I would love to see Kennedy's jersey honored but the criteria are:
a player's jersey qualifies for honoring if he receives one or more of the following five awards: first- or second-team All-America on one of the major All-American teams that qualify a player for a consensus All-American designation, an ACC Player of the Year, the Most Valuable Player of a National Championship-winning team (as voted by coaches and teammates), the NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player of a Final Four team, or a gold medal in basketball at the Olympics.[4]

Those with connections to the team might do well put in a word with Kennedy's team mates and let them know what a MVP of the season could do for their Sr. Leader Meeks!

He embodies so many things that this team is all about-
Hard work, dedication, perseverance, family, brotherhood, loyalty.
For all the crap he has taken, some of it justified, for him to drag this team with him to the top of the mountain, to come into his own as a senior, to get to top 35 at UNC in all time scoring, 5th in all time rebounds, and to have become the vocal conscience of this group.......Let's get this done!

Would not surprise me if his mates and coaches did vote him MVP, I think it would be well deserved. He was the one guy that showed up every game played this season, without Meeks, we don't win this natty, without hi we don't get to the final 4. He is my MVP pick for this season...

If you agree with getting Kennedy this recognition, I suggest posting the link on your Facebook or Twitter accounts.
The obvious alternate candidates are Justin and Joel. But Kennedy was the other consistent force and crucial leg of the triad, and those guys have already received plenty of recognition.
So, while I certainly wouldn't argue against Justin or Joel, I think giving it to Kennedy makes sense.
If Kennedy had won the NCAA honor - which could have happened - then I would just as easily be signing a petition for Joel to get the team honor.

"Everybody" didn't finish top five in rebounding and top 30 in scoring at UNC, nor win a national title and play as well or better than anyone in the final four.
