When I was a teenager, I took my father to the Voodoo Lounge Tour for his birthday. Bought his ticket and got him a t-shirt.
I went to that tour's show in Columbia, SC. I saw the Steel Wheels tour show at The Gator Bowl in December, 1989.

First time I ever saw them (my first concert ever), my older cousins let me tag along in 1981 in Hampton Coliseum in VA. I was only 13, I think. Turns out, some of that show was filmed and wound up on "Let's Spend The Night Together" which was a theater film release.

I just like that photo session... from the Jumpin' Jack Flash 45rpm USA picture sleeve.

the Stones were good up through Tattoo You. after that, maybe 3 or 4 songs are decent. But, they truly are the Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band in the World.

It’s funny you said that, as I actually had typed out (but then deleted before I posted) that they would’ve been better off to stop putting out albums after Tattoo You*, and just release the occasional single very few years, as they did have a couple decent tunes but nothing memorable after that.

*I'm sure you already know this strum, but Tatto You was comprised of songs originally recorded during their previous 4 or 5 albums - some even as far back as early 70's when Mick Taylor was still in the group. They were re-worked for the TY LP, but they weren't exactly new songs.

Yeah, I learned about that back in the 90's, I think. Seems like I was reading an interview with Keith in Guitar World, or something. It made sense when I listened to it after I read it. The song structures, etc.. The song "Slave" sounded like it could easily be on Black & Blue. Same with Waiting On A Friend. Start Me Up features that quintessential Keith opening chord riff. Keef plays in Open G most of the time. That's what got me started to play in that tuning.

If I had to choose the Stones songs that I listen to most often, it would be from Beggar's Banquet-Exile On Main Street. The first Rolling Stones record I ever owned as a kid was a compilation called Made In The Shade. It was a hand-me-down, and I was like 10 or 11. I didn't really know who they were. I liked the girl on the cover! And my favorite song was "Dance Little Sister."
