My disbelief in something you cannot possibly prove exists is my first mistake? lololol okay. Just to be clear, is it my disbelief in god? or my disbelief in YOUR god. Would I be better off as a Muslim than an anti-theist? How about a Buddhist?

I'm absolutely not a an anti-theist, like UNCboy10, but I do understand his contempt for simple religious minds. When your political beliefs are merely extensions of your religious ideology, you're exactly like these Radical Muslims without the balls and weaponry to do harm. Nah. The media just wants viewers (actually, they just want revenue from advertisements, which requires viewers). So the media pumps up drama and action because that draws viewers.
As far as the GOP and Democrats, they just want voters. And voters just want money back in their districts, even if they don't want money in other districts. So politicians will keep getting elected and sending money back home so as to be reelected. There's really no agenda past that.
Most of the time, conspiracies can be debunked with simple answers.

Answer the question! Why is is OK to abort a baby in the first trimester? What is so magical about that timeframe? What makes the second or third trimester off-limits? This country still managed to create plenty of jobs when the effective marginal tax rate was over 90% so I'm tired of hearing the job creation argument. It's ridiculous to give rich people tax breaks when the middle class is slowly getting gutted. The only reason the tax rate for rich people is so high is because they write the tax code, and every other law for that matter. It's disgusting. Everyone is an atheist. Some people just take it one god further. This is the sad truth religious people can never see. You would laughingly deny the existence of Zeus or Thor or the flying spaghetti monster but you somehow think that YOUR god is somehow different than all the other ones. Atheism isn't a positive belief system. It isn't an ideology. It has no context, it doesn't actually exist except in the relative sense.

I'm an agnostic, if we're picking labels. It is interesting how people 1) separate themselves from God 2) make God so much like themselves and 3) presume there are different Gods. Somehow, the God of Jews and Christians are the same God, but not for Muslims... or Buddhists, or Hindus. I've always sort of thought hat true atheists were evolved people that didn't need an Avatar to make them feel compelled to be a civil human being. But, I also believe that anti-theists are depriving themselves of the Higher Consciousness (God). But, I can only speculate because... I'm not them and they're not me. A lot of religious zealots lack any kind of humility. Then again, a lot of atheists and anti-theists show little humility in the direction of people who are religious. There are a lot more benign religious people than there are overt, prejudiced ones.

I'd say the place ceased to be a true Republic, in the original sense, in 1861 (whatever was left of it at that point). It became "The United States IS..." instead of "are." After the Civil War, it moved quickly in the direction of an oligarchy/plutocracy, whichever you like. And, you can bet your balls-to-a-barn-dance that status is not changing. That's the saddest part. It's really a sad statistic that the general population of this country can be duped in so many ways at the same time, while they think that they're affecting the outcome! And, of course, they argue with each other over which of their respective sides is ruining the place faster. It's never about which one is improving it. Having been around partisans of both sides, it's really tough to measure which is worse.
