Trevon Duval suspended...

Well, a bunch of your brethren suggested we get the death penalty for something that goes on at literally..yes literally..every power 5 school in the NCAA.

Sooo..let's start there with the negotiation and see where you respond.

Literally every school in the country has no-show classes where the secretary grades the papers by occasionally skimming the content?

Haha start there? I asked what would you suggest the punishment be for three freshman ditching a class.

Yeah, I responded.

You should ask Duval and Bagley for some of those reading comprehension classes that got them from being D students in high school to being academically qualified to enroll in one of the most exclusive universities in the country.

Didnt know you had access to their academic transcripts.

You do realize Duval and Bagley couldn't get into the local community college, right? stop trying, it's embarrassing.

Uh... yes?

Any legitimate college has independent study classes, which are nearly always "no-show". That is the point, there is no lecture. And university professors aren't the ones grading papers the majority of the time in all classes. It is typically TA's (grad students) or someone else lower paid they can delegate that work to.

Well that is a cutie pie reply so lets test it out.

No Show classes - At duke, are there any "no show" classes? Are there no online classes, are there no Independant study classes available at or thru duke for athletes? The numbers of duke athletes taking the very "no show" classes you enjoy lobbing bombs at us over would shock you, it would be the vast majority of them by the way.

Graded by secretary - At duke are all athletes papers graded only by the professors? Did you realize that at most colleges (actually pretty much all of them) professors rarely if ever grade, it is rather someone designated by the department head to perform the grading. It is pretty much up to the professor as to whom he designates. Now it may sound good to you to use the secretary as your example problem is it is not rare for regular students or athletes.

Skimming the content - Again, pretty sure you enjoy the ways that sounds when aimed at us but yet again, it fails the look test. How hard the work is considered is again, at the discretion of the professor and while some are tuff some are not. Some, at all schools including your dukies, just look to make sure something was done and turned in and the content is not considered .

So you kinda fail bad in that smart alec reply but let me ask you this, how does duke keep its scholarship athletes eligible? Considering we all, including the SEC btw, recruit the same kids. Thats right, duke recruits the very same educationally challenged kids that we do, that every other program in power conferences do. So how do you think duke not only gets them but keeps them eligible? Do they magically gain intellect simply by walking on a duke campus, is that what you believe happens? Moving past the silly nonsense, duke, just like every other program in the power conferences have to make "special provisions" not available to their typical students to keep them eligible.

Do you recall the article written a few years back about the ESPN outside the lines special discussing how duke keeps athletes eligible? Be glad to link it for ya but it was written by a former duke employee and discussed what we all know, that duke athletes are placed in special programs with program friendly professors that give them what ever grades they need to remain eligible. And yet you feel the need to come here and lob BS bombs at us for doing exactly what your program does? Do you hypocrite full time or just partime while on message boards?

You do realize UNC admitted to long-standing fraud, and that UNC was put on academic probation by the accrediting agency, right?

Holler at me when Duke admits to academic fraud and is put on probation.

Oh, and how do I think Duke keeps kids eligible? By doing exactly what K did. Rigorously monitoring their academics and suspening 3 kids 1 week into the season for missing class or being tardy. It's called accountability.

Literally every school has "no-show" classes. In fact, dook has had starters taking nothing but those classes in a given semester --- something that has never happened at UNC. The unfortunate fact that it turned out a secretary was grading papers in some classes had zero to do with the fact that the many students --- athletes and non-athletes --- who were taking those classes at UNC were doing the actual work required.

In other words, you jackasses who somehow think it's clever or acceptable to stink up our board with your unwanted trolling can suck it. You've got nothing and you never did. Now go take a (much-needed) bath and worry about your own house-of-cards. Hopefully a cleansing wind will blow that facade down soon.

...if you actually think that's how dook keeps players eligible? Well...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Your entire "student-athlete" regime is a massive fraud, especially basketball. All I can say is it's a good thing for you dook is a private school with no external accountability.

We do have to give Coach K credit though. He did keep Grayson Allen accountable for his numerous tripping incidents with that indefinite (one game) suspension.

The university has already admitted the AFAM classes were fraudulent. I am not sure what you are actually defending at this point.

The difference is that the UNC players were not at fault that the classes were lax in grading and that they were ran amiss. They completed the work asked of them.

In this scenario with the suspensions, the Duke players are at fault.

That said, this topic is more of a jest at them being suspended for an exhibition game of no note. No one is really seriously debating the academic status of Duke, which is a highly rated institution, and UNC, which is one of the highest rated public universities.

So you do not deny that duke kids are involved in academic fraud you just enjoy the fact that duke does not admit the wrong they are engaged in? Really, in your world that makes it okay dokie? LOL

Wait now, how many games are they being so strictly taught these lessons, you say 1 week in to the season but I think the truth actually is they were not allowed to play in last night's exhibition game. Just so ya know, exhibition games are actually not part of the season, didn't ya know that? LOL

Now for some common sense, you are telling me that you believe that duke, when getting the very same educationally challenged athletes everyone else is getting turns them around by enforcing they are in class? OK, so a kid that is already WAY behind (I suggest you really understand educationally exactly where these kids really are) and force him to be in a classroom where he is lectured about something well above his educational level and ability to understand and that is the solution?

Do you not understand or do you just not realize what is going on?

Not defending anything, buttwipe. The classes were quite real. The supervision by the department was at fault. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry if that gets in the way of your false troll narrative.

Your entire basketball program is fraudulent. Cheating your asses off in recruiting and making a joke of the "student-athlete" concept. Now GTFO. You and your ilk are not welcome here.

Wish y'all wouldn't respond to these idiots.
Would you please block them? We hear about Heels fans being blocked on rival sites all the time. Why aren't Duke, UK & State fans blocked here? They're allowed to troll at will. Recent threads make you wonder if you're on a UNC or Duke board. Half the posts are by Duke fans. You have the power to change this. Please do what you have the power to do.

If you're coming here to start trouble, you deserved to be banned every time.

Many that come here are not interested in civil, respectful discussion. The ones that do are welcome and frequently pop up on the board.

We ban too many people imo.

I actually think the "GoBlueDevils" guy should have the ban and not Timo.

Timo deserved to be ridiculed for defending the academic prowess of Trevon Duval on a UNC board but he wasn't being rude.
