OOTB's Political Thread . ..

You're right when you say, "This isn't 2020." Thank you, Donald Trump, for these fond memories . . .

You're doing it again. When comparing stuff, those things actually need to have a cause and effect connection. I hear that DJT has spent the last four years in his super secret lab, er Mar A Lago, perfecting the next virus that he plans to release on the world. Cause, he used the first one he made and released to get himself re-elected so he could continue as president.

Whoops, all that mismanagement and all those deaths that happened after he moved out of the WH, how did he do that? He really is impressive. Btw, that empty shelf that you showed in the photo, has it been refilled with baby formula yet? Also, for the slow of reading (you), the reference to 2020 was to the election that put the biden/HARRIS admin in office the last four resoundingly not so great years. You keep wanting to act like this is the Fall of 2020 and you are running the same election under a worldwide pandemic. Hide, have no press interaction, have campaign people spew out a bunch of words without any actual policy except that which gets universally panned. But we have their records of their policies. Watch what they do, not what they say. And what she has always done, has been a disaster. But keep cheering for her, she's wearing the correct jersey for you. And she's not orangemanbad.

if you’re defending someone claiming kids are coming home from school with sex change operations I can never take serious another word you say. It’s not rhetoric. It’s not exxagerations. It’s plain fuking English. You’ve hit rock bottom defending this lunacy.
I suppose under the guidelines you've set of using "plain fuking English", those same standards would apply to politicians falsely speaking about things like banning abortion, ending same sex marriages, ending interracial marriages, making health care unavailable, the inability to speak about gays in Florida, etc.? Because THOSE words of "plain fuking English" would not be "exxagerations" and are "not rhetoric"?

Or, perhaps, is it more accurate to say that you are holding Trump to your standard and not others? The bottom line is that they are all politicians who talk in rhetoric and exaggerate constantly. Much of it is on purpose to distort the position of the opposition, but much of it is simply to make the point of distinction. Finally and often times, it is to dumb it down because we like it to be simple for our brains and it's easier to get across on tictac, fakebook, and X.

Do I believe that boys show up in the nurse's office of their school to get their peckers chopped off? Of course not. Do I believe that there are school districts where not only those same boys are allowed to "explore" the possibilities with their predefined physical sex organs, encouraged to do so, allowed to do so, and potentially referred to resources to do so in an impactful, long-term manner, all without the knowledge of and against the wishes of their parent(s)? I do. Otherwise, this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

However, all of this is a much broader issue of the role of parents versus the role of government. In my view, schools are not substitutes for parents. Going down that road has been a huge mistake and we really have to explore whether that should be the role of schools going forward. Otherwise, why not just take it to its logical conclusion? Jane Doe has a baby. The government takes the infant away to be raised and become a member of society at some government care facility. Aren't all the issues of what is being taught in schools and what school employees have been doing the last couple of decades just steps along that road?

When's the last time there was news or a controversy because a school system produced students who knew too much geometry or could read at a very high level? Every bit of this discussion always comes back to school systems and their employees attempting to or fulfilling the need that has traditionally been served by a child's parents, family, and extended social structure. This is universal and not unique to our country. So, is the problem really something the schools should even be involved in at all or is it really a much larger problem that no one wants to address? Are the schools just a scenario for those with an agenda to take advantage of to advance their policies and beliefs?

I don't understand this comment other than a general desire to attack him. Last I saw, something in the 40 percentile still have actual cable TV services. Then, there is the large segment of people who's only real option for high speed internet is through the cable company because dsl isn't an option, satellite can be super expensive and has some inherent problems, and wireless might be poor as well. So, even if one streams "TV" through a service such as YouTubeTV, sling, or fubo, they have to have "cable" internet.

Assuming you had one, what's your point or suggestion?
My point was a general desire to attack him.

Except for the press interaction part (which Trump would be doing himself a favor to avoid those, too), this description sounds just like his current campaign.

Then you've got to start listening to other sources so the "description sounds" or is actually more accurate and complete. Watching people like Morning Bore and his wife only get you "information" like: this Joe Biden is the best Joe Biden, only to see him drop out ten seconds later. I don't fault you for not knowing things, I fault you for continuing to follow those that repeatedly mislead you.

Yeah, whatever.

What is Trump's tax policy if he is elected? What is his plan as far as implementing tariffs? I doubt FOX News has discussed these things accurately or truthfully, so you might have to do your own research before answering.

Trump is running for president to avoid his criminal trials and jail. That's his "policies."

Are kids coming home having discussions with teachers about such subjects unbeknownst to the parents? That, in and of itself is a bridge too far for me. So if anyone has to tell a lie or exaggerate a situation to bring about awareness of such things happening, so be it. I can support that.

