Recruiting Class...

With the crazy ending to this season, my love for Marcus and Brice, it's nice to know we have some real ballers coming in next year. Have you guys seen Woods? He brings a swagger we haven't had for a while at point. Mix that with Bradley and Robinson and others, we have a lot to look forward to. K can have all the 1 and dones he wants, that's not college basketball. Thanks Roy for what we have coming!

Roy has admitted that he likes to have 1-2 one and done type guys mixed in each class with 3-4 year guys. Lately he's been unable to get those guys due to the dark cloud hanging over us but I do like this class that he pieced together. I think these three will be really good players. Hopefully the mess goes away this year and he can land a top 20 player for 2017 to go along with Jalek.

Love to snag a couple of quality BIGS in 2017, have a feeling we won't keep Bradley long.

Woods IMO is more a 2 than a PG, which is great when I consider Joel Berry as our PG and the flat out grit that kid brings to every game he plays. Woods will be really good for us but I suspect he may take a while to get rolling, I see his impact being more as a defender and athletic slasher.

Personally I am all in with Kenny Williams, I know by nature we tend to respect the guy that has yet to play more than the guys we have seen play but I hear nothing but praise about Kenny. His lack of PT this season was exclusively due to having a great player at his position as well as a extremely experienced guy that had worked really hard in the last off season (Marcus & Britt). The kid battled in practice on the scout team, went at Marcus & Britt in practice every day and that experience will serve him really well next season. I don't know if he can win the starting job from Nate at the 2 but Nate will darn sure have his hands full holding him off, Kenny will get solid PT as a soph.

What really has me looking forward is wanting to see what Theo can do about his jump shooting with A full off season to put up a few hundred shots a day. If that kid can develop even a decent repeatable stroke that he believes in he will absolutely jump up on the NBAs radar. And the thing is the kid has a shooters feel, that is the hardest thing, that is what many kids never have, Theo has that, he just needs a consistent stroke that he can groove in to.

10-4 Dave on Theo and Williams.

NOBODY mentions Robinson, and I think he may well be a sleeper for us. With you on Woods playing the 2, Britt will play the 2 and back-up Berry.

Can't wait!

Mikey, Robinson absolutely tore it up his senior season, flirted with a triple double nearly every game. Problem he will have is Justin (assuming he is back) and Theo are at his wing position, similar to what Kenny had to deal with this past season.

I'll tell ya this. KW is already our best wing defender --- and when he shoots a 3 in practice all the guys just expect it to go in. A summer of confidence-building and it will be very tough to keep him off the floor.

"Small Ball" works really well at times! :)

I agree with this - but it doesn't make sense to me. You would think that one-and-done guys like Ingram and Wiggins before him would have not been effected by the dark cloud (as they've already come and gone before anything has been laid down). I would think that the 3-4 year guys that were still good enough to go to a myriad of other schools (the Hicks, Berry, and Jacksons of the world) would have been the ones we missed on. Why would a OAD player be nervous about the black cloud which wouldn't effect them by the time they left after a year, but the guy who will be around for 3 or 4 years (and thus has a greater chance of being on the team when the dust settles) isn't worried about it?

I think a lot of it is negative recruiting from other schools. I think they are telling them every year that the decision is coming that year and there is going to be a ban this year, blah, blah, blah.

Been saying the same thing every time a thread like this pops up!!

I'll take this lineup all day long:

1st Team
PG Berry
SG Williams
SF Jackson
PF Hicks
C Meeks

2nd Team
PG Britt
SG Woods
SF Pinson
PF Maye
C Bradley

And still have Robinson, White on the bench. This group will win a LOT of games

This is the first year in a while that I can remember having several kids that could really step up and explode. ie, williams robinson bradley woods rush surratt. Surely there is a gold nugget in one or more of these guys. EXCITING!!!

Question came up today at work about Surratt in regards to him red-shirting in football..... If he red-shirts in football would he be eligible for basketball and still have 4 years of football eligibility or does he have to red-shirt in basketball to still have 4 years for football?? Wondering what Fedora would allow..

My hunch is that Justin Jackson will not be back. Just my opinion.

If Roy decides to go small next year with Jackson and Pinson at the forward spots during stretches. Bradley will really do well with that type of lineup because of his skill set.

Next year IMHO is about MEEKS becoming a consistent force down low. We know JJ is ready to explode, Berry will be solid with the ball, and Pinson and Britt will have increased production because of increased PT.

Meeks is the unknown. He has to become more aggressive and consistent. Should really be a fun year.

OAD can help, but there are not many OAD that can crack our starting line up and that is a big reason they are not coming to UNC lately. Roy is not starting a OAD over KW or Britt at SG. Hicks is not losing his spot at PF. The rest of team started last year. If JJ leaves Pinson will not lose his spot to a OAD.

You don't think Josh Jackson or Terrance Ferguson would start over Kenny Williams and Nate Britt? Cmon! Granted, Jackson is more of a 3, but it seems like you are selling this HS class short. It's absolutely loaded with future NBA starters and all stars. In fact, I don't know that there are any true OADs that wouldn't start for UNC. Giles, Jackson, Tatum, Bam, Fultz, Monk, Ball, and Fox all look like OADs and all are projected Top 20 next year by most sites. All of these guys are starting for ANY team in the country. The only question is PG because Joel Berry is pretty solid but man, Ball and Fox are studs, period.

Next year's loaded class in the draft might make Justin more likely to leave. I hope he stays but I trust the staff to help him do what's best for him.

Unless a player has dire family circumstances (or they hate school), I just cant see leaving after the sophomore year unless the player is a first round draft pick. Leaving after the junior season like Tokoto and JMM, I can see the argument because while there are seniors each year that dramatically improve their draft stock, for every Hield or Brice there are dozens that dont.

Not saying the talent of the guys mentioned is not greater than our current players, but No in the "Carolina Way" I do not believe Roy would start any of them over the "talented" current players we have now.

I think most OAD undertsand that about Roy, and opt to start somewhere else. Again, I am not saying a OAD cannot start at UNC, but way to many current UNC guys who have college experience and talent for any OAD to start next year anyway.

90 percent of the time OAD lack defense, but the offense is off the chains or atleast the treat is off the chains. In our current situation you would bring that kind of player off the bench.
