The Duke loss hurt bad. I'm not forgetting that and am looking forward to the rematch. But actually looking at the standings this was a more important game.
And for the record, davey the sunshine boy here told yall we would win this game, with all that doom & gloom from the last couple days, told yall we would win this game! When this team has its back to the wall it comes out fighting.
That nonsense I have read since that duke game, lots of folks should be ashamed of what they said. And those folks that said they were done with this team, don't go all happy skippy now with this win.
And the odds that jung posts after this win are...slim and falling...I reckon he has to work again...

Final 96-71 as the Heels DESTROY the Canes. Not a bad game against the number eleven team in the nation. Nay sayers A W O L today for some reason...

If they shoot 9for 17 from 3 against dook they would of blew them out.

Can't say anything negative about today's game. The kids were great and Roy had them ready to play at the start of the game and especially the start of the second half.
Second unit of Meeks, James, Pinson and Britt gave the team some solid minutes off the bench especially point wise. Britt after Berry picked up his 4th foul did a wonderful job running the team so good that I do not remember seeing Berry in the last 10 minutes of the contest.
We just destroyed a team that has played better than Duke most of the year. Nice response by Roy, and the players. The ball was moving around very well.
I don't think a lot said after the Duke game was wrong. It was bad coaching. Paige isn't performing. He is one of the only ones who didn't do well again today tbqh.
We were 9/20 from 3. Take out the 3 from the reserves at the end. 9/17.

So I guess UNC has a chance of winning the title if they can get embarrassed and lose the game prior to it? LMAO. This team showing up the game after getting absolutely embarrassed means nothing. Big deal. You can drink the Kool aid all you want, this team has shown us for years what they truly are.
A TON of what was said was way over the top! I said myself that Roy should give his check for that game away because he didn't earn it and he didn't. But did ya notice an entire thread dedicated to "I am done with this team"?
And for the record, all that blaming that game on the players, that so many posters we all about AND BRUCE on his pod cast did as well, that was wrong, Roy gets 100% of that blame because the coach ALWAYS has one ultimate POWER IN ANY GAME, THE POWER TO PARK A KID THAT DOES NOT LISTEN TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BENCH NEXT TO HIM FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. I don't give a damn if we end that close game with blue steel in there rather than any of our regular players and we lose by 50, a coach with the balls to do that is earning his pay check. Now I said that Thursday and have no problem at all repeating and standing by anything I said over the last couple days. It was true then and it is still true and it will not become any less true. And ANY COACH worthy of the title of coach knows that is absolutely 100% spot on truth.
BUT NO, the line to blame Marcus and Joel Berry was out the door and wrapped around a couple of HUGE city blocks. That was embarassing for this Tar Heel fan to see, it was shameful !!!
Agreed. I don't see how people are blaming Marcus - even though he's having an awful year. At least you don't have to question the kids motor or heart. The only two I was really hard on after the game were Roy and Kennedy.
By the way, I really don't think anyone is "done" with this team. I just think that people care so so much that they say stupid sh&t. It's the nature of the beast. If we didn't care soo sooo much, we wouldn't be posting on a college sports forum LMAO.
You've just summed up 99.99% of the posts following the dook game. Unfortunately, and I've said this on here a heap, after a loss the best thing to do is not to post. If you're angry, go for a long walk, swim, cycle, or take it out on the bottle, whatever does it for you (and I hope doesn't hurt someone else)
Unfortunately many feel the need to spew out their most infantile rantings to an anonymous audience.... maybe because they know it's nowhere near socially acceptable to carry on like that in public.
Actually boss, YOU are the embarassment, folks like you that DEMAND every game be PERFECT. A loss and that was all that duke game was, a regular season loss, no matter when you look at the ACC standings what team actually LEADS the ACC today, now as well as right after that game against duke. Yet so many were ready to give up, we had no chance, the players are bumbs and kicking them off the team was not nearly good enough.
I sincerely, and I am being serious right now, I sincerely pray you do not hold yourself or those you really do care for in this life to the same standard you demand from UNC basketball players. Roy gets paid millions to take the heat but these players deserve a hell of a lot more, they deserve a heck of a lot more credit and respect than they have been shown since that duke game. There is not a single player on that team that enjoyed that outcome of that duke game and if you don't understand that every single one of them care a hell of a lot more than you do, then you don't even have the inkling of a clue.
And if you have a problem with that, I will be more than glad to tell you what you can do with your freakin Koolaide ! You damn right this team has shown us for many years, many many years what they are, they are the UNC basketball team and you can either support them or go find some other team to support. FACT is this UNC fan base will not miss you and duke & NC State fans will love you, go join one of them!
Oz, after a tuff loss, the majority of folks should ban themselves from posting for at least 24hrs because their feelings are guided by negative emotions. I hate to post after a loss, I NEVER post until the day day and some times longer.
BUT, I am OVER THE TOP PISSED at the ugly awful things I have read over the last couple days by folks that claim to LOVE UNC and this program...I heard Bruce & AJs pod cast this morning and got even more pissed, blaming a kid like Marcus is embarassing.
I had to sit 2ft from a HUGE duke fan all last week, had to be in the car with him alone for 3hrs every day last week. After that game I knew he would drill me, I was fine with that because he is one of the best friends anyone could ask for but we love to rib each other hard over stuff like this. It wasn't what he said that severly upset me, it was his pulling up THIS SITE and READING ME WHAT UNC FANS WERE SAYING ABOUT OUR COACHES AND OUR PLAYERS. In his words, I actually feel sorry for you David, YOUR OWN FANS ARE HARDER ON YOUR COACHES AND PLAYERS THAN WE COULD EVER BE...Thanks guys, can't tell ya how much I appreciate that...Oh, and thank you Bruce, yeah, stuff like that is why I have been such an argent supporter of this site?????????? I listened to the podcast yesterday and Bruce sounded like he was still halfway up a bottle of bourbon.
Have to admit, I only stay on this site for the board and after Wednesday I had doubts. There were a lot of "phantom" posters who flew in from parts unknown. Sadly they stirred up some regulars. The result was a lot of posters whom I've liked to read for a long while got caught up in the feeding frenzy.
As for the podcasts and any 'info' on the front page. I only like to listen to Clint and there's no other info available without paying (very much unlike TOS)

