So Flynn will testify against POTUS and that Kushner directed him to contact the Russians.

Who else is going down ? You know there's going to be at least another 3 or 4 . . . Don Jr., Sessions, Pence, Priebus.

We're very likely on the verge of discovering the greatest conspiracy against the United States of America . .

You know, I've been kicking back and watching today's news coverage and it eerily reminds me of the archival footage I've seen of the Watergate hearings.

It looks like the whole shithouse is going up in flames.

Definition of treason
: the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

He did this I guess.

Yep . . and it is so sad on this go 'round, it appears 45 was willing to trade sanctions for personal gain. How long in time and to what extent he and his cronies have been in bed with the Ruskies is yet to be known, I think money laundering seems like it's a known positive.
The big ticket is knowing that Mueller isn't reducing 20 years of prison time down to only 5 years for General Flynn lying on 4 separate occasions unless he has a story that a jury would believe.

So many Trump lies are now coming around to bite this dumb-shit in the fvcking ass . . . I'm loving this so very much.

For starters, Trump gets convicted of treason and is sentenced to 30 years in juvenile detention.
For starters, that ain't happening. And, this is from someone who thoroughly dislikes Donald Trump and even voted for Clinton in the election a year ago. But, DJT is not going to be "convicted of treason" at all. And, he sure as hell isn't serving any prison time. No way, no day.

Historically speaking, this could turn out to make some botched break-in and the ensuing coverup seem almost trivial in comparison.

Just wishful thinking. I'll be happy if the worst he gets is a pink slip.

Yep. This is going to be fun.

Where's the treason come in, I guess is my question.

Conspiring with a foreign power to manipulate the results of a US election would be prosecuted as conspiracy against the United States.

"If two or more persons conspire either to commit any offense against the United States, or to defraud the United States, or any agency thereof in any manner or for any purpose, and one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

If, however, the offense, the commission of which is the object of the conspiracy, is a misdemeanor only, the punishment for such conspiracy shall not exceed the maximum punishment provided for such misdemeanor."

(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 701; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(L), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2147.)

Firing the FBI director for investigating that conspiracy would be obstruction of justice.

They aren't going to do but so much because I am sure that the Democrats (Hillary, for sure) has buddied-up with Russians when it benefited them, and always will.

Agreed. But how are they saying the results were manipulated? Running some facebook ads or whatever they did may have influenced voters choices, but it didn't manipulate the results.

Ya, in my limited knowledge of what happened here, I'd say that's probably where they'll get him. Just like Clinton didn't get impeached for sexually assaulting those women, he just got impeached for lying about it.

I don't think it matters how or even if the results were manipulated. Its still conspiracy to defraud the US because you're conspiring and attempting to manipulate the outcome of an election in cahoots with a foreign state. Its not illegal just because it might have an outcome. The act of conspiracy is illegal so that aspiring American politicians don't make deals with foreign governments in the first place, regardless of how effective the resulting plan may or may not be.

Obstruction is the safe bet as to what will actually nail him. The fact that the investigation is only picking up momentum as Mueller digs deeper should worry even the most diehard Trump supporters.

I'm not sure you're fully accounting for his incompetence.

You mean that Hillary and the DNC covered their tracks better? That's possible. I'm just saying that I feel quite sure that these "leaders" are in cahoots more often than we'll ever know. I don't trust any of them. I highly doubt they're going to expose too much.

Yeah but its not like there's some kind of secret society where they all protect each other no matter what. It just so happens that rich powerful people tend to have similarly aligned interests. And when the loudmouth moron risks screwing things up for all of those other rich, powerful people, then they're going to distance themselves from him as quickly as possible. I don't think the elite economic/political class particularly cares if Trump gets thrown under the bus.

Its not just Hillary or the DNC. He's the most incompetent individual in American political history. I completely agree with you that there are institutional protections that serve the most powerful individuals. I do think it would take an exceptionally stupid person to get indicted as the POTUS. Trump meets that criteria.

Well, I will concede that DJT is in a class by himself. If anyone could fvck-up a cup o'coffee, it's him. His ego, lack of awareness of... most everything, and win-at-all-costs recklessness might do him in. He could easily "forget" that government deals are held to a different standard than private sector business shenanigans.

The ego could be the biggest factor of all. Any savvy politician would have the common sense to step out of the way long before they ended up in prison. They'd trade a pardon to the VP and go back to private life. Trump? Who knows...

No one appreciates the intelligent discourse here more than I, but in an effort to get this thread back on track . . .

So some of President elect Trumps team met with Russians and other countries, definitely illegal, lol. Is it always standard practice to collude with foreign countries to win an election after the election is held? Asking for a friend.
