Some mid-season intel...

What's your beef with a 16-2 club?
Some fans just can't be satisfied. We're 16-2 vs a tough schedule and currently undefeated in the league. How many of you wouldn't have taken that record at this point if asked preseason? I know I would have. I'm thoroughly enjoying this season and look forward to continued improvement.

You all embarrass UNC academics for not being able to simply interpret what I wrote. I guess this is the quality of poster on the free boards. Not once did I criticize the team. Just because I see some limitations with a few players, while heralding two others, I get attacked by a herd of wolfers in Ramses clothing. Loving the Tar Heels doesn't one has to bury their head in the sand to issues and limitations. Oh, and learn how to comprehend the English language on a 6th grade level. Your world will change.

**DROP THENAME CALLING** I never said I had problems with the team. Time for you to go to night school and take a reading comprehension class.

If you have to resort to name calling....well that speaks volumes for your ability to hold a civil discourse. I teach Language Arts and I have read your posts very carefully. I often disagree with the guys you are arguing with, but I seldom find the need to call them names or insult their intelligence. The last bastion of the ignorant is to attack the credibility of their detractors. Intelligent MEN try to refute the points made, not attack the author!

At the end of this year we could see Meeks, JJ, JB, and Hicks go pro. They all have flaws, but who doesn't, and they all have skills or physical traits coveted by the NBA. I don't let what might happen next year color my enjoyment of this special season though. I love the joy and intensity these guys play with; and I am impressed by the camaraderie and toughness the exhibit! This season is one of my favorites in recent memory and I am beginning to feel something wondrous in the air.

Wow, it sure is good to be back on top!

Acting like you are smarter than the room, being intentionally insulting, going with the free board critique, and telling people they have to work on 'reading comprehension' is not really indicative of one who is comfortable with their competence. Most people who are intelligent don't have to go around telling other people about it. We already know.

No one is "attacking" you because you pointed out flaws. The fact is, most of the stuff you said is false, and yet you preach it as if it's 100% correct. Then, when no one gives you the circlejerking you crave and disagree with you, you resort to playing victim. Which is what makes it even more laughable. Worst of all, you have to resort to claiming superiority by attempting to undermine the school you claim to support. And yet somehow, you manage to insist you're a "Tar Heel Fanatic"

Here's a suggestion by a frequenter of the "free boards": Go back to wherever you originally posted. If this is how someone is going to act when he's met with disagreement, I sure as hell won't miss seeing your posts here.

I agree with some of his statements as well perhaps if he didn't make them so vehemently, as if you're foolish not to agree, he'd meet with less resistance. Most of what he said was moot, not set in stone.

Easy Chief. Lot of great guys here who have been here for years. Name calling and "talking down" to others is just not going to fly here or on the premi side. Check that condescending attitude at the door before it gets you in trouble. Just some friendly advice from your friendly, die hard, Tar Heel Mod.

Most of the stuff he said is not false yet , but it's not true yet either. It is an opinion and will play out as the season progresses. His points definitely have merit. Many on this board have no tolerance for the opinions of those who aren't always sunshine and roses (no pun intended). I think we have an excellent chance to bring home a NC and if that happens and we lose 4 guys then I can live with it.

vehement? I would have to say not really. Blunt and to the point yes.

I agree with cory's sentiment but I do think UNCbeliever was attacked for simply stating a dissenting opinion. Frankly, I believe a lot of the same things he does.

Right, I don't care at all about what he said (agree with some and not with some of it). I have no problem at all with some criticism. It would be boring if we all felt the same.

Almost everything he said was pure speculation, yet stated as fact. Blunt is an understatement. Not one "I think/I don't think/IMO..." in there. The points he makes are open to interpretation, not accepted fact.

I'm on the record for being against the "sunshine and roses" crew as much as anyone. Perhaps more. But I also pointed out we are in the middle of a potentially sepcial season, which is why I suggested enjoying a 5-0, 2 loss ACC team before walking to the ledge because of the next one. None of us know what next season will look like, so why someone would make statements as absolutes is beyond me.

The entire gripe (or at least mine) is with the fact that he's playing victim after the fact he insulted multiple posters on this board and UNC in the crossfire simply for people disagreeing with his opinion. When in fact the only thing he's said so far that is potentially true were his first to sentences about Meeks and Hicks being gone.

...and the stuff he said about JB is utterly laughable and 100% false. Our pros who played against him this summer have testified to that... I believe I would take their word.

