All of that just to see a dark circle get in front of a bright circle.

coolest thing, seriously.

we were at a party and 200 people with kids stood on a street corner at 2:45 in darkness.

It was darker, or seemed much darker, from my own vision. And, the temperature dropped as well.

Yeah, it was cool. It wasn't nearly as dark as I thought it would be but was cool. We drove to this place down the road from us that was a really high spot and it was awesome.

I do think it's kinda cool, but it's funny to listen to people essentially say "It was night time for 5 minutes.... 5 hours before it was supposed to be night time!"

I heard a blurb about ancient civilizations like the Aztecs banging drums to make the sun come back ... and then of course feeling like they had done exactly that. I guess that would make you think it was REALLY important to do it again the next time.
So in about the five minutes it takes for the total eclipse to occur and go away, they had enough time to...

1.) Notice it was getting darker.
2.) Give a damn.
3.) Panic.
4.) Think of something to do.
5.) Decide on banging on drums, of all things.
6.) Get the drums.
7.) Bang on them.

Aztecs must have been some spastic MF'ers.

They didn't have Hellman's, Crystal Pepsi, XBox, football, basketball, or internet porn.... it's not like they were very busy most days :p

Our future is in really good hands. Just told this group of kids that there would be another eclipse tonight. Half the earth would block out the sun and it would be dark for about 9 hours. One kid said, "That's cool, what time does it start?" I said, "Around 9."

It's Nebraska. Those kids have probably never even seen a hill before.

Who needs Harvard when you're got Cornhusker Football, by God!
It's nearly a religion out here. I catch myself pulling against them sometimes just to watch the meltdowns. I will have to say that I met Coach Osborn and he's a good guy. Also met Aaron Davis of the 1994 National Championship team and he's a great guy.

It's a natural reaction when you move somewhere new and one particular team is ultra popular. It's why I despise UGA Football.
