Miami AD in a letter to donors and season ticketholders informed them that the ACC has admitted to multiple incorrect calls against Miami in the dook game including pass interference. Miami had sent a letter to the league office outlining their complaints. duh when the penalties are 23-5 sumpin' going on.
That's a baby step in the right direction. Now they need to admit it publicly and say that they are going to address the issue by improving training and holding officials more accountable for incorrect calls.
Perhaps it took the darling dookies getting the short end of the stick for them to finally address what has been obvious incompetence for a good while now. One thing is certain to me. The crews will be under a microscope for the foreseeable future due to the negative publicity this has generated, and rightfully so.
And while I understand the difficulty of making accurate calls at game speed, there are simply too many calls being missed. And when replay clearly shows that an incorrect call was made, it is incumbent upon the refs to swallow their pride and reverse the call. In the end, all that matters is getting the call correct. Both the ACC and the officials would get more respect if this were stressed in no uncertain terms.
All teams want, perhaps with the exception of NVSU and dook, is a level playing field. That shouldn't be too much to ask.
ETA: a goal line camera should be a requirement in every game that is broadcasted. I still have doubts that dook scored on their last drive.
