If that idiot Fedora had started Elliott all year, we would have beaten Cal and had better offense all year and probably make a bowl this year - with all the injuries the same.

If he could have stayed healthy all year I think with Elliott we win 5 or 6 games this year. Still hoping for an upgrade next year (which could be Elliott improving his arm strength or someone else stepping up).

Wow! you had enough of Fedora?

I used to think you knew football, and I think you still do. But something has you on the crazy side lately.

Dude..................enjoy the win for FIVE SECONDS before going off on Fedora. Smh.

This season has had everything under the sun go wrong, and we finally were able to claw out a damn good win, on the road, in prime time. It's been hard enough on all of us without your ever-going two threads on how much you hate Fedora, that you won't let die.

Has this year been what we wanted? No.
Was this year ALWAYS going to be a re-building year? Yes.

I have no idea what's gotten into you lately, Woad, but you've gone off the deep end. You know a ton about football and its history, but I really don't know what's gotten you so irritated. Fedora ain't perfect by ANY means. NO ONE IS SAYING HE IS. But he's also achieved more here than anyone else has in 20 years.

If we go 5-7 or worse next season, I'll be the first to get in line and call for an investigation into his tenure, but right now, it's way premature.

Done with this trash thread.

This may win the award for the worst post I have ever seen on our boards. WTH are you thinking posting this immediately after we win.

Thank you. That's what has me pissed. IMMEDIATELY AFTER A WIN? C'mon dude. That's trash.

Sorry for the harsh words, but that pisses me off. Those players work too dang hard. I know they won't read this thread, but it annoys knowing how much those guys wanted this one tonight. Including, mind you, 18+ guys who have gone under the knife and had to endure the pain of some pretty gruesome injuries.

You are one retarded son of a bitch to make this about race.

Elliot is clearly the better QB between him Surratt and Harris.
You're obviously new here.

1. I prefer Elliott over Surratt and have said so all season. So chill on that one.
2. Woad has bitched on here for years about how Marquise sucks and we would've been great if not for Marquise.

I'm the last person to pull the race card, but I don't make Woad poast the crap he poasts. Calling it like I see it, bud.

My poast from February 20th of this year, on this board. But please, tell me more about how I'm a retarded son of a bitch.

It would be best for the program if Surratt lives up to the hype.....because the hype is so extreme.

I truly think that going into Spring and Fall camp, Nathan Elliott is the leader in the clubhouse for QB1. He has the most experience in the program and in this offense. He also ended the season as QB2.

I'd like to see Elliott win the job because I like to see hard work, loyalty, and perseverance rewarded. But if Surratt (or Byrd) is good enough to win the job, then I'm cool with that. I truly think Byrd could be utilized consistently as a change-of-pace Tebow QB. Watch his high school film if you haven't watched it when I linked it here a few times. The dude is a power runner just like Marquise. Their running styles look very, very similar.

Respectfully THN, Your response accusing somebody of defecto racism on the whole black QB thing is probably more alarming and stupid than Woad talking about Marquise or Harris not being all that good at the QB spot regardless of if we agree or not specially with Marquise. (Harris sucks and it doesn’t matter what color he is)

Eh, I overreacted a bit cuz it irritated me, I'll admit. This thread made me hot under the collar.

We'll call it correlation and not causation then because I had to read 835,000 of his poasts during the Marquise era about how much he sucked and all he was was a glorious tailback who could run between the tackle.

Hell, I wanted Trubisky to start over Marquise and his poasts still pissed me off.

This thread needs to be locked and deleted Mods. We all know from experience that once race is brought in it never goes away from that.

I've been here for a few years just never made an account until recently. I love Quise and he had a great career here, but you're crazy if you think he's half as good as Mitch is. There's a reason one is playing in the NFL and the other wont ever sniff the league. There were multiple times Mitch came in for Quise after he got his helment knocked off and made positive plays. Didnt he have the game winning TD against Virginia as a freshman or was it RS freshman? The TD against State after being colder than ice. He came in during the Clemson game and made a huge throw for a big gain. You throw Mitch behind the 2015 oline along with Quinshad, Mack, Switzer & Bug with the rushing season Hood had and we win more games then we do that year. I'm not saying we're playoff bound because our defense was a joke, but we sure as hell don't lose to little carolina. He's the reason we lost to them that year. Three INTs inside the opponents 25? IDC if Fed and the staff called passing plays (we should've handed the ball off to Hood) you do not force the ball where multiple defenders are. He's the reason we struggled in the first half against Clemson. I'll give it to him he turned it on in the second half but we needed a FULL game to beat Clemson. How many times did Quise over throw balls to wide open receivers? A LOT. Mitch can put the ball very few places a lot of QBs can. Mitch read defense a lot better than Quise did. He also threw the ball with anticipation. He knew where his wide receivers were going and he put the ball there. Just look to the game winning drive against Pitt last year. He threw that ball before Proehl came out of his break and put it right on the money where only he had a chance to catch it. He did that from the FAR hash mark. It's not that Quise wouldn't have made that throw it's that he COULDN'T make that throw.

I never said Quise was better than Mitch, man. Never. Not once. I actively campaigned on this board for Mitch to start over Marquise in 2014 (he probably wasn't ready yet then, though) and 2015.