You NEVER know what kids are going to do. Maybe they decide like the Fla kids did the year they won it all and come back and try again. Now wouldn't that be special? Although we do loose 4 to graduation, we would still be loaded. To pretend that any of us know for sure is being foolish.

Meeks is DEFINITELY gone; hicks is starting to get attention from scouts; stillman wouldn't start for Fairfield; berry doesn't break down defenders and nba guards need to; JJ is a 2nd rounder purely on upside and nothing more t this point; we have no depth next year by anything yet seen even if all others stay but Meeks

The part I bolded above is what I think is a little over the top. You're saying that if we bring back
1) Berry, 2) Hicks, 3) Jackson, 4) Maye, 5) Pinson, 6) Williams, 7) Britt,
incomers 8)Bradley, 9) Woods, and 10) Robinson (three top 100 guys),

and players we have a chance yet to get..... we have "no depth?" Oh boo hoo! Say that to any other school in or out of the ACC, and they'll roll their eyes. Most would kill to have that amount of depth.

Thread got hijacked pretty hard. Almost forgot what it originally was.

Once again, good info nonetheless.

Yeah, it certainly took a strange troll-y turn somehow, huh? (all it takes is one )
Oh well... was just trying to share some inside stuff I've just been fortunate enough to have come my way. As long as my fellow legit UNC fans on here appreciate it that's ok.

We have had a very special yr in football and this basketball season may end up apecial as well. The football team had flaws that people pointed out during the yr that. Ame back and hurt them in the post season. The basketball team has some flaws as well. The difference is the basketball teams flaws arnt as glaring as football or it being a lack of personel. Enjoy the ride guys. When was last time we had special seasons in both sports.

@Archer2 is just doing his thing as chief of fan police. Surely this isn't a shock to y'all? It's been going on for years. What this thread has devolved into is exactly why I virtually never participate on Radar.

Lol I'm sorry we aren't all as LEGIT of fans as you. @UNCbeliever posts on the football board all the time. Funny though, I don't see you over there. Maybe I should check Auburn's football board.

Enjoy that high horse.

So it's alright for @gary-7 to not-so-subtly question the fanhood of posters -- or at least you don't say anything when he does it -- but when I throw it back at him, it's not okay?

I'm sincerely asking you; not calling you out.

Show me. Have not read every single thread, I got here with the serious name calling and very condescending remarks from uncbeliever

The "troll" he's referencing is a paying member of this site. I get that UNCbeliever shouldn't use language or name-calling and i'm not arguing that -- I just don't think there was a darn thing wrong with his OP and he got shot down for it.

I mean, it's whatever. I'm not going to start an inquisition over it, but it is pretty vanilla that virtually no contrarian opinions can be presented on this particular board. The discussion is much more varied and all-encompassing on Blitz -- negative and differing opinions are presented, and if they're ridiculous, they are debated and proven false with stats and examples, not flippant "well you're not a REAL fan" accusations.

Gracious! We've had EVERYTHING here. Roy needs to go and on and on and on! NOBODY stops anybody from posting what they believe, but the name calling won't fly, or the superior attitude. What fan constantly puts down his coach and players? Many bring up our guys short comings and such and it is discussed. But this thread should have NEVER come to this crap. jmhho

I'm just laughing now Mikey... apparently a poster I won't stoop to tag doesn't know the difference between an adjective --- a made-up one, no less ("troll-y") --- and a noun, which of course would be required for actual "name-calling".
Don't worry, I'm gonna resist the (albeit justified) temptation to go off on the poster who saw fit to tag me and cast aspersions for no good reason.

Here we go with his all too familiar football fans vs basketball fans schtick. It's his go to move.
You can be a fan of just basketball, just football, or just lacrosse.....makes no difference to me. Different strokes for different folks. It's just annoying when people trump their own personal fanhood when they ain't go no clue how big of a fan the other person is. That's why I dish it back on Gary. He plays the "I'm a REAL fan" card more than just about any poster on this whole site.

But don't worry, I will now remove myself from this thread. I've got a busy day ahead reading up on the difference between adjectives and nouns.

Exactly. Who cares how big of a fan anyone is of any sport? Actually, I can tell you who cares- the fan police that are found almost exclusively on Radar.

Do I wish more basketball onlies regularly cheered for and followed UNC in other sports? Yes, I do, because it benefits that particular program, as well as all sports, as well as the University. But I understand why basketball onlies exist and thrive and I hold no ill-will towards them.
