Should Trubiski Start vs GT

Marquise is starting. I, for one, hope he plays as well as he did against Georgia Tech last year. Fedora got us over the UVA hump and I sure hope he can get the Atlanta monkey off our back too.

I do believe Mitch should start but hopefully Marquise will have a solid game. To me the most disappointing group on the whole team is the offensive line. They have done a decent job at pass protection, however their run blocking is just horrible. The running backs do not have anywhere to run the ball. It is a shame when you cannot open holes against AT&T and Del. Our O-line passes the eye test during warm ups, but they do not have a clue how to run block.

In order to have any shot this weekend we will have to win in a shoot out. Our run defense is so bad I cannot believe people even attempt a pass against us. The Hens only hurt themselves when they threw the ball. I see a 50 something to 30 something type of game this week with GT getting a much needed win. I hope I am wrong. Our defense needs some big uglies in a bad way.

MW will start. Fed is far too determined to see himself as having been correct all along to start Trubisky, at least this early. But at least now we can be fairly certain that if MW looks against anybody else the way he did against SoCar, that Fed will send in Mitch rather than die with MW.

My fear is that you and others are correct. Fedora's ego has given much favoritism to Williams last year and thus far this season and the offense is generally sluggish or filled with head scratchers. Seems to me that Mitch won the starting job on Saturday and it also seems that Fedora and staff should worry less about their egos and consider the team, the future of the coaches, wins/losses and the fans . . . butts in seats. The WR's were happy on Saturday and the all but possibly 1 member of team seemed excited . . . .

Full stadiums look better to recruits and have a huge impact on concessions/$$$$. Confused fan base may not be there due to frustration. Question is. does OBVIOUS need to beat us down before we make the right decision . . . or do we insist that it does.

Wait just so I can add to the excuses list, now people aren't showing up to games because of who's starting at QB?

Also, Fedora recruited Trubisky, not Marquise, so I don't think his "ego" is keeping Trubisky on the bench. I want Trubisky to start too, but Marquise DID single-handedly beat Tech last season. I'm interested to see how it plays out.

MW was a very highly recruited QB coming out of HS. He has been very good for the Heels at times. He has, as referenced, made some head scratching errors from time to time. He is a senior, has great experience and we, as Heels, should support him as the starter.
That said, if MW is not having a good game or has made a bad TO or two, then thank goodness we have MT.

Butch Davis got us over the uva hump, 44-10. One of the most dominating performances of his tenure at UNC. Dwight Jones took a 4 yd. crossing route from TJ Yates and turned it up near the Hoo sideline and scored on the game's first play. It was 31-3 at the half, IIRC. Withers beat uva 28-17 the next year in Chapel Hill, and it wasn't that close....we took a knee at their 2 yd. line to end it.

Great point with Fedora having recruited the QB that he's currently keeping as the backup - didn't think about that.

I'm generally not one to say any player single handedly determines the result of a game - but if we say MW beat GT by himself last season, I think it's fair to say he single handedly lost us the SCar game this season. And I'm not sure which one should be more relevant. His performance against GT because it's again GT, or his performance against SCar since it's this year vs. last year.

We should know whether Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde has shown up to play QB by the end of the first quarter. I sure hope it's Dr. Jekyll. If not, at least we have a viable option.

Yes, I'm saying a frustrated fan base is a significant part of attendance. Sounds like you may have a better reason for the 38,000-40,000 attendance, so please share your knowledge.

Thanks in advance, it is appreciated.

Isn't that complicated. We have a front-runner fanbase. Look at basketball. If we drop a couple ACC games early in the season, attendance thins out like crazy.

There's a reason why in the past 4 years, both Roy Williams and Mike Fox have called out our fanbase for not showing up to games. Fedora knows not to do that, but he would if he could.

And the answer is...as I said earlier, Fed don't care what others think and neither does Quise. :)
