UNC/Duke Game Thread - March 10, 2017

Keys to the game:
1. Hicks must stay out of foul trouble.
2. Berry and Pinson must take it to the basket. They can't stop the Heels driving to the basket.
3. Lean on Kennard...make him work.

Plus....
4. somehow make Dook run. Push the ball whenever possible. This is day three for them where they had to expend a lot of effort, in two close games. Can't let them slow down the game, and "rest" in some zone on defense. That would be helping them out, or giving away our advantage of being much fresher and deeper.
5. I hope there is a way we can get Justin Jackson dialed back in. Maybe it will help that this will be his second game shooting in this arena.
6. Still keeping them off the three line, or guarding it, is key. I don't care how many 3's Dook jacks up, as long as we stay home on shooters. That is where Dook's tired legs could really show, especially in second half of game in third straight day.
Like said above. The more aggressive the Heels can be, the more likely they will win. dook will be gassed if the Heels will play their game.
Gotta defend that elbow screen and roll effectively. Hopefully Theo will spend some time on Kennard instead of Britt, as he has show he can effectively shoot over Britt off that screen action.
Echo what has been said .....Pound it inside and defend that 3 . We can expect the BS touch/phantom fouls for dook resulting in gift points at the FT line. Gotta be as prepared for that as we can

Last game, our top 3 scorers were all off their game and we won by 25! We have had a bunch of peeps step up and lead us to victory. We have won slow and fast games. We have won against zone and man. We have won when we got a bunch of offensive rebs and when we didn't. We are picking up the defensive intensity at the proper time. AND suddenly HIcks is playing like the star we all thought he was! What would you do if they all put it together at the same time? I know....lose!

Of course I hope Duke wins, but I think you guys are correct.
The more running leans the game in your favor. It will be interesting how Hick, Berry, and Jackson counter Kennard, Tatum, and Allen. The point not mentioned is your crazy offensive rebounds stats. Somehow we will have to figure that one out....I don't know maybe box-out?

That's it .. RUN RUN RUN and if the primary and secondary break points aren't there POUND POUND POUND inside out. Play solid defense and put Theo on Kennard and make him work just to get the ball. Even though them d-bags may have some tired legs we still have to close out on the three's. Vegas has UNC @ -4 and I believe I'd take UNC if it was -8 ..
Kennard gonna get his. Don't worry about if he gets his 20-25. Pound it inside all the way around and don't let the other guys kill us. They don't go inside offensively and can't protect the rim very well. If we can hold them to only 2 guys having good scoring outputs from the perimeter UNC is good. It's when Dook has 3 or 4 guys get 15 + points that they are dangerous.

Keep feeding Kennedy. Won't take two more easy layups for them to start collapsing and opening up the jump shooters.
Jackson was fouled on the breakaway. Reminiscent to the end of first half layup versus Nova. He finished it though this time and I hope that is a good sign.
We are looking very good right now. So much so that the 3 point barrage by grayson hasn't really made much of a dent really.
To be fair, he hit Tatum on the head. Regardless, you guys are totally outplaying us tonight. When you're on your game, nobody's beating you. So many offensive rebounds. Amazing we're only down 7. Should be a fun second half.

JJ can't get a call. As predicted Trip is a jerk, I mean is jerking his head at every three. Got to hand it to him, how he keeps his eye on the rim while jerking his head backward is beyond me. Gonna be a close game. Need to keep focus and stay out of fouling.
