Sure seems Roy backed off politely from Simi following some exchange of information. Goes that way sometimes.
Now on to '19 and which big/bigs could we entice to CH? David and I lamented that there were not many true centers in the '18 class so we can go all in on a big for '19. Hmm?

No, you're not understand. I know this is hard to believe to us since we're Carolina fans, but not every one who walks this earth thinks UNC is the end all / be all lol. There's plenty of players who end up liking another school(s) more than UNC because it's a better fit for that individual or just feels more like home.

EJ is not a Big that fits the UNC mold. Highly skilled but not a strong post game. Not a good enough outside shooter yet to be a Stretch. He is a very good passer though. All things considered I would much rather have Bacot.

Trying not to get to hi on him but a lot of rumblings out there that are encouraging. Still think Clemson is the team to beat. But can you just imagine, White, Black, Little and Zion all at once? Throw in any big and look out!

Yep. I'm just looking at it as a potential luxury. We can be done right now and we're good, but if we could somehow land a spectacular talent like that, even for just a year, that's gravy. The he only thing I feel confident in saying about Zion is that we are definitely in it. As for the final decision, well, we shall see. If nothing else seems the FBI has changed some things for the better...

LOL Is it physical strength you mean, if so again we have had a bunch of front court guys that were not exactly body builders when they got to us.

Geez man, we tar Heels should all be ticked we got Little and frankly, it would not hurt my feelings at all to add a 6'10" 5 star power forward to this 2018 class. My post was clear and concise. He's a skilled tall kid who shows little affinity for a post game and not a good enough deep shooter to be a true stretch. Tell me how that fits a need at Carolina?
Honestly I don't get why we're even talking about '18 players. For me it's Zion (or maybe Langford, although he isn't a need) or move on.
Not really sure why people are even talking about this Montgomery kid. Has Roy even offered him? To me shittu not visiting *could* be an indicator something has happened positively with Zion.

I'll give you the answer everyone else loves to give when wondering about Roy's decisions:

Gary, if your post was clear and concise I would not have found myself trying to figure out what the heck it was talking about? I am not trying to offend but trying to find out what the issue is you really have with the Montgomery kid. Dang man, when ya say he is highly skilled but not a post player nor a stretch you have to realize that doesn't make a ton of sense. he is highly skilled but does not fit the UNC mold for front court guys, what the heck does that mean because that is neither clear nor concise.
Zion is a 18 kid as is Langford and neither are area of need, area of need, I think we can all agree is FRONT COURT. If we can get a 5 star 6'10" kid in 2018 that is not a problem child then why would we not be excited to consider him? If you have something on him that is not well known, great, share it, if the kid has phony grades share it, if the kid has a handler problem share that, if pearl was going to allow something that Roy will not, by all means share it. But don't give me smoke and expect me to accept it man, come on, you better than that!
This makes no sense. Why would Roy "require" a recruit to go public before he's ready to? That seems like pure unfounded speculation, yet you state it like it's the truth.

That's my point. Where is there any proof or anything that Roy is even in contact with Montgomery? He definitely hasn't offered him. I get the had a few guys picking him to choose unc but that seemed to be the prognosticators just blindly throwing guesses out there more than anything else.

Again, EJ is a 5* tweener. He's a 5* because he's very skilled for his height, but plays too much like a Guard. He ain't likely to walk in and grab the 5 position here. He'll be a good-passing Stretch-4 who will need to spend a lot of gym-time shooting.
If EJ came here ---- which I highly doubt --- I'm sure we could make good use of him. But Zion at 4 inches shorter will give us more on the glass and in the paint. Jes' sayin'.
It isn't that I am sucked in by rankings, you should know me better than that. But I can darn sure get sucked in by 6'10" and a 4 that can hot a mid range jumper. I can cause that is Brice Johnson, a long 4 that thinks he is a guard, that is John Henson and darn right I am a taker for those. What I am going to have my doubts about is a 6'6" power forward even if he is 250.
Big thing with me is it ain't about what they are or what they think they are when they get here, it is what they become. And if this coaching staff can do anything at a high level it is develop players to be able to maximize their ability at this level of the game. I do not worry so much about 7th for example because I know this coaching staff can develop him in to a big time player. I have seen Roy do this over and over with the kids that were willing to listen and grasp his coaching and I have seen it not really work with some hard heads that seemed to know more than Roy.
You recruiting guys.....I was told by a friend that New Mexico is making a huge push for Shittu and might get him in for an OV......seems their Coach is Canadien and has spent time with the young man coaching him.....just curious if you guys have heard that rumor.....would probably raise more then a few eyebrows in the recruiting circles!!! lol