There is absolutely nothing a teacher should ever address with a student that they don't address with the student's parent. If a kid comes to a teacher and says, "I'm having trouble reconciling my gender identity and my parents aren't supportive." The teacher's immediate response should be, "I'm calling a conference with your parents." And no more discussion is to be had until a parent is involved. Teachers aren't therapists. They're not friends. They're teachers and that's all they should be.

For four years the right has non stop ridiculed, bashed, attacked, seized upon, lost their shyt over ever single stumble, fumble, mispoken word, brain fart, and “wtf did he say” moment from biden. Yet when trump offers up the most “wtf” moment in the history of American politics….oh well you know you’re stupid, an idiot, it’s rhetoric. Fuking hilarious. Politics and religion makes hypocrites out of most anyone but maga has elevated it to an art form.

What is the most WTF moment in the history of American politics? I must have missed it.

All sane Americans agree the era of Trump is coming to a close. That said, lets not debate whether that is true or not but who do you MEGAs think will replace him as the head of the republican party? Please all non MEGAs like me, stay out of the discussion and let them have their say.

Make England Great Again? Or was England never great either?

his point is I embarrassed him by providing exactly what he challenged me to provide, and now he's grasping for some ointment to apply to his wounded woo woo. He won't get it from me, I don't have female parts....but he'll keep trying anyway because that thing must have gotten really lit up..

Thanks for saving me the trouble of putting him in the corner again. LOL.

What's the other option? Streaming? No thanks.

I don't watch much TV outside of sports, but when I do, I want to flip around. Like Jerry Seinfeld said about men, I don't want to watch what's on. I want to watch what else is on. I'll watch 10 minutes of Planet Earth. Then when that goes to commercial, I'll see Shawshank is on and I'll tune in for 10 minutes. But since I forgot I was watching Planet Earth, when TBS, which is airing Shawshank, goes to commercial, I'll then check in on House Hunters. Oh, this episode is in Dayton. No thanks, keep moving along. Ahh, Comedy Central is running a Seinfeld marathon and I love this one. It's the Bubble Boy episode. I'll watch the last 10 minutes of that and get a few laughs. The next episode is not one of my favorites. Let's see what else is on. Great, Sixteen Candles. This is my favorite part too when Farmer Ted is driving her around in the Rolls Royce.

Is this not how everyone watches TV?

"Is this not how everyone watches TV?"

it's exactly how I do it, and I don't want to wait five minutes for one channel to switch to another. Cable 1 streaming 0.

I can believe that is happening, but I would also say it's likely in very isolated cases and is more of a problem among some overly zealous teachers than the school systems. If you know otherwise I would be interested i. hearing about it.

To be honest, I had a pretty busy weekend and can't even remember what it was that I challenged you to. What I do recall is that you failed to do so but in TYPICAL fashion, you falsely claimed that you did. Just another day . . .

it's exactly how I do it, and I don't want to wait five minutes for one channel to switch to another. .
Five minutes? Oh, I get it. This is your TYPICAL exaggeration to make your stupid point. I was just trying to help since you seem unhappy about the same channel popping up every time you turn on your TV. Damned cable!

and within what system do those teachers teach? And what is that system's primary purpose if not to monitor what teachers are teaching? And if we only hear about isolated cases, hadn't we ought to think about what's below the tip of that floating thing that sank the Titanic? If we see smoke, shouldn't we assume that something is burning? If we see a lot of moss, shouldn't we assume that stones are rolling?

not unhappy at all about that same channel, I set it to do just that because of programs it provides like Nova and Nature. But if you turn it on at other times, you're likely to get liberal propaganda and underdog driven drivel like the show I mentioned.

And yeah, thanks for acknowledging my UNintentional demonstration of exaggerating for effect. Is it stupid to use such an effective device? Or is it even more stupid to deny that it is very routinely practiced (as I just did) and readily identified (as you just did) as what it is?

Lastly, the burn must have been bad if you supposedly can't even remember what you are butthurt over; but it's hilarious that even in your denial you manage to do what you always do.

Thanks for the reminder to check to see what century this is. How often do you check?

yeah, having observed his previous presidency doesn't help at all.

Can you use a few more nebulous clichés?

lol, I think it's what's inside your head that's nebulous. Except that last one that I threw in just so I could imagine you looking at it like a dog watching a ceiling fan go round and round.

Do you mean extending the tax cuts enacted through his 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which mostly benefitted the über wealthy?
I thought we were talking about having to research his policies to know them. You must have done some quick research.

But yeah, things like that that didn't cause runaway inflation. Things like keeping illegals on the other side of the border. Things like carrying a big stick and disallowing the breakout of hostilities all over the world. No research necessary.

That's where his moronic plan to implement tariffs comes into play.

Things like carrying a big stick and disallowing the breakout of hostilities all over the world.
Cozying up with Putin and Jong Un and Orbán is hardly what I would consider "carrying a big stick." Not just Americans but most of the world felt threatened by Trump's weakness as a leader.

Yeah all those new wars that were started during his time as president is proof of that.
