Recruits at the ND game

When Southerners are being passive aggressive why don't always start with h bless your heart? What you really mean is sit down and shut up... Lol

No Luke will never be "normal". And he still has a year to go and can you just imagine him getting to play along side a true 5?

That PG may not be normal either, seems to be something about him, we shall see. Law of averages are not in his favor, but neither were Luke's.

It's not about what this kid can give us next year. It's does this kid possess the tools to help us by his Jr. Sr. year? Like Luke. But we also need able bodies to run scout teams in practice. No way he can be worse than regular walk-on's.

I absolutely did.

Not you, me, Arch, or Roy Williams saw Luke Maye becoming what he is now.

...and that has opened the door to these walk on overreactions. Luke was not normal.

Fairly sure Mike was the one claiming Luke could be averaging 20 and 10 by his senior season.

I actually said I would not be surprised if Luke was starting by his Junior year. You thought that was nonsense, and reiterated that numerous times to all who thought otherwise. The fact that you couldn’t have been more wrong is why you’re doubling down now.

Wanna do a bet if this most recent walk-on will start by his junior year? Hell, I'll give you Shea, KJ, and Walker also.

If Roy likes the kid enough to want him on the team, there has to be something the coaching staff likes. Not saying he is going to contribute, but I am not going to guarantee he will suck either. Different sport, but didn't Baker Mayfield go from walk on, to probably top 15 in the upcoming draft? Crazier things have happened.

This is a true LOL! The one-sided argument with a Negative Nancy is amusing to say the least. It is tiresome exchanges like this that prompted the ignore for this dude!

But at least you guys are enjoying yourselves!

But I bet there were recruits at the ND game, but I am not willing to go back far enough to read about them!

*You're *too - just in the spirit of the inaccuracy discussion.
I never claimed to be a mr. know-it-all on this board though. You however seem to have to be correct about everything. To the point that you even correct people's grammar. So are you a professor for the Englewood Community College for convicted felons? Are you an ESPN analyst Bleacher Report analyst or a sporting news analyst? Are you an analyst for anything other than yourself? If not get off of everybody else's back

I predicted he would be a very good player , Mike is my witness...

I said the same-ish thing about Luke 2 years ago. I stand corrected. He has become a thorn in the side of a lot of teams for his hustle and cardio. He out works the other teams and is constantly surprising a lot of us. Has he disappeared in some games...yeah...but nobody here 2 years ago thought he would get any PT so kudos for him. Marcus Paige was a guy I didnt think would amount to much, but I was wrong about that too. Undersized shooting guards forced to play PG dont usually scream All-American. But if Paige was 160 lbs I would be surprised about that too.

What says a lot about Luke this year, is that even in those few games that he has disappeared, as you said, those games would have still been some of his best last year.

There are a lot of factors in Luke Maye becoming what he is today. If Roy lands one or two of those 5* bigs he offered over the last 3 recruiting classes, Luke may not even be starting or at least not getting the minutes he gets now. Likewise, his ability to develop on the court may have been impacted. Regardless, he did develop better than expected and I’m dang sure glad he’s a Tar Heel.

Well he passes the first test of being a UNC walk on - he has an awesome name. Marque Maultsby. He also looks like a vampire with leukemia. Unique name, unique look, I'm on board. Plus I've heard he's a great guy and a great student.

But ultimately what I think is irrelevant. If Roy wants him I want him.

I'm not getting in the middle of this particular argument, but I posted (without reservation) 2 years ago that Luke would likely be starting by the time he was a Junior AND that would be a good thing. Why? Because of my eyes, along with my very trusted source who played with him in pro-am and flat guaranteed me Luke could play at this level.

Now I don't care if he was scholly, walked on, or was brought here in a wheel-barrow, it was what it was. My point is every player is different, and the number of scholarship offers is just one indicator amongst many. Someone thinking a guy like Marque is a "steal" is no more "over-hype" than assuming he's automatically not is stereotypical under-hype.

I'm not coming down on either side with this one just yet, but c'mon man... I don't see anyone here saying anything over-the-top --- they're just expressing preferences at a time where we are likely to be PG-shy very shortly.
