This Trump presser today -- pure gold

I played football and baseball through junior high. So, I was capable of playing those sports. I decided I was no longer as committed to playing those sports once I became more serious about my preference for playing music. I didn't want to risk any injury to my hands.

I don't know if I would have been able to play at a college level or not because I lost interest. If I had to guess, I would say, probably not because I lacked the commitment to actually continue doing it.

I saw "Rudy" and I realize that not everyone is able to be Lynn Swann.
So Rudy was incapable of being Lynn swann. And since you are into music you will go down in history like motzart, the eagles, lynard skynard, etc. got it

I'm actually more on-board with what you're trying to convey.

But, "being famous" doesn't = a rewarding, successful, fruitful life doing what you enjoy, either.

Going to give you a like for that but it doesn't make you as good as those folks either. Unless you just want a participation trophy.

Go look at the best and worst bands alphabetically list. I can guarantee you that I am "as good" as a lot of those people. Being famous and financially wealthy doesn't always mean you're good or bad. It might mean you were at the right place at the right time.

I'm not knocking your skills cause I have none. But don't knock my knowledge of genetics either.

You could write books and study what you know instead of teaching. Your knowledge of biology could easily be 'as good' as someone at the CDC, but you didn't feel the need to have that recognition.

I'm NOT knocking your skills. As I said above, you could easily have a unique understanding, or be able to apply your knowledge and far exceed someone who is well known, but that just wasn't your path. You were still able to push yourself as far as you wanted to push.

I have a realistic view of people. Some are better than others at certain things(it's genetic). Bolt is a great sprinter, not me. Einstein was smarter than me, you too even though you wouldn't believe it(it's genetic). MJ is GOAT, its in his DNA.

I'm a little surprised people are so thrilled about a President acting so disrespectful and petty. I get that it is just because he is on the right and all that. I understand the partisan hypocrisy that exists within us all. I just think it is a bad look for the POTUS. I think the entertainment aspect of his term could be just that. However, some restraint wouldn't hurt the dude. Then again, I can't say I am not at least somewhat entertained.

And everyone called Obama the "entertainer and chief"

I would buy that a little easier if he sounded intelligent. It is possible to sound intelligent and still be respectful, if in fact you are actually intelligent (which I assume he is). He reminds a little of Grayson Allen tbh.

Haha, this is exactly what we need. A Trump to English translator.

Now can you tell me what he meant when he said the leaks were absolutely real, but the news was fake?
Checked my translation, leaks are actually happening but the story that I had Russian contact before the election is a lie.

We've had an orator in chief, I'll take straight talk

I don't care if you like him or not, but comparing him to Allen is completely uncalled for. No one deserves to be compared to a dookie.

Agreed. That was a shot below the belt. Immediately rescind and apologize. Minimum 5-day OOTB ban.

Outside of his terrible appointment for education I don't hate him. I don't dislike him any more than I disliked Obama tbh. He definitely has a little GA in him though.

Trump is so far out of his league he has no clue what the hell he's talking about. And all of his cock remoras here are sucking it up. Idiots!

I missed this when I watched it earlier:

I think maybe those daily calendars like "W" used to generate are going to make a comeback.

P.S. Remember people thought those curtains were Muslim prayer curtains when Obama had PC's in the same location?

QUESTION: I just want to get you to clarify this very important point. Can you say definitively that nobody on your campaign had any contacts with the Russians during the campaign? And on the leaks, is it fake news or are these real leaks?

TRUMP: Well, the leaks are real. You’re the one that wrote about them and reported them; I mean, the leaks are real. You know what they said, you saw it, and the leaks are absolutely real. The news is fake because so much of the news is fake.
So one thing that I felt it was very important to do — and I hope we can correct it. Because there’s nobody I have more respect for — well, maybe a little bit but the reporters, good reporters.

Reporter: When you call it "fake news," you're undermining confidence in our news media ...

Trump:No, no. I do that. Here's the thing. OK. I understand what you're -- and you're right about that, except this. See, I know when I should get good and when I should get bad. And sometimes I'll say, "Wow, that's going to be a great story." And I'll get killed ...
But I know what's good. I know what's bad. And when they change it and make it really bad, something that should be positive -- sometimes something that should be very positive, they'll make OK. They'll even make it negative.
So I understand it. So, because I'm there. I know what was said. I know who's saying it. I'm there. So it's very important to me.
Look, I want to see an honest press. When I started off today by saying that it's so important to the public to get an honest press. The press -- the public doesn't believe you people anymore. Now, maybe I had something to do with that. I don't know. But they don't believe you. If you were straight and really told it like it is, as Howard Cosell used to say, right?

“Tremendous surge of optimism in the business world… That used to mean, ‘oh that’s good.’ Now it means, ‘that’s good for jobs.’”

Sorry Strum, but if you have an ounce of faith in the news media, then that's an ounce too much. They have had a liberal agenda for a long time now. Reporting the news in a fair and balanced manner has completely gone by the wayside. Trump is not undermining people's faith in the media, the media itself has already done that themselves with their blatant dishonesty.

That's an awful lot of hyperbole. So are we to throw out the baby with the bathwater?

I don't know if I would say it was hyperbole. Even democrats/liberals trust in the media has gone down in recent years, so it's not just a republican/conservative belief.

Indeed it's not. The American people have less faith in the integrity of the media every day. That is on the media, they're the ones responsible for this erosion of faith and they must be held accountable for their dishonesty.

“The liberty of the press is indeed essential to the nature of a free state; but this consists in laying no previous restraints upon publications, and not in freedom from censure for criminal matter when published. Every free man has an undoubted right to lay what sentiments he pleases before the public; to forbid this is to destroy the freedom of the press; but if he publishes what is improper, mischievous or illegal, he must take the consequences of his own temerity.”

Blackstone’s Commentaries, 1765

How can you trust the media? Everything is overly dramatical no matter what the issue is...

Having worked at oceanfront hotels on Wrightsville Beach through college, when Jim Cantore would come down for hurricanes...I have literally been standing on the beach during his broadcasts where he's acting like hell has broken loose...and I'm standing there with a light breeze. But the Weather (I mean "fear mongering") Channel plays the Halloween Music intro with some clip of a poorly-installed street sign hanging diagonally...and leading you to believe the world is caving in.

Whenever there is some other disaster, they're so quick to jump on it (cue in the Halloween Music intro again).

They will do whatever it takes to generate ratings, while the truth gets pushed further and further aside. And social media has exponentially increased these efforts...they will jump on tweets and facebook posts as if it's fact (see the police shootings). Isn't it odd that someone's husband is being shot by a cop, and the first thought of the wife is to grab the phone and record? The entire thing just reeks...but they media coverage will run with it so long as they have viewers and clicks.

With issues like Trump -- you never get the full context. Ever. They will slice up entire paragraphs and present you with a collection of snippets to change the narrative of what he actually said.

So, again...what credibility do they have left? Are you that naive? (rhetorical question, by the way...no need to reply).
