UNC vs Pittsburgh Official Game Thread

really starting to question hubert’s coaching ability. Dunn played a large portion of the last 5 minutes and he’s getting abused on defense and really no threat to score. Coincidentally we also haven’t scored hardly at all during this time.

i wouldn’t question it if hubert had actually played Dunn during early season matchups but didn’t hardly at all, now plays him during a key conference road game with him coming off an injury and christmas break. hmmmmm
Who would you have played? Nance was hurt. Trimble and Puff have been totally unable to score this season (both averaging only about 8 points per 40 minutes on low percentages), and Dunn is typically a solid defender. He'd also hit two good shots earlier in the game (a three and a pull-up two), when our bench provides next to no offense typically. I don't see a better option.

I din't see anything on replay that means the on court call, made by the the ref with the best view, should be overturned.

if i had to choose prob Puff. again, my assessment is based solely on the fact that he didn’t give Dunn much time at all against far less talented teams but yet gave Puff way more time. the timing of Dunn seeing that much time along with them scoring at will on him and then us not scoring for over 4 minutes simply just doesn’t add up. not a good move on his part.

I appreciate the memories Love gave us in the tournament last year but Im ready for him to be gone. Way too inconsistent to be relied upon. At this point its best to bring him off the bench to try to get a spark and when he’s hot you can keep him in the game

What an awful lineup at the end…had to have more size in! Hinson kid shot right over Dunn and Dunn could not rebound…Dunn was guarding a 6’7 freight train…makes no sense!

Jacked up 3 after 3
This is just not the right diagnosis of the issue. We dumped it down to Bacot plenty in the second half. You're simply not going to get a good post-up opportunity every single possession in high level ACC play, so your offense has to consist of more than post-ups to your center (if you're going to be a good team anyway).

You have to be able to create some advantages with your guards, either by beating their guy off the dribble, getting by the big in the pick-and-roll, or off a motion play. We couldn't do any of those things, so we were forced to take low percentage shots as the clock wound down. It wasn't an issue of poor shot selection, it was getting forced into bad shots because we couldn't get into advantageous positions.

We're supposed to have one of the best backcourts in the country, at least offensively. We should be able to do a heck of a lot more than we did today. Both Davis and Love played way below their standards. And it's not easy to see in the stats, but Leaky makes it a lot harder because he's such a non-entity on one end. His guy sags way off and when we do create an advantage the kick outs to him typically lead to resetting the offense rather than sustaining the advantage. Those three were the big issues, though Leaky's offense is mostly always like that so hard to fault him.

Got friends at the game today. Couldn’t stop commenting on how poor Love’s body language was today.
