Travelling.

They call it when it suits them. Carrying/Palming is even worse. EVERYBODY carries the ball on nearly every possession. Refs call it about once every 20 games, all too often against UNC.

So the new thing in vogue for the tv people is the "euro-step", dribblers are not allowed to push off with their off arm/hand, occurs all the time but never called, mentioned above palming occurs on every trip down court, never/rarely called...although I recall we were called for it once at home this season and the coaches let the refs know it is both ways ALL the time...

dookies are crying about him also getting fouled ... which probably did occur AFTER THE OBVIOUS TRAVEL.

The zebras always punk themselves in Derm . . the only whistle they were going to blow was for a foul, and when that didn't happen, they were absolutely stunned, so they just froze.

Plain and simple, UVA got the shaft last evening.

It also occurred after Allen cleared space by again initiating contact and running over the guy. Of course, he had gotten that call multiple times over the last ten minutes of the game so was probably expected it. The fact he continues to get that call is a bigger issue than a travel that was pretty tough to see in real time. The college game has devolved into a game of finding creative ways to create contact to trick officials.

hey the guy traveled and pushed off but to the dookies none of that matters.... The W is all that counts Win at any and all cost.... that is the VADER way!!!!!!! BTW did that jerk Vader actually COMPLAIN about the officials in his post game??

If so, he continues to set new records as the biggest ahole in sports.

And there is no better teacher of the dark arts than lord Vader himself.
I have seen refs pull dook's chestnuts out of the fire so many times that it no longer even phases me, I expect it. And winning is all that matters to dook fans, much like their coach.

The LOM has become my least favorite college basketball coach, and that says something. I have come to the conclusion that I have been doing Bobby Knight an injustice by nicknaming K Knight LIte. Bobby was a royal jerk but he was what he was and never pretended to be otherwise. He ran a clean program and never would have tolerated, let alone taught, the bush league antics the self proclaimed LOM has made an integral part of his program. I have zero respect for the man. He now represents many of the most negative aspects of sports.

Leader Of Men, indeed.

He actually took two quick steps and then jumped and put the shot up while his body was coming down.

Did you actually watch the video you posted? NBA refs thought that was a walk AND an up and down.

Why you guys feel the need to defend the fact you get all the calls is beyond me? Just man up and own it.

Clearly a travel or an up and down whatever ... I don't agree with it but I understand the swallowing of the whistle ... Now let's beat these clowns by 20

Exactly. If it had been us and DES had been on the bench, we would have gotten the same treatment.

The difference is we wouldn't have (and don't) run around like a bunch of pussies trying to act like the refs made the right call.

It is very clear, he took 2 steps before he went up, came back down before the ball left his hand, it was a easy and crystal clear travel.Duke players get away with a lot of travels before they go up for a shot, witness the Austin Rivers solo dance of what, 5 steps or so before he went up for the shot? But for them to give them that one when it was such a clear up & down, yeah K, that is amazing for sure...

Can you imagine the LOM's reaction had the refs made the correct call? It would have been a meltdown of monumental proportions. He was poised on the brink.

We're getting closer to seeing it every game , Gary.
The more this POS Rat can rely on his players to get it done on some sort of fashion within the rules, the less Rat has to employ and rely on his BS intimidating tactics to get wins. AND VICE VERSA. Obviously with this year's team he has to rely heavily on those tactics.

puke sux!
rat king sux!
punkson allen sux!
refs in HIS sux!

Go Tar Heels!

Being coached by a REAL Leader of REAL Men, most decidedly does not suck!

Allen is the real victim here. The rules should not have been made to limit is movement in such a key moment.

Yea and UNC never gets calls. OK pal. Did you forget when Tyler Hansbrough was at UNC and the defender would breathe on him and he would be on the line?

That got him far in the NBA, on the end of the Hornets bench.

Nope, douchebag. But I do remember that punk from dook breaking Tyler's nose with a cheap shot. It was the only way your little fairies we're going to stop him from taking advantage of your women down low.

In Tyler's defense that dook breath can be pretty foul. Not sure what you boys put in your mouths

Wow. Among dookie douche-bags, you are an especially douchey one --- not to mention rather stupid.

Gary, would not you expect the ACC Office to at least make a statement concerning this GAME DECIDING HUGE MISTAKE...??? No guts in that arena (imo)...
I told one of my buddies that a job I would LOVE to have would be a supervisor of officials --- hell, call it a "Zebra Czar". I can tell you I would enforce some accountability and/or hold open auditions for NCAA officials.
First rule I would start with is travelling.... and it's really a very simple rule that hasn't changed. The first foot that touches the floor after a player gathers the ball is the Pivot Foot --- if you lift that foot you must get rid of the ball before that foot hits the floor again. It's really that simple.
Allen's Pivot Foot was his right, and if he was gonna shoot a legal runner he should have thus jumped off his left... but lo and behold he kept going and his right foot returned to the floor, i.e., travelling.
Funny thing is, in my experience playing, coaching and yes, reffing, it's often the awkward looking steps that catch the ref's eye --- hell, back in the day some zebras (Lenny Wirtz) would call walks even when they weren't just because it looked different --- well they don't get much more awkward looking than that wrong-footed runner Allen put up, and one that was without a doubt travelling.

No question that the top tier NCAA players DO get a lot of calls .... but this is largely because they have the ball in their hands far more than most other players. Hansbrough got fouled A LOT because he was a physical player who craved contact - he literally could have shot 30 free throws a game if the refs had allowed it - and yes, he could have been called for half a dozen offensive fouls a game too.

White Whiplash, on the other hand, creates the appearance of contact when there isn't any - he runs full speed, out of control, into the lane and recoils like he's been hit by sniper fire the second he has the slightest contact with another human body.
