We need the inside to play. Meeks every single game this year has started out the game with 6 to 8 points in the first few minutes then disappeared all game besides against Temple.

Hey guys, haven't had a chance to watch the game yet but Northern Iowa is good, we played at their place, we didn't have our best player. No one expected us to go undefeated.
Roy Williams will never change. The only way you lose today is to not guard the 3 point line and he did so brilliantly today. Roy still thinks it's the 80's with his help off your man defense. This team isn't getting a smell of a National Championship because they simply don't play defense. Teams drive at will and either shoot a layup or kick for a wide open 3 pointer. Same story different year.
What do you expect. This is typical Roy teams. Dont guard the 3, dont call timeout to end a run, dont go to the players who are playing best. They will be fine, but its just the same team we have had past 5 years. Dont expect much.
And celebrate the Heels clinching a trip to Charlotte!!!

But the gameplan is atrocious against a smaller team. To allow 28 3-point attempts is terrible. It's a make or miss game after that, but you can't allow 28 3's in today's basketball. Especially against smaller teams. Bad gameplan.
I'm not going to throw the season down the drain just yet. we didn't play well and lost to a game UNI team. the concern has to be around the fact that we couldn't bury a team we were beating by double digits for over half the game. we had the same trouble last year and stumbled our way to double digit losses. I'll say it again, this team still lacks the mental and physical toughness. Aka in crunch time, we still show a lot of bitch tendencies. some of the ridiculously stupid shots, passes and fouls we saw late in the game today were a result of a team that panics when things get tight. that is not the sign of a championship team. even in national title years when we lost, our kids never panicked and we lost because we simply didn't match somebody else's best on that given day. it is alarming to see the deer in headlights look again this year after what we saw last year. Marcus will help, but not much if you still have 4 other kids out there (mostly upperclassmen) that still can't figure it out.
Proof once again that Roy can coach us to a loss against anybody! The stubborn approach and lack of adjustment, especially against 3 point shooting teams is like a broken record.
Yea good point. I have questioned the #1 ranking all along and thought this game would be a good measure... Tough loss for the Heels today.

Exactly what I've been saying. Ole Roy played the only way you could lose to this team. Hell, you could just guard the perimeter with 5 guys and UNI wouldn't score 50 points. But sag off the 3 point line, yeah that's brilliant against a 3 point shooting team with no size!
First game where the lost of Paige showing it's ugly head. Needed some senior leadership late and it just wasn't there. Perimeter shooting was off again and nobody could cover number eleven going to the hole and many tried and failed.
Brice and Fat Fat still have no mean streak to take over a game against an outmatched opponent inside, they continue to disappear which is pathetic. Joel didn't have his best game today but I think he'll be fine for us. Great to see Justin get back in rhythm. Nate Britt, as soon as we think he has turned the corner, he looks like a toddler trying to run down a gazelle. We are the same team we have been over the last few years at this point in the season. A double digit loss team that looks like the best team in the country some nights, but looks scared to death the next.
Damn, Roy Williams teams lose some games that there's NO way they should lose. The crap we've seen over the last 3-4 years is inexplicable.
I didn't see the game. Busy watching the Football Heels WIN THE COASTAL!!!! But you are just barking up the wrong tree. I said that a lot last year just as you are now. And some put me on the Roy Hater List. When I'm Glad he is our coach. People do t want to see his flaws. Still a great coach. But we have been saying the same thing for three years. Now N Iowa isn't a bad team. They made it to the 3rd round of the tourney last year. I bet you Coach K would never go on a true road game like this. But nonetheless I agree with what you said. But it will just go on death ears on this board. I said before the season that I wasn't jumping on the Natty bandwagon until I saw them play. I know we our without the biggest part of the team. But as I said before the season. It is still the same players as before. Not giving up on the Natty. We can do it. Just got to get better each game. And Coaches and players need to learn from there mistakes.
This senior core has never finished in the top 20 in defensive efficiency. I'm not alarmed... This is who they are.
Agree with sjung. A lot of fans and the media expected these guys to be something they aren't simply because they are older. Hell I'm in the mindset that if they haven't figured it out through 3 years, I'm not betting on them in the 4th year. This applies to defense, toughness, etc. we haven't stopped dribble penetration in quite some time. We haven't defended the 3 much at all under Roy, and we continue to get stuck with players who can't create their own shot or take advantage of their skill set to be successful.
While I agree this is not the type of road game K might schedule (we probably wouldn't have either if it weren't for Marcus), he also wouldn't have coached a Duke team to a loss in this game. They would have made adjustments, pressured the ball on the perimeter more, and stepped on this teams throat when up by double digits (all the things we didn't seem to do).
If people don't like it go be a Duke or Kentucky fan.... True fans deal with losses not bitch and cry all the time
Can't argue there. I was on of the few to not act like we were guaranteed a Natty. What it sounds like from what I read is. Same problem we have had the last two years. Stills not all lost. It's early and we will get Marcus back soon enough. GO HEELS!!!!!!
Oh so we should like losing to a team like Northern Iowa that out scored us 39-26 in the 2nd half?

People have been negative all year when we when by 20 or lose to a team that was playing their best game of the year and always compare what we should do to other schools in the country.... Should we of lost?? Not on paper but unfortantely that's why they play the games... And it's not the end of the world, we will play again Monday and still have a shot to win a National Championship in March... And I personally would never compare Roy or our players to another program.
It's a message board. It's for opinions. It serves as a place to vent for some people. People complaining doesn't make them any less of a fan. Nothing wrong with expecting more from an experienced team full of 4 and 5 star kids.

Yeah, Coach K would be SCARED to do a true road game at freaking NIU. Come on. You people get waaaay too wrapped up in this shit. Duke plays mostly neutral site games because the team of the city they are going to prefer playing in their big ass arena, not the small court they may play in. Much more money for them. I know you guys try and use every little thing you can as hate Duke ammo but some of it is absurd.
Oh, and it is DEAF ears, not DEATH ears, my man.
