You're right in that depth had nothing to do with the fact that MW can't hit the broad side of a barn tonight but depth can certainly help protect him and depth can help keep the defense fresh. Depth isn't an excuse but it contributes to the lines on both sides getting gassed. Clemson is #1 for a reason and we are seeing why.U tell me to step away from the ledge because I say the sanctions have zero to do with this game? Check yourself there pal.
Depth has zero to do with the outcome tonight. We are simply outmatched man on man in a lot of key spots. Clemson is very good and we can't seem to maintain any drives on offense which is keeping our defense on the field for extended periods. We aren't getting a push on D which is allowing Watson to do whatever the hell he wants to do. Take that uphill climb into consideration and then we have a head coach who makes a fake punt call like that.....we need all the help we can get right now.
Alright, I'll agree with you there. It was going to take a nearly perfect game to pull out a win. So far, its been far from that. Marquise has played SUPER TIGHT all night.Tru I don't disagree that depth helps in football. My point is exactly what you just hit on. Our shortcomings in this game have zero to do with that. Line play, marquis Williams disappearing, play along, etc are much more relevant. Our lines on both sides have their hands full but they've also given marquis time on some throws that he frankly hasn't even been close on. Regardless, it's an uphill climb in this game. Our inability to convert red zone opportunities into touchdowns killed us.
