Nobody else making an offer is what makes it more akin to being a diamond in the rough. McVay got offers cuz he's massive and young, some time left develop (not unlike the outgoing OT). Boone is massive too and i think got just one other P4 offer. Cristo... no other offers. And we're aren't sure what Lindberg from Rice's offers were, for all we know he and his agent kept things really quiet.

You can't really look at offers in the portal. Most players don't stay in the portal long enough to get a lot of offers and some of these deals are already in place before they have officially entered. You also have NIL factored in. A bigger school may want him, but not at the price he's asking.

The QB we got from VA from the tidewater area got a massive boost in ratings on TOS he is a now a 4 Star…

Crazy thing is he hardly had ANY offers. I think he had 2. That's crazy for the numbers that he put up.

I don't know what your definition is of diamonds-in-rough. Nobody had heard of Cristo, Boone is more of project, didn't have many other offers. Also, I'm not making assumptions based on name. McVay was at Bama, Lindberg was at UGA. Can't get bigger than that. McVay was taken for his size and athleticism rather than his production to date. He's certainly produced more than Rice who is also here due to size and athleticism, but that is a low bar.

Lindberg looks ok as a guard, nothing dynamite. But McVay, Cristo, and Boone don't look like instant impact starters, and I don't see why you'd feel their ceiling was better than the OT who left.

On3 lists when guys entered. Lindberg(10 days), Boone, McVay we're each public for over a week. Cristo entered thanksgiving.
But like I said, not all agents and players are public about offers, so that could be we why don't know of anybody else offering Lindberg

But word is that we have been very thrifty aside for QB, and we've been outspent on a bunch of guys we liked who visited but wound up at places like wvu, ucf, Texas Tech.
