Gary it's hard to understand your thought process. I know I'm a Duke fan and I know me even responding could be frowned upon and so I'm definitely not going to get on any soap box on a Carolina board but it really is difficult to understand where you are coming from and I hope that isn't out of line. Apologies if so. Just seems like the Olympics and representing the country should be bigger than this.

I feel the same way gary-7. Feel pretty sure they will get the gold, but not really concerned. I don't like the head coach and never will. All dukies can take that to the bank. Don't like the unfair advantage him coaching this team gives him and don't think any college coach should be head coach. All college coaches should be on a level playing field. Don't like the lack of playing time Harrison is getting either. Hard to pull for many of the NBA players because I don't really like most of them.

It's not difficult at all if you see your coach for what he is.

And ya know, Bur, the first go-round with the Rat I pulled for the team for USA sake with the idea he's just another coach in the rotation. But once he wheedled his way onto his unfair position in USA Basketball, that was it. Now I just sit with my arms figuratively folded and wait for another Olympic sport to pop up on TV. Speaking of which, Michael Phelps rules!

Just me, but basketball was never an Olympic sport. Nor golf. Growing the game...blah, blah, blah, line some pockets, blah, blah....
Summer, give me track and field, decathlon, swimming/diving, wrestling, weight lifting, gymnastics or all the original more traditional events.
 
Agreed. I dont cheer for certain guys in the NBA, now i have to cheer for them because they are playing against another country? Na, im good. I will continue to not root for Coach K, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant ect.. hell I remember cheering for czech republic in hockey when i was a kid, because my favorite player on my home town team was czech. Pretty much my whole city were czech fans when he was in the olympics.

Unless he is an abuser of children, a criminal, victimizing people, or an enabler of someone with the referenced criminal characteristics then I'm sorry I don't understand.

Phony? Teaches flopping? Curses too much? Taking advantage of USA basketball to get access to recruits? Lance Thomas cover up? Yes I believe I get your disdain, and what I'm saying is that even "IF" all of the aforementioned were true, I don't understand why any of that would give you pause for being all in rooting for this team. K is a West Point graduate and I assure you that he cares about this team, about representing the country to the best of his ability and is doing everything he can to bring another gold medal home to our beautiful country. Other countries don't care one bit about K. Their one and only goal is to defeat the USA.
 
I'm glad I don't have such a problem.... now if Australia makes the gold medal game and Bogut is healthy and the refs swallow their whistles and Carmello misses every shot then we'll both rejoice in seeing the rat lose.
 
I don't particularly like the team or the coach honestly. Add to that a general distaste for nationalism and I'm about as lukewarm as it gets.
 
It's damn near impossible for me to root against anybody with USA on their chest. But for the record, I'd root for an all-star team made of the Russians and violent alien imperialists over any team named dook. Even with the future of the world in peril, an earth saved by dook basketball is not a place I'd want to live anyway. Beam me up! Go Klingons. Duck fook.

Not gonna comment on the original premise of this thread .However I wll ask... WTH is happening with this Olympic team???? They are JUST BARELY winning games..... the last two or three games etc.. Life and death with FRANCE???? They apparently do not play D. I have not watched more than a minute of the entire tourney so I cannot speak to their lack of D

This was Dream Team 2 according to many and many also thought they would blow out every one they played by 30 a game. Well that sure has not happened.

Vader has always emphasized D according to his minions at UNJ Derm and in the adoring media. Looks like he isn't reaching this team.

You support your country or you don't. You can try and justify that crap all day because you are petty and can't be a grown up and handle an opposing coach coaching the team.

Saying I wouldn't be upset if they lost is a chicken's way of saying I put my pettiness over my country.

Yeah, I'm always going to pull for USA in any sport but this group of guys/coaches are super unlikable.

K and Kyrie for obvious reasons, Melo isn't likable, Durant isn't liked cuz of GS, Draymond for all his antics lately, Boogie for all his antics always. Lowry and Derozen are relative unknowns for the casual fan.

PG13 is really the only charismatic guy out there.
