roy visiting Giles tomorrow

No, it has more to do with Gabriel than Giles. Gabriel might end up going to Maryland because of the playing time crunch at Duke, so K is looking at a plan B there. Texas was thought to be the front runner for DeLaurier but he wasn't really expecting a Duke offer. Academics are HUGE for him and his parents love Duke.

UNless you are suggesting that Gabriel or Delaureir is a wing and not a 4 it actually may have a lot to do with Giles who is a 4.

Giles and Gabriel/Delaurier have nothing to do with each other. If Giles comes to Duke (And I think he will), Gabriel/Delaurier will be his backup, which is why people feel Duke is fading with Gabriel.

Tra, for a dukie, I have always found you reasonable but I got to tell ya, this post irritates me a tad, gonna assume that you intended it differently than it struck me.

It really isn't a hard concept, duke just offerred a power forward at a time that pretty much every guru out there says duke and Giles is a lock. It is not hard to understand that the offer out to another guy at Giles floor position "COULD" indicate that things are not as cozy with Giles and duke as most every guru assumes them to be. The just offerred power by the way, not a scrub, not one of those top 200 fellas (meaning the tail end of the 200s, he is a very highly respected talent that I do not think is looking to spend his freshman season picking up splinters on the bench and maybe stealing 2 or 3 minutes a game.

Ill back up Tra here. The offer has nothing to do with Giles at all. It has everything to do with Gabriel and not knowing where we stand exactly with him. Giles is obviously a OAD player, and the staff at Duke isn't sure that Gabriel is willing to take a back seat so to say and not be a starter immediately. DeLaurier on the other hand is a multi year guy and the staff is looking at him as a guy to come in his sophomore year and play a much bigger role. I know you emphasized "COULD" but I would disagree that the staff feels anything has changed with Giles.

Sorry for the trifecta of Duke posters but agree with the above, Duke's prospects getting worse with Gabriel would imply at least Gabriel thinks the chances he's behind Giles is high. Giles not coming would most likely mean plenty of minutes for Gabriel, which would only increase his interest.

Re: DeLaurier, from what I've seen and his current ranking ~ 40, he won't get many minutes his freshman year at Duke. As a fan who hates to see transfers, I'd hope DeLaurier would understand that before committing to Duke.

Or Gabriel just likes the terps better..... Not everyone wants be a puke

Yes, he's been to LNWR before but he's never picked a college before. Moving us to his next to last visit has to be a good thing! We are no longer one of the crowd, we are a 50:50 chance now! Would be really nice to get some positive vibes back on this board!

Me thinks the in home visit went really well and that's why Giles changed his visit to LNWR

lets make it four...lol....i think its more of a gabriel thing as well...besides you gotta have some amile jeffersons, guys that are gonna be around for a while for roster stability....i think gabriel could see good minutes behind tatum and giles (assuming) at the 3 and 4 (at least 20 minutes per if they avg 30 mpg each...with his rise up the rankings, he may be seeing himself completely different, more as a star right now guy, which makes sense

Wonder if Gabriel and Delaurier know they are just considered good enough to "fill a roster", makes you think doesn't it?! It kind of confirms one of my suspicions about the relative honesty of the Rat King when he talks to recruits. Also kind of explains all the bigs/wings who transfer!

Giles coming to LNWR can't be bad news so I'm going to believe we have a chance. Giles does seem like a very intelligent young man and might not like pukie flavored kool-aid!

Come join the Family Mr. Giles!

Is that the same kind of "fill the roster" as guys such as any Plumlee, Matt Jones, Jefferson, etc, all who've played an integral part in winning a title? I'm all for bashing Roy but I know when to also give credit. K knows Giles is a one year player so the other guys are longer-term to develop and take over, while getting PT even with Giles on board.

Yeah, I'm sure those guys want to be compared to the chumps you mentioned. Way to prove my point, pukie! Go to puke and sit the bench for 3-4 years, unless you get lucky and some OAD gets hurt and you might see the court. (if you haven't been recruited over by that point that is)

Come to the Tar Heel Family and play starter's minutes!

So wait a second, compared to "chumps"? Most of those chumps were rated just as high, with the exception of Miles (who is now making coin in the NBA). Matt Jones (is a starter) is only a sophomore, yet has a ring. Jefferson is a Senior and has started many games, again with a ring. Mason Plumlee? Started plenty of games, and yep, is in the NBA. Lol Gabriel is rising but nowhere near an NBA lock. Same can be said for Javin - ton of upside, but not near an NBA lock.

I realize this is a Heel board, but your inconsistency (and inaccuracy) is just terrible.

Haha don't act like all the plumlee's and the other players you listed weren't highly touted out of high school. They just didn't/don't have one and done talent and rat face is doing a ****** *** job helping them reach their potential, as usual. yes, this is a heels board. Your ************ has trumped all. Bye bye

Where exactly did I say the other players weren't highly rated? Plumlees? Miles, FYI, was a 3-star who was a starter in the NBA (and stil playing good minutes). That's really bad development by K, eh? Mason won a title, had a good career, and plays in the NBA. Marshall? Overrated out of HS (Duke and unc have had their share of players being rated higher simply because of the school name), and going to serve our country after playing days are done. I'm pretty darn proud of that.

Good luck with Giles. You'll need it. A ton of it.

I find your posts obnoxious on the Duke board and doubly so here. Not only are your "facts" incorrect (Miles was a solid 4-star and rated just about right), but your posts are disrespectful and ignorant. Go bug the bums on the UK boards.

What does any of what that pukie blowhard said have to do with Delaurier and Gabriel feeling like "roster fillers" ? I also never mentioned ONE word about whether or not ratty could develop bigs (he can't). I said...ratty lies to recruits and then recruits over them and then they transfer. Is it clear now? I have no desire to ever remember where any pukie was rated or what they are doing now, but thanks for the info. Maybe there is a board that cares, but this ain't it. BTW: high rating doesn't prevent those ham fisted oafs from being chumps!

Giles and others will soon see past the evil side of blue.

Go Tar Heels!

I meant that you need a mix of of guys to fill a roster...OAD...2-3 year guys,,,and def 4 year guys...i think javin fits a def 4 year guy ala amile jefferson

Someone has to fill the Dennard memorial seat at the end of the bench, where all of Dook's bigs end up. Plumless "serving" his country says a great deal about your coach and basketball.

Lol you ask where you commented about potential/development. Read your own post about "rat face doing a ***** ******* job with helping them reach their potential......" I'll wait for an explanation. Actually, don't, I'll step off the thread out of respect for Mike. You made a mistake and I caught it, no biggie.

SK, really? Both coaches go deep with talent whenever possible (Roy has historically cast a wider net - K is starting to do so more often now). I'd like to see where I was wrong with my post. You have the UK troll (acting as a Duke fan) saying Miles was a "solid" star recruit, yet he was a 3-star when he originally verballed to Johnson and Stanford (check Rivals). Ouch Lobsters. It's sad that you troll a Duke board as a UK fan, but now UNC? Go cry more over the 40-oh snap coulda-been, and let (2) great programs have their time disagreeing over their teams.

UNC fans, lobsters is a troll. He's actually a UK and Cal fan (it's pretty well known on our board).

Good day gentlemen.
