Pure elation to devastation in under 15 seconds

I do not like Calipari, think he is dirty as they come, do not like Kentucky either even before Cal.

BUT - I do feel for their fans. It just feels terrible to lose at all, especially in the Tourney in a close one.

I get down on myself at times for caring so much about something that has no reasonable place mattering as much as UNC Basketball does to me. It's kind of baffling how much I let it affect me.

I know 5 down with 5 to play I was in agony...but we made a mini run and we turn right around to a great player, Malik, hits the well defended three...then we inbound to Theo and he gives Luke the ball....agony/elation...

soap, you are a Tar Heel fan. Not unlike many of us in Tar Heel nation...as I have grown older I hate a loss now for the kids, the student/athletes that run drills, sprints, learn and run sets, the Carolina Way...more than I do myself.

We have a two game season ahead.

It was the complete opposite of the NC gam last year hit a shot to tie it only see Nova hit one to win it yesterday they hit a shot to tie it only to see Luke hit one to beat them thats basketball.

Yep, that was a ton of us last year, including myself. However, having that guy jumping up and down front and center....watching him just stop jumping did make me chuckle.

We were there last April....I get it. All fan bases have their share of good and bad.....the bad seems to be noticed more and painted as the norm. When things happen, we as fans are emotionally invested. If someone had a camera on me for the UNC/Nova game....it would've likely been the same.

I get your point but calling another program cheaters and ALWAYS crying about the refs crossed the line for me. They have some good fans like jc but they are few and far between.

I don't mind the kids on their team this year, I usually don't, although I didn't like Cousins for obvious reasons. However, the fanbase is the worst I've encountered in any sport and it is not close. It's disgusting what some of them say.

Most are stupid rednecks with at most a high school education.

I hear ya. They have a group that will do that, just like State, Duke, others will for us. We also have a group that will call others out for similar things. I have little patience for people that can't be adults. I used to go over and post on RR quite often, but go out of the habit of it when I was building a house for 14 months, building a business and dealing with some personal things in my family. It just got to a point where the pros didn't outweigh the cons. There were a handful of clowns that just flat out lied about me and took things way beyond sports. It was comical at how lame they were, but some believed what they said despite no proof. It wasn't worth the distraction, and with everything else going on it just wasn't worth it.

I will say that 90-95% of the people that I interacted with on RR were good people. A lot of good people that were respectful and ones that I would take up for in a minute...even today. Had they been born in NC they would likely be UNC fans. Had I been born and raised in KY, I would likely be a UK fan. Why? Because it's passed down in the family. It's a part of who we are. I can respect someone for pulling for a different team as long as they are consistent. I can respect passion and even rivalry hate. I can't respect idiocy......in other fan bases, or my own.

At the end of the day, people are people. The things we make fun of them for that get offended about.....would be the same if things were reversed. I choose to just be an adult. Yes, I'm happy we won and happy we beat them. I won't apologize for that. I don't think their players are thugs. I like this year's team and really like Fox. I'm not a fan of Cal, but wasn't before he was at UK. He's an excellent recruiter and outstanding in front of the camera. He gets a bunch of stars to play together and that's a gift. I just don't like him....similar to how a lot of UK fans felt before he was their coach.

Coach I have respected your opinion for years on here one of the best. I used to post under Tennessee Husker75 have had many conversations with you in the past. I wish I could ignore the ignorance like you do but I too competitive it not in my DNA lol.

It's hard to laugh knowing most went through this same feeling...

...but what's absolutely hilarious is the guy near the middle wearing the white cap. He literally couldn't look, but he only watched after the girl kept shaking him--almost as if she made him look. Then once he looked, the game, and quite possibly his relationship with that girl, was over...

I'm not going over to RR, as I know there are loonies on every site. And I don't really want to revel in their misery; God knows we can relate. But it is interesting to watch in general terms at the highs and lows of being a sports fan.

I thought this was funny until my wife described for me how I freaked out after Kris Jenkins hit his shot last year. Oh well, it's still funny - kinda like when you step on dog doo doo. We have all experienced it but it is so much better on the other guy.

Plenty here as well. Called being a fan, just different flavors. E eryboard has them
Yes, every board has them. But if you visit RR for a few minutes, you will see idiocy taken to a different level, beyond even Crack Ride if that's possible. Crack Ride is the only other board I've been to that even approaches RR in it's venom. This board is mild by comparison.

Every UNC fan who complains that our Mods are too strict or that we can't have reasonable debates should visit RR. It will make you appreciate our Mods and this board a lot more. The inmates run the asylum over there, with virtually nothing considered ban worthy.

i have been a carolina basketball fan since 1966, 50 years of following college basketball with great interest. during that half century kentucky fans have always been among the worst fanbases, the most unsportsmanlike, whiny, entitled, insulting, and full of nothing but hate for unc. i have no sympathy for them and i can't understand why any carolina fan would.

You can find countless videos on the web right now of large masses of KY fans burning couches, tvs, shirts, and miscellaneous trash while screaming "f*ck UNC".

My wife is from Lexington and she was even dumbfounded when I showed her. I don't have a lot of sympathy for their fanbase despite knowing my in laws are good people and "decent enough" wildcat fans.

I'm as competitive as they come....I just don't see an idiot behind a keyboard as something that is competing. It's easy to be a tough guy virtually.......like I said, most of them are outstanding.
