That's not what u really meantThe point is I think he did as well as he could. Very low bar......
I watched all of obamas sotu addresses. He was a great orator. But let's face it being a community organizer isn't a great resume. That's the main problem with American politics in 2018. Very, very few people can be objective. Virtually no one is brave enough or honest enough to say "you know what, your argument on that convinced me. I've changed my mind." I don't know if it was my education as a journalist or what, but IMO, I'm able to look at most things with an open mind and be objective, even if I agree with something. I wish more folks could do so.
Like I said before, politics is all confirmatory bias now. Democrats probably didn't watch last night, so therefore there's 0% chance they were swayed on anything the president said. I'm sure many Republicans didn't watch Obama's SOTUs. It's all confirmatory bias.
ou listened to urban America radio?I'm completely aware of that. But it's not just upstate South Carolina, dude. Not by even a remote long shot. Rural America anywhere is like this.
What did the scarfs they all were wearing mean?@heelbent @tarheel0910 and anyone else who watched.... and this kinda goes along with my discussion about how I believe it's impossible now to sway people who are on 'the other side.'
I was arguing with my buddy about this (also a Republican who went to Carolina; we may be the only ones who aren't from the North). At one point in the speech, Trump made note that African-American unemployment rate is at an all-time national low. They panned to the black caucus, none of whom stood or clapped in response to this, when lots of other folks stood. I do not know for sure if CNN and other outlets showed the black caucus. Fox News did. Supposing the other news outlets showed it.......my buddy thinks that blacks saw that and will get irritated by it and it will make them angry and demand more/change from black Democrats. Y'all buy that at all? I don't think it makes one lick of difference. If they did see it, blacks will just be in agreeance with not standing or clapping. And it's not a racial point I'm making. I'm just saying that I think it's impossible to sway people now.
For those that watched, how awesome was that story of the North Korean guy? He overcame a lot to get where he is today.[/QUOTo

It looked like an African reference to me and that's fine so don't call out others for their heritage. They had cold necks? Or maybe some unsightly hickies?

I highly doubt that Trump ever refers to black people as nigggers. I don't believe Donald Trump is racist to that extent. I think that people who DO refer to blacks that way, in a derogatory, insulting way, tend to be his more fervent supporters. But, I don't really believe that Trump thinks blacks are inferior people. He probably gauges people by their wealth status than ethnicity. He has no idea what being poor is like.
That made me lol cause I know what you are doing. That makes sense. I would figure that African necks, which are used to warmer temps, are cold in DC in January.
I don't recognize that name.Have y
ou listened to urban America radio?
You are right as usual. There's not a liberal radio or tv show out there. So carry on.I don't recognize that name.
There's a local show from 5 to 6pm called "Upstate Live" with Joey Hudson. I listen to that occasionally, if I happen to be driving at that hour. I've actually called-in on that show a few times. They needed a voice of opposition, so I provided that.

There's no "liberal" radio show around here, that I ever heard about. Dennis Prager, then Sean Hannity, then Upstate Live, and then I don't know. I dunno what's on before Prager, either. You are right as usual. There's not a liberal radio or tv show out there. So carry on.
My point is why do they need to applaud Trump for it? He’s taking credit. The dook fan in your analogy didn’t help you get the job and make bank.
FTR, I find the endless applause in the speeches silly. I’m a ‘hold your applause till the end’ type of guy.
