Roy visited Langford

Oh, I won't be a bit surprised if he winds up at one of the 2 OADU's. He's most likely a one year guy. Still, if he's shown interest, it's foolish not to respond.

I don't know how the story ends! I usually don't read stories if I know the end. BTW: to me reading a story is not just about getting to the end; sometimes the lessons are in the middle or in the reading itself!

Recruiting Langford might get us an elite player and it might be a window to someone down the road-either way I like the way this ends!

So a visit from Langford(see post by Coach below), equates to "zero interest" to you, huh? You are one of the few people on this board with which I feel it's impossible to hold a civil conversation. Your posts reek of someone with an inflated ego who thinks he's smarter than everyone else. That in itself isn't so bad. But your need to constantly "educate" the rest of us who can't/won't see "reality" is tiresome, to say the least.

Thanks for the info Coach.

Me "educating" you about reality is about as old as the likes of those who keep preaching about "the sky falling". I sure wish some of you would put in the time you do to address negativity for those that call everything unpositive as "sky-falling negativity". But I'm sure you ignored that during your little hissy-fit regarding my attitude towards certain posters.

If you had taken two seconds to read, maybe you'd noticed that I changed my opinion and my wording not less than 5 posts before this when Coach and dadika provided some solid evidence.
Unlike a certain few others on this board, I'm capable of change when there's actual evidence involved, rather than the faith in the process or whatever it is some of you are selling. Perhaps you don't like the word "reality"? I could try to find a softer term for you. I know some others on this board don't like that word either. If you feel you're being belittled, perhaps you should address your own feelings for inferiority.

And honestly, if my "ego" or whatever annoys you, the ignore button is always your friend. I know some of you like to threaten it, but I really wouldn't mind if a few posters bothered to press it.

Not tiresome at all, refreshing in fact! To put shun & the word crap in the same sentence is out of line IMO. Keep up the good work shun!
Hi 2DDIMOND, SMILE I wish for GODS BLESSINGS to fall on you and the ones you LOVE.

!!!!!!!!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a basketball board not a religious site...it is tiresome when every shun post is the same crap.

Re: praying for Joel.
I'm sure not wasting my time, my preference would be hoping he is in therapy every day.
We get it, you're not religious. So just ignore Shun's posts. But know that he's probably the most respected poster on this board, because he's always upbeat about life even though he's been through some very hard knocks and because he never argues with a soul.

I love your posts and if your handing out prayers and blessings I will take some my way. Of course, if you don't want to pray for a Duke fan I would understand....although most on this board would probably say I need it more than anyone since I'm a Duke fan. :)

I'm sure Shun will gladly pray for you Coach, fan affiliations mean nothing in the big picture. Shun's a great guy.

Never argues with a soul, but I'd bet he's saved a few.

Shun is one of the most nice people on the planet, just a wonderful soul without doubt. But I think shun would tell ya, this thread isn't about him. It is a discussion about a kid we are recruiting. Maybe we can get back to that discussion?

To return to the topic at hand:

Since Langford, Roy has also been working behind the scenes with both De Sousa and McCormack. I don't know when offers can be made again, but I'd look for these 2 names getting some looks.

I know this much Rose, we either need to add another big man from this class (Knox & Vanderbilt) or we need to add a quality big man or 2 in 2018 and those are 2 highly sought after 2018 bigs you mention. IMO, that is a much higher priority than adding another 2 guard would be.

I think Roy will have a better chance in 2018 than 2017 at this point. Knox could play some 4, but he's primarily a wing and has stated that's where he wants to play. Vanderbilt is an anomaly in our recruiting. No one knows when his recruitment will end.

In 2018, I think it's a lot more promising.

We've been in on McCormack for quite a while and he's taken at least 2 visits to UNC so far.

De Sousa is a relatively new name, but it seems that his recruitment is just starting. According to 247, He only has 4 offers and contact with 2 schools (of course it's Kentucky & Louisville). But he named us as 1 of the 3 schools working hard from him.

Now we've heard all this stuff before, but even Roy says he hasn't heard the negative recruiting junk like he has in previous years.

Yeah, hate to agree but I have never felt great about our getting either. Have heard some encouraging things concerning Knox as of late but just in wait and see mode there.

I think the visit will be key. If we can blow him away so late in the process it could leave a lasting impression as he's considering everything. Justin playing very well helps our chances with Knox also.

