I don't know who this guy is but apparently he won a BET award last night and took time to add fuel to a race war! Apparently, white people should just sit quietly and nod politely and never speak or do a thing! good grief! I love all people but this is crazy and nothing will change if we never bury this sh*t and move on!.....This cannot end well......

lol

That dude just lost money. So I hope he's thrilled with his speech. He will get fewer parts and be less desirable now. And what's funny about that is I had never heard of that guy before. He's now on my list with Kanye, Michael Moore and Bill Mahar (although Bill is working his way off that list every time he takes Islam to task) of loudmouth, divisive douchebags who could get hit by a train and I wouldn't care. I wish he had started with, "I'd like to thank my dad and my white mom".

B.E.T. - what a joke of a network. It's basically this, "you're not good enough to be on regular TV or win regular awards, so here, have this award that no one gives a shit about."

It's interesting to me because, I agree with a great deal of what he was saying in terms of the injustices that occur. I empathize with that. But, his implied solution(s) sounded more like "get ready for a war" than it did "We Shall Overcome."

As, THN11 mentioned, "BET" is a racial distinction. I understand the initial need for things like the NAACP and the United Negro College Fund, etc.. But, at some point, those institutions function to point-out that you're never equal because your colors don't match. If the goal is to be equal, then it's necessary to get the focus off of the color at some point.

"What we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to de-escalate, disarm, and not kill white people every day."

I find this interesting because of this

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/apr/21/police-kill-more-whites-than-blacks-but-minority-d/

I just don't understand why these "celebrities" can't look up the numbers before they say crap like that. What makes it worse is that their fans take them at their word and don't actually look up the facts for themselves. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I know it! I thought the same thing.... that boy is half white and got some nerve! I wish there was a way to put all this BS to rest! I saw this initially on "The View" another crazy show and Sunny whatever her name is that is a lawyer (black too) was saying that white people should not dress like or act like black people, meanwhile, her straightened hair is highlighted with BLONDE streaks!

it is getting to be more than I can handle anymore!

The View might be the lowpoint of modern society. You could learn more from staring at a white wall for 30 minutes than from watching that program.

well, you know what???? injustices happen to a lot of people! not just black people!

The problem is we are outnumbered in this country by idiots. They used to be somewhat quarantined until that Dbag Zuckerberg created Facecrook and Dorsey created Twitter. Now the idiots run rampant without any recourse.

And to amplify the chaos, certain unnamed media outlets jump on any bandwagon they can to generate more ratings. Classic Fire first, Aim second notion. Police officers cannot even do their damn jobs anymore.

Props for knowing the name of the creator of Twitter. I had no clue.

oh it is.... I sit here and shake my head every time I watch it... I just like to see what all these whiny butts are actually hearing... it was nutty today... apparently a white girl wearing corn rows (one of those Kardashian girls did I guess) and people thought it was beautiful but a celebrity black girl named ?Zandaya?? did it and someone said she looked like a Bob Marley fan and that apparently was offensive and makes all white people prejudice! ????

This has got to be a joke. If cameras prevent police officers from doing something, then its probably illegal. Police officers should absolutely be afraid of being held accountable for their actions, just like every other citizen. If having to play by the book means they can't do their job then maybe they aren't qualified to be a cop in the first place.

Speechless. If this is your belief, we are going to have to agree to (strongly) disagree. I don't have the time to go down this path if this is our starting point.

I know a couple of black people like this guy who made the BET speech. Some get so fed up and angry with everything, they convince themselves the cause for past abuses (and many current ones) are that white people are parasites and have been deliberately ripping off and stealing their ideas and culture, because black people somehow invented modern first world society.

It's fine to be upset with how certain things occur in this country, we aren't that far removed from the days of segregation and Jim Crow. By the same token, I'm not going to give you a free pass because your skin color is darker than mine, I'll voice my opinions on this matter whether he or any other BLM activist likes it or not. And if I have a criticism, it's because I take issue with your words and character, not your skin color.

I get why people get fed up with the "white male" sometimes but none of this is really necessary... .if we are going to move forward this has to stop on both "sides." Even when Justin Timberlake tweeted out this and now he is having to back track everything... I don't get it... How do we stop this crap?

"Appropriating their culture."

I'm glad when people "appropriate culture" most of the time.

Thank you, Robert Johnson.

The cameras don't have anything to do with it. Don't even get started with UNCboy , he is like a bad fart that you just can't fan or spray away.

Also, I guess if they think Justin is appropriating "their" music, that means Darius Rucker and Living Colour band will have to stop too????

I wonder if the reference to Janet in Mr Owens tweet response to Justin is about the wardrobe malfunction SHE had at the super bowl? I am not aware of anything else with the two of them. If it is, that's even more ridiculous! I'm sure Justin did not pick out her wardrobe that night, not his fault!

How do the cameras not have anything to do with it? Police officers acting like adversarial pricks and violating the constitutional rights of American citizens, and getting caught on tape is exactly what the issue is. Police brutality is nothing new. And its not surprising that a lot of cops feel like they are under attack, just because they have to play it by the book. They've been used to using these tactics for a long time, and they don't like being called out on it.

LOL don't even try, man. @uncboy10 wouldn't piss on a LEO if he was on fire. He'd just use the flames to light his joint.

Depends on the LEO. Is he going to arrest me for having a joint after I piss on him to put the flames out?

That's cute. Exactly which statement do you disagree with?

1. Police officers shouldn't be afraid of being filmed if they aren't breaking the law.
2. LEO's are not above the law, and therefore should know they will be held accountable if they break the law.
3. If a cop cant do his job by the book, then he isn't a very good cop.

Frankly, if you disagree with any of those statements, then you're an idiot.

Cameras are used in most businesses now anyway for all jobs, whether it's for security or to watch employees. It's sad that it has come to this but I do see the necessity. Some LEO do have a puffed up ego and do sometimes take things to the extreme out of frustration, while others are the complete opposite. I believe cameras are necessary for their protection as well as for the citizens.

I know you guys hate this show... I do most of the time myself but I do like to see what "women" think as they seem to speak for a few that I know...not me though and I do feel like an outcast most of the time when I see this show but... this is the discussion I was referring to

I guarantee you that the cameras vindicate more cops that they incriminate. And won't that just be so sad for you.
Narrative= destroyed.

Then this is a perfect reason to have them wear the cameras then. The cameras let the truth be known, whether that's in the cops favor, or in the public's favor.

There are a lot of d-bag cops out there that could really use a toning down - and there are some legitimately great cops out there that need vindication when wrongfully accused - this would solve both problems. As a member of the public I'm in favor of the cameras - because it's finally an equalizer. If I ever get into a he-said he-said with the fuzz - the courts are always gonna take the cops word. With cameras it can be a fair match again.

Exactly.

Additionally, figure out a way to drastically raise the salaries of LEOs. The market then will take over and more qualified people will apply, thus reducing the number of psycho power-tripping white trash police officers.

I think this is different between Massachusetts and other states. MA cops are paid fairly well in terms of base pay - but then they also get a shit ton of OT money by doing details (directing traffic, sitting in their cars near a construction site "monitoring", one was hired by my high school to patrol the school during the day - then he went on duty later at night). Those guys can make a killing off the detailing money - when they could be paying some flag man or minimum wage security guy to do the work they're doing.

*Disclosure - my father was a federal police officer, he and I have gotten into some heated debates over the value of a cop and whether they're over/under compensated for some of the stuff they do.

I can't speak for the North and more illustrious PDs like NYPD and shit, but in the South, cops are like teachers and don't make dick.
