So, this eclipse thingy

I was in Brevard, had a full minute of it. The clouds formed above us about twenty min til, dark thick stuff, so we started driving in the direction of clear sky.

Lucked out in a random field sw of brevard with a huge hole in the clouds.

It was kinda eerie.

Craziest thing was the gnats. We jumped out of the car 2 or 3 min to spare, and were just waiting for the shadow bands/snakes and corona. But a minute after the sun popped back out the gnats were swarming. Couldn't even dial a phone due to continuous swatting til we got back into the car. I guess they went to bed and woke up pissy and unrested.

you do?...did you enjoy the football experience there?...thought it was a bit overrated, but i get it.
Oh absolutely. The two best things about tailgating at UT are 1) you can arrive via boat* and 2) your excessive drinking seems relatively normal.

* only other college venue you can do this is Husky Stadium in Washington

My wife went to UT. Been to many a game at Neyland. Saw Manning play there and went to the ND game the following year when the Vols won the title. Game day in Knoxville is unlike anything I've ever seen anywhere else.