I think Langford's high school plays La Lumiere tonight on both ESPN and ESPN2. Not sure what the occasion is. Pretty rare to see High school Basketball on prime time ESPN.

A few high profile recruits on La Lumiere that I know of.

Hi Archer2, you just put a big SMILE on shun1's face. I feel the need to remind everybody that I used to be the very opposite of what I appear to be this day. I was very SPOILED, cursed very badly, drunk liquor and wrecked a few cars. When I say I am fortunate to be still living, you better belive it. I want to give credit to GOD for the way I am today.

!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TAR HEELS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Coach325, SMILE I have learned over the years, that if everybody pulled for the same team it would be BORING. With that said, I will make this statement, that I take pride in acknowledging that Duke & UNC have the greatest rivalry in all of sports & we are neighbors. I wish GOD'S BLESSING upon you & the ones you LOVE.

BTW, Langford threw up 40 tonight against top competition. He's worth every minute Roy has spent.

I did see that game but I darn sure saw the second game with Serria Hiil vs Oak Hill, heck of a high school game. Did see couple quick clips of Langford going for 40 at half time of that game I saw.

In the game I watched Marvin Bagley will make the college program he elects to play his 1 and only season of college ball with instant NCAA title contenders. We talking 6'11", big time vertical, Twan Jamison like second jump explosion, extremely fluid, runs the court like a guard, hits treys, puts the ball on the floor, extended reach, amazing. Seems a little immature, very alpha, future NBA all star, could be the future of the NBA period...Could be the best player in the country not in the NBA, he is that off the chain. Concern is he is now in his 4th high school program, academic concerns had him leave other schools.

Oak Hill featured Billy Preston, Kansas commit, Matt Coleman (may be getting close to committing to duke), David McCormick class of 18 big man we are involved with. McCormick has lost a lot of weight since I saw him last, he was pushing 300lbs hard but they say he is around 265lbs now. I think he really needs to work on his conditioning, could maybe drop another 15-20lbs. I think he is a lot like Meeks.

What I could not help but think watching Oak Hill was when they played WOG earlier Huffman went for 20pts and 10-12 rebounds, that is saying something cause that oak Hill is no joke with their front line, starters and off the bench, maybe only team with a better front line is Serria Hills.

Still a little puzzled why we didn't pursue Coleman a little harder. IIRC, he likes UNC quite a bit and we never offered.

Amen. Oak Hill is always one of the top 10 high school teams in the nation and normally ranked in the top 5. They regularly have 4-5 D1 athletes on their team. Huffman couldn't have done it against a tougher team.

Arch, can't speak to why Roy didn't offer him but from what I see in college he will be a good PG, not a great PG but solid, kinda guy that will not thrill you a lot but will not commit a lot of TOs. With not being in things for potentially great PGs, I think Roy has elected to go more with combos, Leaky IMO will not be a PG or a 2 by the time he gets to us (I think he will be either a wing or a 4, most likely wing), Jakek, White, PLatek are all more combo's than PGs IMO. I do think Jalek is looking at being a PG for us, that looks like his NBA position so expect he wants to get ready for that next level.

Not sure I would want to invest in another PG that is good but maybe not great when we have Jalek and 7th and Platek can play some point in a crunch next season. If we did think I would prefer Dotson personally over Coleman. But you never know how they play when they get to the college game.

Agreed on both counts. But I'm a bit worried that we won't have a true PG next year if Joel leaves. I don't have any idea what Joel's NBA prospects are, I don't watch enough NBA these days to know. But if we're lucky enough to return to the FF, I could see him leaving. I think Jalek can play PG at the college level, but like you, I see him/White/Platek as combos more than pure PG's. But I have faith in Roy. I also think 7th may be able to help out there.

Our insiders think that Coleman is leaning toward Texas

Joel and the NBA, gary and I argued about that most of the summer, I hedged at maybe 51-49% Joel would be back, gary saw him more as gone. I believe coming in to the season Joel was projected second round, don't see him leaving to go second round, especially if what looks to be a loaded draft and contending as a PG with guys like Ball, Fox, Dennis Smith, Duval that the scouts seem to see more upside with. Early games I think may have helped rise Joel a little but the last couple he played maybe not so much. I think a lot of eyes will be on him if he plays vs Ky with the match up with Fox. Lot depends on how deep we go and the last couple games without him shows we don't go to deep in the NCAAT with out stellar play from Joel so he can help that NBA resume a ton between now and our last game this season.
