You know what? This counts as head coaching experience! Definitely qualified to be UNC's head coach! I'm kidding...

I think I chose to wait until the regular season to make any guesses on what this team would be so that's probably why I'm a little more even keel than everyone else. In the preseason, there were people here saying this team was 11 (count em 11!) deep. The only player I had pretty high expectations for was Cade Tyson because I thought if he could really shoot the ball here, it would really help us. And boy have I been wrong about that, lol. And to his credit, Seth has been terrific and I didn't really buy his preseason hype.

The harsh reality of this team right now is they're 5 deep (Cadeau, RJ, Seth, Jackson, and Powell). I'll go 6 to be nice because Withers does show the capability to play well at times. But realistically Powell and Withers are pretty similar right now for different reasons. You don't know what Powell is going to do every game because he's a freshmen and Withers, you have no clue because you haven't had a clue on what he'll do for 5 years now. So this is a 6 deep team right now that has to glue together their 4-5 rotation.

It's a mess right now. I'm one to blame the players first. Unless there's evidence on film that there is absolutely 0 open shots for them, then they have some blame in this too. Make your open layups (Cadeau and RJ) and make your open 3s (literally everyone on the roster). Do the easy things well and the harder things will get easier.

But obviously Hubert deserves a lot of blame and criticism too. Antiquated and outdated offense. And defense? Well, when has UNC really had a defense-first minded culture or mindset? This is a pretty basketball program. Hard to get that culture reversed into a tough, grind it out, 40 minutes of intensity basketball. But... at least he's a UNC guy right?

I expect them to figure it out and not waste time trying to place blame!

When we play with maximum effort, we compete with anyone! When we don't, we can lose to anyone! I think it will eventually click and we will see a run of some fun ball!

BTW: It would be a waste of your valuable time trying to convince me of anything less!

About all I would say about this post is that there an be no better example of how we all do have the right to express our opinions, no matter how ignorant they may be to others. That is about the ONLY thing positive I can say about this...😲

OK, back to agenda-free discussion: I think you and I both know that if Dean or Roy were handed this team to coach the next game, on like the first three possessions that ball would go INSIDE to JWash with directions to shoot.

I wasn’t referring to you at all. Being 10-11 deep was the common prediction here. Right now, they’re not close.

I also said they’re not all that deep right now so like you I’m opening up to the possibility that more guys will establish consistent roles for this team.

And yea, I do think this team has 5 or 6 players that are semi reliable right now. I don’t know how that’s controversial with what they’ve put on the tape so far.

I actually agree that this team has upside and can play with any team on any given night. They have to play at their A level to do so but I think there’s a lot of variance with this team and that means on the right game they can give the best teams all that they can handle.

But I think what you get as their median game is a pretty inconsistent team that has glaring holes. If you want to say it’s effort dependent, that’s fine. I think it’s more shooting dependent. They can certainly lose to anyone if they aren’t shooting it well or playing hard enough.

And I do think things can get better. The game tape has a lot of minor lack of attention to detail that derails some things. A lot of that is fixable. Some of their issues are not though but I think they’ll be better than what they showed against Ga Tech.

But right now, it looks pretty bad. It looks like they have a limited number of opportunities for good quality wins too. So they’ll have to get some things shored up relatively quickly.

Nate idk what you’ve done to catch hell from a few of these posters but I do find it hilarious that they hate what you post and disregard it, all the while saying some of the same things. May not agree with everything and everyone but we do have common bonds. Some people are just blind with keyboard hate lol
