Year after year I look forward to the basketball season and for the last 60 years the roller coaster ride has been great but the older I get the more I realize the sun does not rise just for Carolina hoops.

I am presently in Jamaica enjoying the very best week of my life celebrating my one year anniversary to the most precious woman on this planet. I know there is a God because he created this woman just for me.

So I continue to be blessed regardless if UNC wins or loses.

Moderator Mike Irby has been dealing with medical problems for so long but he too knows life is too short and valuable to walk the plank after a Tar Heel loss as every day regardless of the medical problems is a big blessing.

Count your blessings and like Shaun look at the glass half full instead of half empty

Hi IDUNK4HEELS...Thank you. you are bound for HEAVEN.

!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TAR HEELS !!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your anniversary.

I’ll admit I used to really sweat UNC sports, not any more. There are waaaaay too many other things that are more important. UNC sports are merely a diversion, no more nor less.

I’m in my 40s and have become a more mature fan than in my 20s. I’d be pretty upset right now with the team. You gain perspective when you live long enough. While that Clemson loss at home hurts, I’m not going to jump off a ledge. I just want the kids to develop, get the weight of the UNC legacy off their shoulders and grow as men.

We are spoiled as fans as we expect to win every game. This season is a reset, but should make us more humble. We'll be back.

I guess the question I have when this happens once a decade or so is why it never seems to happen to DOOK?

I wonder why we expected a high level of success this season (Oh right, Cole Anthony* and Armando Bacot).
Cole was exciting to watch in games1,2, 3 but seriously downshifted and now he's on the bench recovering. Harris showed a few minutes of flash, now he's gone. Manley hasn't played. Francis, some flash, now he's gone.
Leaky has struggled and missed time with injury. Brob missed time - let's hope he can play Saturday.
Huffman and Miller get no ACC minutes. Smith is no Jet and that's hardly his fault. Only Garrison and Brob have shown a good level of improvement this season. Considering what has happened to us since November 7, our record accurately reflects our abilities. Yeah, we should have beaten Clemson, but...
I would love to see us get better and snag a bunch of victories from here on out. But if we don't l won't be surprised. And l won't stop rooting for them this season or beyond.
GO HEELS!

Excellent post Dunk! Happy Anniversary! We are blessed. Think about programs that have never made it back ( i.e. Indiana, UCLA).

Guys are riding me hard at work after every loss. I have my health and 4 awesome kids and a great wife. So I agree there is more important thiings in life but it still hurts going through a season like this. I keep pulling for the guys hoping something clicks with them. Go Heels ! Be a great story if we could run off some wins now.

It's a down year. No big deal. It's not like we are Michigan Football with no conference titles since 2004 and no national titles since 97. And we are certainly not UCLA or Indiana basketball who have both been irrelevant for the last several years.

The Heels will be back strong in 2021. Go Heels!

I am 66 and I agree wit the OP BUT still love my Heels and always will. We are in a tough patch but no worries....next year will be a very good one I predict. We are so lucky to be a part of this GREAT Family.....

BTW Clemson beat dook tonight so that makes me feel very good!!!!!

For years even before Roy Williams returned, Me and other Tar Heel fans would gather at their place or mine for just about every game....After I got married over 20 years ago, my wife would always make something, or I would grill some burgers, hotdogs, ribs or something for the weekend games, and my Tar Heel buddies would come over, and we would Cheer and Cuss at times as we watched our Tar Heels......It started out that way this year as our Tar Heels beat the Irish in the opener....As the season has unfolded, my old friends are for now willing to stay at home and watch the games, so it's more quite around here at the moment for Tar Heel games, and I must say that I have saved some money this year with NO pregame meals for multiple people....Nowadays, it's just my wife and her facebook friends in the chair beside me with a heated outburst from me every now and then when my team is struggling....Once the game is over, it's over for me....That is until the next game....lol!

Agree with others in that the older you get the less important it becomes for the team to win all the time....Afterall, life is like that because you're not going to win at everything all the time....Just roll with the punches, and move on....

I’ve learned the same there’s more to life than basketball. Although the losses still hurt (especially the streak ending ) but not near as much as they used to. I’ve learned that I can’t control what 18-21 year old kids do on the field or court so I’ve tried to not let it bother me as much. When I had my scare with cancer that really helped put things in perspective. Don’t get me wrong I love my Heels and love for them to win but if they don’t I will live to see another day and continue to be blessed.

Go Heels!!

K had 9 and 21 or something some yrs back. Year he laid out with his back.

But that wasnt on K. If you remember he also got beaten by a Clemson team at home, then decided to take the rest of the year because his back hurt, and probably because he knew they were awful. Have always felt that if had been one of his usual, better teams that he would have hung around. But because he wasnt there, he had that season expunged from his personal record and dumped it in Pete Gaudets lap. His right hand man, and loyal assistant, whom he unceremoniously dumped not long after that season.

Brooks and BRob are like Deon on the 2010 team. Really nice players who have earned their starting spots. But they should be the 4th and 5th options on a normal UNC team, give or take. But like Deon, they are required to be the top options. And they are doing their best. Especially Brooks. But they just shouldn't have to be in that role.

That's not a knock. Just a comment on a team that was a bit limited in talent even before the injuries took their toll.
