So I won't start another one of "those threads" that the mods rightly don't like, I won't name UVA's Saturday opponent. Plus the opponent doesn't deserve to be named.

So....

do you think UVA will win? or will lose on Saturday? in their game on the road in Durham

do you want UVA to win? or to lose on Saturday?

There is some good and some bad for us in it either way. I know this is bad, but at this point I wouldn't mind seeing them lose. I just don't know how many more they will lose, and a loss by them would likely open up another full two game cushion for us in the ACC, if we win on Sunday.

I'm gonna go with the Hoos, with the caveat that they are not playing 5 against 8....
that and are they going with the reported 6 players who are AMAZING or the Capel 8? Except the Capel 8 is actually 8 plus the 3 zebras.

I'm pulling for a sink hole to open up right below the gym.

Weird. What's not to like about the UVa program?

I'm not gonna lie, duke has turned things around nicely. And we're currently in the shitter. I'm worried about our game against them next week now. 3 weeks ago, I scoffed at the idea they'd stay within 10 of us.

With that said, I think UVa's deliberate style, experience and intelligence rules the day in a close win.
Hoos - 73
duke - 70

GSD - I wish I could honestly disagree with your comments about where dook is and where we are but I can't. For the reasons you said I am worried about next wed. But I hope our guys don't look past Sunday.
About about our team
I am an eternal optimist - and our play the last couple weeks has made it very hard - but I just keep believing that the light will come on soon and they start clicking and play up to their abilities.

I still think if we play at 80% of capability but come with intensity and aggression we beat Duke at DES.

Dook is not that good especially on the road. Our bigs should OWN theirs

But in Cameron its a whole different set of "rules". UVA sure has the talent and player intelligence and coaching to beat them though. In Cameron they just have to outplay them by 10-12 to win by 2-4

I pull against dook unless the opponent is moo and then I pull for the team to lose that is most harmed by the loss.

It is too tough to win on the road. Both teams are playing pretty well and I think UVA is better. Not at Duke though.

Sorry, I guess I should have clarified that I wasn't including UVA. That being said I was trying to be facetious.

I always pull against dook.

I'm betting on UVA winning the ACC regular season as well. I love the Tar Heels, but that is how it is trending and I don't see it changing.

UVA will win...despite the usual " clock issues", endless touch fouls that help dook shoot many more FTs than the opponent, and the usual antics from Vader.

While I will say that the current UVA program and coach are not easy to dislike, if you grew up in the 80s watching the classic UVA vs UNC matchups with Ralph Sampson and the likes or teams that came after, it is not hard at all to dislike UVA. Maybe being from the state of Virginia created some of the additional dislike, but I really didn't dislike Dook or MooU anymore than I did UVA growing up!

=)

I did grow up in that era. My dad is a UVa grad and I met Ralph, Jeff lamp, Othell Wilson, Ricky Stokes, Terry Holland and scads of UVa players when I was a young kid. My dad had me dressed in UVa garb at a very young age. I was a UVa fan by default until I watched James Worthy play at friend's birthday party when I was 7 years old. I came home and told my dad I wanted to be a UNC fan (largely because all my friends were UNC fans). I was born in Charlotte and lived there until I was 12 years old.

I then moved to Lynchburg, VA. And when I was about 20 years old, I was talking shit to Curtis Staples, Harold Deane and Jamal Robinson during pick up games at the local Y when they had come to Lynchburg for the summer to live with a booster and work part time at his beer distributor.

But I love UVa. I think everything about UVa is so similar to UNC. The towns, the academics, the dominance of the entire athletic departments (granted UVa has really struggled throughout the years in revenue sports), the fans. I see them as a "sister school" to UNC. Bennett is a fantastic coach and a super nice guy (met him back in the summer). They do things the right way.

Putting duke and moo on the same level of hate as UVa seems extreme. But then again, my love for the Hoos is well known to some around here and I fully expect to be ribbed pretty hard by any of those posters that will read this thread.

Hahahaha...I hear ya Gunslinger and I wasn't trying to call you out, just using your post for context for what I was going to write. I just despised UVA as a kid and it has carried over for whatever reason. I will say however that over time, of course, my disdain for MooU and Dook grew exponentially higher appropriately.

One thing's for sure; Grayson Allen gets fouled more than any player in history!

How the $&@& is that not a travel?
It was a travel or as kids used to say on the blacktops "up and down". I replayed it in slow-motion and his feet clearly land back on the floor before he releases the ball.

Never want to see dook win but that helps us ...lets get Pitt then put these dookies back in the cellar where they should be

True. But it's only beneficial for us if we handle business. The next 3 games are against tough opponents but they are all at home. We need to win all 3. No ifs ands or buts. Have to get it done if we still have high hopes for this season.

Definite walk... Not sure that walk would be called against the home team in any arena... Sure as hell won't be called at Cameron.

Duke is all about getting the call right. Remember their football game against Miami? They were writing letters to the ACC office demanding the outcome be overturned. I'm sure they now want to award the win to UVa today after such poor officiating. I'll drop by their board and see if they are as outraged today as they were after the Miami football game.

He actually walked twice...that is how much of a classic home job Dook always cooks up at H.I.S.. If that is how UVA won, Dook fans would be saying the same thing.

You're not allowed to take 3 steps without dribbling the ball?
that's not what this guy says...

I always find it interesting how commentators haven't ANY reference to two visible violations.

Now, they're trying to even-it-out by claiming UVA fouled Allen, too and no call was made. I was frankly shocked that no foul WAS called. Grayson Allen attracts foul calls like sh*t attracts flies.

Allen walked all over the place . . 3 full steps.

LOL
He walked, twice in fact, but more like 2.2 steps and barely up and down. The refs are never going make that call though, against any team, not when it's that close. The fact that it was Allen @ Duke? Yep, that's got to piss off everyone. See ya'll Wednesday. Get ready for Allen to piss you off again. He does it to everyone we play.
