yesterday.

Personally, I'm not thrilled about this offer.

1. He's shown us zero interest since his offer.
2. We already have two guards committed in 2018.
3. He's already been enthralled by the Duke/UK hype.

Really wish that visit would have went elsewhere. But I'm sure I'm just being overly negative again.
 
Well, I will say I've already seen talk about Jalek being a possible OAD and Leaky being a SF by the time they matriculate. And if Roy doesn't offer Langford, you can bet your bottom dollar it's just a matter of time before fans start asking why we just "conceded" him to "fill in the blank" university.

IOW, Roy's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

You never know what a recruit is thinking . . . if Roy is out and about seeing some folks, what could it hurt . . ?

Not saying we're going to get Langford, or anyone else . . . but, Coach is out there working like he always does. The man works as hard as any other . .

Can't say we want Roy to offer more elite recruits and then be choosy about said elites. Roy offering might pay dividends down the road and it is well worth the slim chance that he might just take it!

According to some, Zion's already a done deal to d00k. 247 has both him and Langford 62% d00k bound. So does Roy recruit these guys or not? IMO, he does.
 
Langford is at least a possibility imo he seems to really like unc. We will be in his final 5.. Not that that means much but it gives Roy a shot have to try imo

It could be one of the reasons that Roy has seemingly backed off of Zion. Hope not, that kid is a beast and we seemed to be in a good spot with him pre-LNWR.
 
Roy is dropping water in the bucket drop by drop. At some point the water will get to the top and it will overflow. That is what is going to happen with OAD's. Roy only needs a OAD every two years.
 
I went last year to watch Langford play. The kid is the real deal. I've always heard he was a big Duke fan & can tell you for a fact before the game I went to, he walked in with a Duke hat on.
I know that him wearing a Duke hat is in no way a sign of where he's going but apparently the rumors of him being a Duke fan were true.

I for one love the positive nature of his posts and welcome a little break from the bickering!
(BTW: I have experienced NO bickering since I applied the Ignore function 2X!)
To each his own I guess.

puke is a bandwagon type of fan base, but being a fan and committing are 2 different things! Roy is doing the right thing and YES he must recruit the top peeps just to let all know we are in the market for elites! Peeps see UNC on more recruits' lists and then we start to repair our rep!

Completely false.

Langford was yet another case of us offering a guy well within Dook/UK's grasp. There has been zero evidence that Langford is interested in us, yet you'll have plenty of people on this board trying to convince themselves and others we have just as much a shot as those guys.

Id have praised Roy if we, for once, actually offered a 5 * guy that we didn't have to play catch up with from day 1.

If anything, this is another Wendell Carter situation waiting to happen, and it has already been pointed out how much he seemingly likes Dook. A good # of people on this board were disappointed in how much time Roy wasted on Carter....minus, of course, one person who swore Carter had legit UNC interest like in his 8th grade year or something.

If this visit had went to Zion or anyone else in the 2018 class with an offer, this wouldn't be a troublesome issue.

This kid has shown us zero interest. Doubt he's even mentioned us once outside of his recruiting list. Been to UK and Dook already. But sure, let's ride this one until his inevitable commitment elsewhere lmao.

If it looks and walks like a duck, why people insist on calling it a cat until it quacks is beyond me.

I'm not sure that UNC would be considered the leader, but there is some interest there so it wouldn't be wise for Roy to completely abandon Langford. He is expected to trim his list to 5 schools and I wouldn't be surprised to UNC on the list.

I usuallly agree w you but I think Roy is wise to maintain contact on this one just based on what some of the experts on four corner are saying

Actually, I'd take the hat as a clue. Not a guarantee, but surely a clue.
 
Now that religion has come up, maybe someone can explain to me why so many sports teams have some variation of "devil" or "demon" in their name or as their mascot.

What's up with that?

And how could any good Christian play for Duke or Wake, given their names?

I've often wondered this myself. Especially since some of them are schools attached to religious denominations. I would want my son to go to puke for its outstanding academic reputation and trust that his upbringing could insulate him from its devilish aspects!

I don't have a problem with Roy offering or visiting langford, I just do think it is a waste of time, not because I worry he will end up at duke but just I don't see us in need of another 2 guard and I think we get eliminated for him rather quickly for that very reason.

Now I love what I see in Zion, I truely do but when one of his former coaches, a guy that coached him for 2 years, looks over the plate of turkey at a Thanksgiving dinner and tells me David, he will end up committing to one of the SC schools then I have to stop and listen and it is not the first time he has told me that. Nor, by the way, is he the only one I have heard this from, so great player but does not look like it is going to be us folks, bring on Hamilton!!!

Do not come on very often about recruits but Zion is not a Duke lock.Will be a total shock if he leaves SC for college

Thanks for providing actual information, "Zero interest" is the wrong term.

But why some can delude themselves into every situation not in our favor not having some level of truth to it is beyond me. Regardless, there's not enough evidence to support this yet. I suppose I'll check back in a couple months.

This is correct. He visited both schools under the radar.....he and his family do not like a lot of media attention and wanted to keep it on the DL.

His visit was actually after he visited Duke for their event. He came to the exhibition game the following weekend. He was photographed there.

For the record, that Thanksgiving dinner I referred to was at my buddy topps house and no, topps was not Zion's former coach but someone else there was. Names withheld to protect the guilty ! LOL

So a visit from Langford(see post by Coach below), equates to "zero interest" to you, huh? You are one of the few people on this board with which I feel it's impossible to hold a civil conversation. Your posts reek of someone with an inflated ego who thinks he's smarter than everyone else. That in itself isn't so bad. But your need to constantly "educate" the rest of us who can't/won't see "reality" is tiresome, to say the least.

His final list will probably include UNC, but also Duke, Kentucky and Kansas. Would not get your hopes up. We all know how the story normally ends.