this the perfect place to vent...besides, most of these games end at times that make it unrealistic to get a masters degree in exercise and it's sure healthier than boozing it up.
Dsouthr I have been following u on this board for several years and respect your writing style and your willingness to not back down in your beliefs and thoughts because unlike many others you can ACTUALLY back up your statements with facts not hearsay and more importantly you are here everyday ALL YEAR long unlike some who only criticize and then SLITHER under a rock only to appear after a loss. Keep giving em Hell and do what you do best contribute solidly info to this board.

And yeah, I'm serious. OK, I get that this is a perfect place to vent but there's venting and there's being an a-hole and a lot of people vented like a-holes.
So the game ends near midnight and you can't "get a masters degree in exercise".... those were just examples of what you can do. My point was, jumping online and playing out a temper tanty on your keyboard is probably the most infantile of all possible reactions to a loss.
And, I want to clarify, I don't believe I'm a "sunshine boy" (its getting very Hatfield-McCoy around here) I too thought Roy and certain players deserved a fair bit of blame for the Dook loss I just didn't carry on like a spoiled 5yr old and I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would.
that's fair...but if you have been keeping score overall, especially the last couple of years, those criticizing roy and some players the most, me included, post during games, after wins, and of course after losses...i don't hold sport higher than family, health, or faith, but it's a passion of mine and at the same time a release...i will continue to be a critic of roy, fedora, fox, and other carolina coaches or coach/player of my favorite professional team.
