Too many points......

Oklahoma in the regional finals in 2009 was his best coaching in a game performance. He was on point.

Please explain how Roy beating a vastly overmatched, one-man-show team with his most talented and complete team ever was his best coaching job. That's peculiar.

Because he wasn't stubborn and did what he had to do. Instead of being arrogant and allowing that one man to even get going. It's not like we won by 20 points. Like an over matched Boston College that year.

One player can carry a team in a one game situation.

Against OU? We were up by 21 with about six minutes left so it was kind of a blowout. We kind of blew everyone out in that tourney though. IIRC, LSU gave us our best game. That could be wrong though.

72-60 was the final score.

32 to 23 at the half.

We only outscored them by 3 in the 2nd half. Wayne Ellington killed them with baseline jumpers.

Yeah, we were up by ten or more the entire game (and around 15-21 for parts of it). It was never really a game.

Well, Giles had knee surgery in October, Bolden has not lived up to his 5* rating, Tatum will be a lottery pick and Jackson was never thought to be a 1 and done.

I hope they all stay as long as they like.

Keep in mind that Meeks, Hicks and PInson are the highest 5*'s still in college from their recruiting classes.

Maybe you can answer this question for real. With all the PT available and UNC fans thinking they are big man u, why have no 5*'s committed?

This is to easy! LOL

First, Giles, Giles did not have major reconstruction surgery in Oct, he had more of a clean up from prior injury. What he had was classified as minor, don't try to spin that as major surgery because as you should know, he would have been done for this season if it was a major deal like his prior 2 were. Who was it again that brought in a kid with 2 prior major proceedures done one to each knee? Pretty sure it was K...maybe bringing him in was not the best decision?

Bolden, yet again, similar to Jeter way over hyped and yet who was it that brought in that way over hyped player or players, was it K? Are you being critical of K for bringing in back to back classes of over hyped players, for bringing in a walking medical join disfunction case? Jackson, yet again, seems like more hype than player, maybe K sould pay less attention to the hype of a player and more attention to how one will play? And Tatum, had a solid game vs us for sure but what was it, a game or 2 before duke fans were talking how much of a black hole he was and how he was not much of a team player and yet now you want to use him as a one & done? LOL

Now as for Meeks and Pinson, maybe what is best for ya is to pay less attention to recruiting sites and more attention to the players ability. Did YOU see either Meeks or Pinson as one & done level players? That is actually what 5 star indicates is that the player is projected as being a NBA first round selection after their freshman season, so I ask you? If you are going to use their star rating against them then you would have ot believe they were both guys that should have entered the draft after their freshman seasons? To suggest that they should have is as dumb as suggesting both Bolden and jeter should as well.

Finally, you ask why we have not got more big men as of late? Have you been asleep for the last several years? Did you not know the issues we have had to face, the negative spin thrown at us from all sides? Yet, funny how we continue to have very good big men on our roster, the newest to the fold being Tony Bradley. We have missed on some considered most talented of their class but we have developed some considered to be lesser talented by both the hyped recruiting services as well as anyone's eye test and we have developed them in to very good players for our program. Simply look at pretty much our top 4 players in our front court, if they were duke players Tony is the only one that would maybe play but even he would more likely get the Jeter treatment.

And dukie, the bad news for you is the perception of UNC is beginning to change in the recruiting world. You tell me man, how do you feel about your chances with Knox? LOL

Great talent also has to have the smarts to win championships. It's not just this team tbh. There are a lot of teams out their like that. A teams ability to anticipate or lack of reflects in that.

There is a reason we lose to Duke and it's not talent.

Having said that...Roy's best coaching jobs are in when he has less talented or experienced teams.

Gonna respectfully disagree on a couple points jeans, first as to duke having an edge on us for the last few years. IMO, it does have more to do with talent level than anything else, coaching can only take you so far, your players ability to execute on the court has to take you the rest of the way and that goes to 2 things, raw talent and their development. Be slightly behind in either of those and it is a problem and duke simply put has been able to put payers of more talent against us. The fact that we have been so close with lesser talent but the talent we do have be so well developed is impressive on its own. A kid like Jeter for example would play for us, he may make mistakes as a freshman but he would come back a much improved player. We see that year after year with Roy's players, look at Brice, look at Hicks or Meeks now, look at Luke Maye.

As for Roy's best coaching, frankly I think by far his best coaching year, maybe in his life was the season we went to the NIT, Henson's freshman season. That team was so devistated by injury that we set a new record for games missed by players due to injury, in fact we blew the old record away. We had 3 starters have season ending injuries, we had a freshman PG that had never played PG before, we even had to have a wing play a game or 2 as our PG. WE had to have players switch positions multiple times and it got to the point where Roy had no idea who would play or at what position until just before game time. How he even managed to have us in any way competitive was a remarkable coaching performance, much less see us play in the finals of the NIT and in the eyes of many, proven by advancing so deep in that NIT, should have been a NCAAT selection.

With all that we have had to face, outside of that injury plagued season, pick any of the last 3 or 4 seasons and IMO what Roy has been able to cobble together IMO is much more indicitive of great coaching than either of his Natty teams were. But if I had to pick one I would pick last season, got us to the natty game in spite of all the tidal wave of negative press seen multiple times in every game we payed, Marcus and Justin is near season long shooting slumps, Meeks fade from December on, and yet some how we got to the title game? Pretty amazing considering all the things we had to over come and yet we made it to the final game played.
