You woudln't be happy with good walk on talent than can challenge the Scholly players?
If we are ever at a point where we "need" a walk on that has zero D1 offers...where 351 schools feel he is not good enough to play for them...then we are in SERIOUS SERIOUS trouble.
Remember folks, Luke is unlike 99.999999999999999999999% of walk on's. Plus, Luke had scholly offers from Clemson, Davidson, Gonzaga, and Notre Dame. Big time D1 programs.

If you think we'd be in serious trouble then, what would you call it if we're at the point where we "need" a walk-on but don't have one?
Maultsby is a talent that has been tearing up AAU around here! If anyone really thinks he can't compete at this level, they haven't seen him play or they are vision challenged. If we can somehow convince him to be a preferred walk-on (one that will get a scholly if it is available) then we have pulled of a serious heist! I would hate to face him in another uni if we don't show him the love!

IF Jalek doesn’t return, what are our options?
Seventh: hasn’t shown that he has the ability to play PG. In fact, due to his injury issues, we’re not even sure he’s an ACC caliber player. Now I believe he is, but at PG or SG?
Andrew: He appears to have good instincts and is a cerebral player. But does he have the quickness to push tempo and defend other PG’s?
Baby Jet: Haven’t seen enough of him to know what he can or cannot do at this level.
Marque: At 6-3, possesses great size and the requisite quickness to play PG. Who’s to say he couldn’t win minutes with PG so wide open?
Or would we be forced to try Coby at point?

There is nothing to lose by offering Marque a PWO. I wish Francis was coming in next year, but he isn’t. So we need to hedge our bets due to the uncertainty regarding Jalek.

I have only heard good things about the kid and if he wants to be a Tar Heel then I hope he will come to the Hill.
Bottom line,if Roy thinks he's good enough to be on the team then I'm satisfied.
Damn this dude maybe a freebie and guys aren't happy... A walk on that has speed that can push in experienced Point guards for next year, Berry is done after this year we need all the bodies we can get... From what we have witnessed next year it looks like we will Have a Freshmen starting at Point guard so an extra fast kid with a chip on his shoulder THAT WILL NOT eat up a scholly is a steal...
Weight room is a Beautiful thing, watch his Highlights , he has not a clue where the weight room is located and weighs 160 pounds soaking wet.. that being said, this same kid with that skill at 185 will be a solid player...
Come on man, give the kid a break, won't cost you a dime.
I'm sure a grad transfer, juco or international pg will be available to possibly look at after season is over .. I doubt JF will be back imo ...
d13, I really appreciate your posts at times, especially when you tell people to read. All I ask is that you do the same. At no point did I say he was pip or horn, but I would like to see underdog, overlooked kids shine, and prove people wrong.

I'm going to keep giving you guys hell for hyping up walk-on's and I'll be right for the next 50 years until another Luke Maye comes along...because that's how rare he is. AND LUKE HAD MAJOR MAJOR OFFERS.
Because of Luke, you guys think every walk on is going to get minutes. As someone who has two family members that are walkons at big time programs, IT DOESNT HAPPEN.
Who is hyping him? Kid may never play anything but mop up minutes, but if he pulls on that Tar Heel jersey shouldn't we all be pulling for him instead of making him out to be a bum? Every report I've seen talks about his blinding speed. Roy saw something. Just sayin.............
Why do I have to admit that? 99.9999% of walk-on's do nothing meaningful. Which is just fine. The kids get an amazing 4 years of experience on the team.
Is Jalek stuck in limbo right now or does he have a legit shot to come back this year? Would we want him back? And is there a true belief that he’ll end up transferring?
You often paint with a very broad brush. And you seem to feel like it’s your job to “set everyone straight” when you disagree with them. Being “right” seems to be your primary objective.

Not you, me, Arch, or Roy Williams saw Luke Maye becoming what he is now.
...and that has opened the door to these walk on overreactions. Luke was not normal.
