining molecular biology to these dimwits.

Why did Michael Cohen serve time in prison?

jesus christ, are you being stubbornly deflective or are you just stupid? You're lecturing about the system working as it should and completely ignoring that with Hillary, it worked as it shouldn't. Additionally, you're ignoring that behind the current Trump persecution, is an accounting move made by the hundreds everyday with absolutely nothing but yawns coming from any D.A. That the move was made, allegedly, to enhance election chances is not in and of itself a crime. No candidate is required to reveal everything there is to know about himself unless asked as part of an official investigation, and if there isn't a crime, there is no investigation. And paying someone to not reveal something as general knowledge is also not a crime. It would have been a crime had he lied about it under investigation, or if the move was made to cover up a crime.

And as you also keep ignoring, the feds passed on pursuing it.

I'm a hockey fan, and in particular a Canes fan. Last night they lost due to a questionable penalty call. The talking head TV referee said 'well, after all it was an infraction.' I wanted to punch him in the face for that politically correct and hypocritical and self-serving answer...because it wasn't that the infraction wasn't technically an infraction, it was that the infraction occurs dozens of times in every game without being called. If the system works as it should, it should work consistently and not selectively.

Why did Michael Cohen serve time in prison?
My recollection is that he was convicted of tax evasion, fraud, campaign violations, and lying under oath to Congress. And yes, some of the campaign part of that involved Trumpie and blondie. Not sure which ones actually came with jail time versus fines or slaps on the wrist. Don't remember if there was other stuff without looking it all up, but you can YouTube it I'm sure.

In a normal scenario, I'd say the prosecution were idiots for relying so strongly on such a man as their key witness. Of course, all bets are off in a jurisdiction where people voted 9 out 10 for Joe and the case was assigned to a judge that has such deep connections to the D's.

Thank goodness for your recollection. Don't know for sure, can't remember... that's ideal.

It's just impossible that Donald Trump could have ever actually committed a crime that he's being tried for, and just happens to have had his attorney directly connected with the same circumstances who was also found guilty and served time in prison. None of the charges are substantiated or real. It's just a smokescreen by "the left" to keep him from being reelected. The man has been in court more than any human in history... but, he's just the victim. He's never actually committed ANY crime.

One thing is for certain, it is interesting to be able to watch people twist themselves into knots to justify their attachment to a political ideology. I never thought it was possible for people to go this far with it.

maybe you are just stupid. That was not a whataboutism. The Hillary comment was a rebuttal of your contention that the system is working as it should, when clearly it does NOT work as it should...and that when it does not work as it should but the malfunction favors your desired outcome, we don't see you mention it.

LOL, please change. Please acquire an appreciable IQ. so that every simple thing doesn't have to be explained to you.

I was hoping you would go there. As a matter of fact, I was counting on it. Try these...

why Cohen went to jail

more why Cohen went to jail

For starters, consider that he copped a plea, and then take it from there. Don't overlook the fact that prosecutors distorted the payments into campaign contributions, which is what that part of the arrangement involved.

And don't overlook that the same tactic was attempted with your boy John Edwards, except it failed completely because there wasn't something to hold over someone's head in order to coerce a deal.

I'm surprised you find this so entertaining though, considering how much you like having your ass spanked with a rolled up poster of Donald Trump.
Atlantic, pacific, whatever it takes

System worked great for Biden's classified docs that he was sharing with his ghost writer.

Well, push me over with a feather. A trial allegedly about an accounting entry that was criminally committed and a porn star gets up and tells a porn script story? I'm not actually surprised that she made such a claim. I'm also not surprised that this partisan judge allowed her to testify about something completely irrelevant and prejudicial to the defendant. I'm not even surprised that he then failed to grant a mistrial after her testimony. I AM surprised you fell for it and are treating it like solid gold. Orange may have done that, he may not. We'll never actually know one way or the other, but don't be a dope and take the word of an "actress" who shortly thereafter testified under oath that she is only about the money, is selling her story to a documentary that her proceeds will be paid to her daughter's LLC because she has no intention of ever paying the existing judgment against her held by the man she also admitted she hates.

This type of testimony is just one reason this verdict will ultimately be overturned. It will not matter, however, as the only intention is to be able to say conviction leading up to November. It's this election's Russia, Russia, Russia. A complete lie that will be revealed only after the minions have mailed in their ballots.
Daniel’s and trump are both proven liars. Idgaf if it actually happened or not. Just knowing that orange pos had to sit there fuming and hear that and know that image is seared on two hundred million brains is good enough for me. Chickens coming home to roost. Fukked around and found out. Reaping what you so. Karma. And so on

Well, he's the classic, entitled, narcissistic, dirtball, rich New Yorker. Hate to generalize like that because there are obviously fantastic people from everywhere. But ole orangeman isn't doing them any favors as a representative. That being said, he has likely committed numerous crimes, personal and business. Probably a 100 assaults on staff alone. But that comes with the caveat that any non-permissive touching without an otherwise applicable privilege constitutes assault. Whether we like that or not, rich assholes get away with that sort of thing. The issue for me on this stuff are the whys behind his prosecutions (vs everyone else) and the timing of it.

The consensual event with Stormy, whatever it was, happened in 2006. The payment by Cohen was 2016. It came out in 2018. (Imagine how many people she's banged over the years and is just sitting on it waiting for a financial windfall) Yet, here we are just months before an election in November, 2024, with a trial.

Does that not present as an issue for you in terms of a political hit job regardless of feelings about orange hitler?

sow, no so. Reaping what you sow. You don't 'so' your wild oats, do you? Do you sow wild oats at all? I never got exactly what that would entail. You get through boning some chick and then plant a few rows of oats? WTH is that all about?

I'm sorry, what were you saying?

That's a different take from before, and one that is totally legitimate. This is one area that his money and power don't leave him in control. It's got to be mindboggling to him.

I don't give two shits for John Edwards. I don't chain myself to these fukkin idiots and then have to defend them no matter what.
then why is he 'your boy'? Or maybe it was @blazers who was licking his nads recently. Anyway, thanks for the continued deflection. Did you bother reading those links?

Political hit-job? He got in the ring with these sleazy mutherfvckers. The more he gets on him, the more people like you defend him, defend "the rich assholes who get away with it", and perpetuate the whole game. I guess there must be some kind of pleasure in it. He'll be juuuust fine. Half the country will hate him, and his cult will remain his cult. They just dig in deeper and deeper. You gotta admit, it is interesting watching the American public split themselves in-half over their loyalty to this douchebag.

Let's see, first, there was no sex, next, there was sex, and finally, she was blacked out. She seems incredibly believable.
This is the part of her testimony that I can't believe people aren't crowing about. She has made it clear that she was not drugged or otherwise altered. But she testifies that she can't remember the act itself because she blacked out? I can hear orangeman now: "I'm so good/so big/so insert whatever here, they blackout when they're with me!!!!"

I guess it doesn't bother you. We've got two choices come November. They want to eliminate one, so we don't even have a choice. How can that not bother you?

And then there's this from our wonderfully neutral friends in the Federal agencies who have gone after him, both FBI and DOJ:
