I saw Ted 2 and I actually laughed more at the sequel. Did you like "Ted?"Yea i'm avoiding that one

you can probably finish up in about 7 minutes.I never would, but I guess I wouldn't knock it if that was someone else's fancy. For me, if I want to see Blake Lively in a bikini - I'll google "Blake Lively in a bikini". Saves me the $12 to get into the theater, and the 2+ hours of sitting through an otherwise crappy movie. Not saying The Shallows is going to be a crappy movie (I don't know much about it) but just using this as an example.

Agree here. I liked the second one better than the first one. The scene that imitated the scene from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where John Candy is listening to "Do the Mess Around" and wrecks the car....I laughed pretty hard at the Ted version of that.I saw Ted 2 and I actually laughed more at the sequel. Seven?? Lol. If this was in person, I would finish before Blake Lively even got her shirt off.you can probably finish up in about 7 minutes.
Exactly. They did several "tributes" in the sequel.Agree here. I liked the second one better than the first one. Bro....In regards to Ted 2, I'm of the opinion that it's extremely rare for a sequel to be better than the first. Empire Strikes Back is about the only one I can think of off the top of my head. And with comedies, my belief is even stronger.
I do think sequels can top the original, but with comedies, I can't think of a single one that is better than the original. I can't comment on Ted 2, as I haven't seen it (have seen the original, thought it was funny), but generally speaking, comedy sequels are weak.In regards to Ted 2, I'm of the opinion that it's extremely rare for a sequel to be better than the first. As soon as they knew Will Smith wasn’t going to be involved this movie should have been canceled.Independence Day
Ghostbusters was one of my favorite movies as a child. When I found out they were doing a complete reboot and not involving at least part of the original cast I was a little disappointed. I remember reading a long time ago that they had originally planned to do a third one with Chris Farley joining the cast. I’m sure that would have been great to see.Ghostbusters
Surely you're not suggesting that Empire isn't the best movie in the Star Wars series. I'd hate to put you on ignore, but I'm a man of principle.Bro....
From what I've heard the original cast of Ghostbusters (sans Harold Ramis) do have cameos in the film, but they aren't supposed to be the same characters, just random New Yorkers. I want this movie to be funny, because I have enjoyed other things that those actresses have been in, but the trailer hasn't really done it for me. I hope I'm wrong though and it turns out to be really funny/entertaining. We will find out soon enough. As soon as they knew Will Smith wasn’t going to be involved this movie should have been canceled.

While I agree that it's gonna be fairly lousy, I'm still gonna see it because Independence Day is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. As soon as they knew Will Smith wasn’t going to be involved this movie should have been canceled.
In the original trilogy, each film was worse than the preceding one.Surely you're not suggesting that Empire isn't the best movie in the Star Wars series. I'd hate to put you on ignore, but I'm a man of principle.
Or last year's straight-to-Crackle Joe Dirt 2.I do think sequels can top the original, but with comedies, I can't think of a single one that is better than the original. I really also kind of hate this trend of doing a sequel to a movie that hasn't had a followup in many years. Namely, Independence Day and Ghostbusters later this summer.
I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. In the original trilogy, each film was worse than the preceding one.

Man was I disappointed by that. The original Joe Dirt is probably a top 10 comedy for me. I thought it was hilarious and it's one I quote frequently. I never saw the second one but a friend of mine told me it was terrible.Or last year's straight-to-Crackle Joe Dirt 2.

That's my understanding too. If they would have written a small roll for a couple of them to be teachers or something like that for the new cast I might have been willing to pay to see it. I’m with you on the trailers. They just don’t look that great. From what I've heard the original cast of Ghostbusters (sans Harold Ramis) do have cameos in the film, but they aren't supposed to be the same characters, just random New Yorkers.
Take away the Hoth battle (a very cool collections of scenes) and Empire Strikes Back is dull. Yes, it advances the storyline. Yes, Yoda is introduced and yes Luke learns directly from Darth Vader that he's his son, but in terms of action it just doesn't compare with A New Hope or Return of the Jedi. It just doesn't. The asteroid field scene? Decent. Everything once they get to cloud city.....boring.I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
The original is great, but I'm not paying to see the new one. The trailers look horrible. I'll catch it on HBO or Netflix. While I agree that it's gonna be fairly lousy, I'm still gonna see it because Independence Day is one of my favorite movies from my childhood.
You gotta admit his speech near the end is pretty good though.Bill Pullman as President - totally not feeling it.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. I'm not going to say you have bad taste though.I thought Independence Day sucked.
You have bad taste. The original Joe Dirt is probably a top 10 comedy for me.
American Pie 2 and Austin Powers 2 were both slightly better than the originals I'd say.
American Pie 2 was AWFUL!American Pie 2 and Austin Powers 2 were both slightly better than the originals I'd say. Both then slipped with the 3rd movies though.
American Pie 1 had the Shannon Elizabeth scene. Nothing in any American Pie movie since has come close to how good that scene was.American Pie 2 and Austin Powers 2 were both slightly better than the originals I'd say. Both then slipped with the 3rd movies though.

So you're going to ignore every other component of the movie, including the parts you specified, and judge it primarily as an action flick? I could probably match you in a debate countering that point alone. Hell, the light saber battle between Luke and Vader is the most significant one in the entire series, and arguably better than the one with Darth Maul. I'll also point out that the movie was 75% over by the time they got to Bespin.Take away the Hoth battle (a very cool collections of scenes) and Empire Strikes Back is dull. "F. Scott Fitzgerald"Agree here. I liked the second one better than the first one. The scene that imitated the scene from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where John Candy is listening to "Do the Mess Around" and wrecks the car....I laughed pretty hard at the Ted version of that.

Godfather 2 was much better.Godfather part 2 may be better than the first, and that's saying something because the first Godfather was the best movie ever.

I'm about to start a war. Goodfellas > GodfatherGodfather 2 was much better.
I'm about to start a war. Goodfellas > Godfather
I watched it a few nights ago. First time I've seen either one of them. Had to split it up into two viewings though. That's too much to watch all at once for me.Coincidentally, The Godfather Epic was on HBO tonight. It's a chronological 6-hour Godfather I & II, with deleted scenes. I kinda like it better. I liked the scene where they "named" Hyman Roth.
