Rawle Alkins to announce tonight (3/7)

If a kid is conflicted about coming to UNC i would rather he go somewhere else , just want kids here that love the university. I am so glad Ingram did not come to Carolina he looks so trashy with all the tattoos.

not to mention he is just an all around goofy looking f#ck.

Rawle genuinely likes Carolina -- showing up at those home games and grinning ear-to-ear wasn't just for show. If what I have heard is correct UNC just may not be a viable option.

As for Miller, while nothing would surprise me, I haven't heard anything concrete one way or the other on the shenanigans front --- but I do know he has been one of the loudest negative recruiters out there against UNC. I have no respect for that.

Sean Miller hasn't won anything. All that talent and not even a final four. There is shady business going on down in Tucson.

Kid's a beast with an NBA ready body, most likely a one year guy. Never felt we had much of a chance with the guys we have coming back. Best of luck to him.

That is kinda the thing, they have got great talent but nothing to show for it and these kids really want to see hardware. To have really nothing to show for the talent they have had and yet still remain able to get this top shelf level of talent really makes you have to question wus sup?

The competition is weak out West. That is a big part of it.

Yet people seem to doubt what I said originally. The guy moved up his decision date by a month and a half and completely went against what he said he was going to do when choosing a college.

Looks like a duck, walks like a duck...

I don't doubt at all that the kid liked UNC but IMO may have seen our load of players at his position and that took us out.

But in truth and I have said this before concerning this kid, WOG, it is a diploma mill and his coach is a problem we all know. This smells to me like John Wall part 2 and as great a talent as wall was I did not want him or the trouble he could have brought to us and this Adkins deal smells in a real similar way. I don't enjoy saying that but it is far from the first time I have stated this here.

I saw someone defending Miller said they would not mind if he became our coach after Roy steps down? I sure as heck don't, rumors aside, the guy has had a TON of talent in a weak conference, pretty much walks in to a high NCAA seeding on the west coast and really little to show for it? I see really less than acceptable team or player development for his program. I am not trying to be insulting in saying that. It is kinda like Gotfried and the wuffies, they get individual talent but it just doesn't seem to ever mesh in to a great team? Baylor is another example IMO, talented players but under achieve as a team.

Honestly, had Roy been able to have got Tarc, I think he would have been seen in the same way and had a similar career as Montross. But in the games I have seen Tarc in this season, he looked to me very much like he did as a freshman? Look at Brice Johnson on the other hand, same class, much less heralded and yet is NCAA 1st team and a sure fire top 5 lotto selection. One has developed, one IMHO not so much.

With 7th and Brandon joining Theo, Kenny and Nate, we're loaded at the 2 - although Alkins sure looks good.

The guy I'm mad about losing to Zona is Markkanen.

Well, the one that it just KILLS ME that we lost is Bam, man that kid would have been a MONSTER for us...

Dave, we lost Markannen to negative recruiting --- period --- and the culprit of course was Miller. Bam was no longer in the game for us once the handlers got hold --- hell, I heard the only reason he didn't go to State was a falling out with DSjr's handlers, and of course Cal promising whatever was necessary to seal the deal.

And as to your previous post, yeah, it slays me to have any Carolina fan wish for anyone outside the Carolina system to ever coach here --- and especially that little underachieving jerk-wad at Arizona.

Rawle outright said he is only at UNC games because the state is boring and there is nothing else to do. Like, anyone in this thread can say any nonsense they want but that should have been a no brainer comment to know he wasn't going ti NC State or UNC.

If the state of NC is boring then I love me some boredom. I am glad he is going to AZ and not really sure he won't be bored there also.

I'm eager to see @thaUNCshow response to this comment. He was less than thrilled when someone else brought up this topic in another thread, and made some decent points. Hopefully we can see this one discussed.

You think the moon is boring, well.... welcome to AZ.
But c'mon seriously with this excuse. Any place is what you make it. People have fun in NC and AZ (I've lived in both).
I'll just say if Rawle is looking for glitz he would have gone to St Johns. Not buying that NC hatred reason for one second. Sorry Mikey, et al. but pffftttttt....

You don't have to buy it but it's the truth. What HE SAID, not me.

No offense, Hark, but why? --- You and I know full well what it will be --- many of us have expressed how we feel about potential future UNC coaches and he's entitled to his opinion as much as anyone else. None of us are gonna affect that one way or the other.

You or he or anyone else is free to scan this thread for what I think of Sean Miller and I stand behind it. I do have a good source on his recruitment of Markannen (trust me, our staff knows about it), and although I don't know of any violations, I think how he approached it was smarmy and low-rent. I would imagine that sort of thing is one of the reasons that (outside of Tucson) Sean is about as popular in the PAC-12 as baked beans on a bus ride.

Regardless of whether he loves the state of North Carolina, hates it, or is indifferent, he should matriculate wherever he feels most comfortable. As long as he doesn't wear dark blue, I couldn't care less. He'll put up big numbers in Tuscon for one year and then go for the gold. Good for him.

Yeah, I agree we lost Markannen due to negative publicity of our NCAA issues and I don't doubt for one minute that several coaches have used that against us. My thing with Bam is the kid grew up a Tar Heel fan, the kid had tar Heel posters on his wall in his bed room, that is not a kid UNC is suppose to lose. I get the involvement of an advisor and Roy hates those, not a fan of them myself. But this was a kid that would have been amazing as a Tar Heel, IMO he is the best talent in this class to fit what we need for next season.

Oh yeah, I agree. Bam grew into a beast who by all rights should have been a Heel --- unfortunately (thanks to handlers and the modern excesses) his head grew along with it. His recruitment may well be the poster example of what's gone wrong in elite HS basketball recruiting.

Roy will not sign any player that has a handler. There is too much shady stuff going on. You have "handlers" for high school players and "agents" for college players. Udoka was a classic case. Ukoka was like an infant in a baby crib that had no control of his destiny. The same with Bam, but Bam was a toddler. All legal stuff, but shady with the player many times completely out of the loop.

Uh Roy tried to sign them both.
He lets these kids know that there will be no place for the handlers if a kid comes to UNC. It's the reason we didn't take John Wall. Udoka in the end chose to follow his handler... and Roy gave up on Bam months before he committed because he was toting too much baggage.

Yeah, ya beat me to it, Roy did back off Bam once the handler got involved thou a good debate could be had if Roy backed away first or did the handler back Bam away first, either way is the same out come.