You're 100% right Mitch is better, and you're 100% right Marquise is the reason we lost to SCar to start 2015. I'm not disputing that whatsoever. Fedora was ready to bench Marquise for good after the slow start against Tech in Atlanta in 2015 (remember, this was the game immediately after the rainy Delaware game where Larry yanked Marquise and Mitch played really well in relief). But then Marquise turned it around and 100% willed us to a win against Tech. He then willed us to several more wins that season where he put us on his back. I shut my mouth and supported him as the starter because we were winning.

Did I still think Trubisky was much better? Yes. Was Marquise limited on certain aspects of QB play? Yes. But Marquise was also a warrior. He had that "it" factor. He willed us to win some games we would've lost without him as QB1. It's something I admit I couldn't appreciate in the moment, but looking back after his career was over, I've grown a new appreciation for how gutsy (but imperfect) Williams' play was. But he also had his limitations. I've been very upfront about that on here.

But there was also stuff behind the scenes, in the locker room, that kept Fedora from being able to bench Marquise. That's fact. Remember, Mitch was recruited by Larry. Of course Larry would've preferred to roll with Mitch in a perfect world. But sometimes you have to keep your locker room happy.

All I'm saying, Woad has been at this ad nausea for 4 years. I'm beyond tired of it. He STILL references it relentlessly. This thread evoked such a strong reaction from me because of the timing. Right after a gutsy win. It's a bad look for this board, and for Woad, who I know loves Carolina Football.

Just for spite I'm gonna say this to WoadBlue, everyone else can ignore it:
Elliot ONLY did well tonight because the OL gave him protection, the WR held onto the ball, and coaches called plays which got WR open. Credit Kap, Brewer and Fedora for all of this.

Elliot was horrible last week vs a real defense.

Elliot had one or two nice passes and credit the work of Coach Heckendorf during the bye.

Look how amazing Chazz was in his first few games before he started getting sacked and concussed every other down. Harris is way more amazing than Elliot and Fed ONLY went with Elliot since he's building for the future. Chazz should start once he gets back from concussion protocol.

Go Heels, Go Merica, Go Fed, Go Marquise!

Oh, and Woad, i'm sorry for you that Fed won, sucks for you that the Fed spread put away the game in crunch time.

Just happy with the win. I don't think it was unreasonable to start Chazz over Ellliot. But wish we made adjustments sooner.

Also, besides the D stepping up 4th quarter and a number of things, Fedora with the play book in his hand made a big difference tonight. Wish he had been more involved earlier. Much better play calling, played to what we could do well instead of forcing it, didn't call 15 bubble screens, etc,...

Here are my thoughts. Quise won us 11 games and took us to the ACC championship. Playing Quise over Mitch was 100% the right thing to do in 2015. Quise gave us a true dual threat and Elijah flourished when playing with him.

Elliott is, at worst, the 2nd best QB on our roster today. Heck, he might even be the best that we have. And for the record, he didn’t play poorly against Miami. 2 of his 3 picks weren’t his fault. One time the WR slipped/fell down and the other time the WR cut his route short. For what it’s worth, we actually outgained Miami in total offense. That’s the same Miami team that beat up VT last week. Before the Miami game, I can’t remember the last time we outgained our opponent.

I don't think I can disagree with you 100% on that statement but Mitch did go number 2 overall in NFL the draft, that's strong and also hard to argue with also!

But I'm not disappointed in fedora because of playing Mitch over Williams I'm more disappointed in the complete bullheadedness and out thinking himself in games we should have won and lost because he wanted to throw the ball inside the five with a huge back in the backfield. And it's other games also it's not just that South Carolina game he's just not very smart as a game-day coach and I don't think anyone can argue with that.

We won last night in spite of Fedora!! Poor play calling but Elliott made up for that He is a very heady and poised in the pocket. These are things you can't teach a Qb they have it or they don't my beef with Fedora and Heck is not recognizing it!!!

Serious question, when was the last time that we had a good game day coach? Mack? Maybe. But, he had a ton of talent which masks bad calls and mistakes. My point is that all we remember as fans, especially when we lose, are the calls or strategies that didn't work. Outside of Saban and Belichick, who are considered to be good game day coaches in college or the NFL? Not many at all.

this thread has gone downhill quickly. if this is just about which qb gives us the best chance to win this year then fine, if not we should stop

I was okay with the play-calling. Run the middle some to keep the D stacked on the interior, then bust some timely screens that were hugely effective. WR and TE got open.

You are outside of your mind. Fedora made countless calls last night that won us the game.
- going for it on the 4th and 1 in the first half rather than playing it safe
- letting Freeman attempt that 51-yarder in the first half
- the screen call on the first play of our final drive

I'm not gonna list them all. My word, people, Fedora WON the game for us last night. We put up 34 points on a Pat Narduzzi defense.

No no no lol, let's not rehash the Marquise - Mitch thing for the millionth time.

I'm extremely critical of the playacting under Fed, but I thought the staff called a damn good game last night. Especially considering how many weapons we have lost.

Same. Elliott's competency allows the staff to use the full playbook.

I am not a blind supporter of Fedora. Far from it. But I give credit where it's due. Play-calling was excellent last night on almost 100% of plays run. That's really, really tough to do.
