So none of our gas stations have any gas ...

Its anazing how fragile the nations psyche is regarding gas prices. Hopefully terrorists never realize how much damage they can do by just disrupting the supply a little bit. Blow up a pipeline or a few oil rigs and prices would sky rocket and the economy take a nose dive.

Yup, those bastards clearly haven't taken an economics class. They're too busy killing people, which only lowers the demand. If they attacked the other side of the equation, and damaged the supply - they could cause havoc.

Here's what I don't understand about gas- especially now that fracking is pretty much up in running in about 2 hours from complete shut down.

Why are we in a hurry to drill out own oil? Seems to me we should use everybody else's oil first- then when the time comes that everyone else is out, we are holding all the cards.

I understand the need for fuel should Hillary get elected and we have another war. But unless we are in dire straits, why waste our own stuff when we can waste someone else's?

the Saudi-Iranian oil price war is designed to put the frackers out of business. Fracking needs oil to be around $80 per barrel to be profitable and was the reason oil prices started downward originally. if these companies go bankrupt then starting back up is a much slower process.

My understanding is that the fracking guys can go from zero to sixty in about 2 hours.

I went to a lunch yesterday with a Energy Portfolio manager that invests in MLP's. Expect gas prices to go up over next 12 months. Gasoline disruption is because of transportation issues, etc. Even if we ant to put more rigs in service now it weould take over a year because there is no labor to do this now.

that would be tough to do from bankruptcy. I got an email from a stock guru who said a number have already declared bankruptcy , unfortunately I deleted it so I can't give all the pertinent details.. I do agree we need to use up all the foreign oil that we can before using our own. The other problem is people fighting fracking and coal mining.

Could be just me but I don't give a shit about gas prices and never have. One of my buddy's girlfriend darn near gets off by driving around and finding the lowest-priced gas station in town. Whoopty friggin do, you saved a whopping $1.02 on your fill-up but probably burned that money driving around searching for the lowest price.

There's an app for that.

This pretty much sums up the attitude on this thread.

Lol my dad is the most anal creature of habit that ever existed. Whenever we went on trips we always left at the same time stopped at the same restaurants and gassed up at the same stations. Problem was he was anal about saving money as well. When his fav gas station raised prices on one of our trips he was LIVID. We went frome station to station wasting an hour so he could save 5 cents a gal. My mom was losing her shyt. I'll never forget my dad screaming at some hapless attendant who came out to pump as we sped off again from a station after seeing the price "RAY (last name) WILL NEVER PAY 75CENTS FOR A GALLON OF GAS!!"
