Was it La Salle being so bad or did Carolina REALLY tried to go inside so much in the second half?

Being at the game on Saturday I got a closer look at the contest than I would have had on TV and I noticed in the second half Carolina repeatedly got the ball deep in the paint and the bigs had a field day in the block. Was it just that La Salle played Matador defense in the paint or was it the coaching team decided to feed the bigs to see what they could do. Either way it was refreshing to see.

I truly believe this the biggest reason Tyson hit five threes from the corners because the defense was leaving him open to try and double down in the paint. Cade has a quick release like Manek did and he does not hesitate in shooting the rock.

But again the question is still out there was the Explorers defense just pitiful down low or did the Carolina bigs show big time improvement…

I think it has alot to do with it. I have said all year you don't have to be effective on the block you just need to show it to them, and you will get some cleaner looks.

My concern is that it took 10 games to figure it out and even more concerning that they wanted to try that shit show offense to start with.

Dont get me wrong our front court is a mess and not final 4 material, but the team can be better than what they have been.

With that said you will know Tuesday if there has been a change because Florida is going to be a hand full.

For me the answer is yes...😆 LaSalle is a small front line, even for a small mid major. Our "bigs" were able to garner respect, which opens up different options in and out.

Yeah .. they played UNC defense and didn't close out on the hot jump shooter (Cade obviously). Take out Cade and UNC was 5-31 from 3 for a whopping 16% ... EC had a very STINGY 7 dimes and only got 24 minutes. This team has big time issues with player use, lack of team chemistry development and that's coaching even though some will deny, and even defend, it. FL will be a much better gauge of their progress or lack thereof. jmo GO HEELS!!

LaSalle is 289th in the country in 2PT defense so it's probably a sign that they struggle defending near the rim.

We'll see what's real and not going forward

But this team needed a game like LaSalle. It's been a while since they put a somewhat complete W together.

I honestly think the main problem we are experiencing is the talent evaluation is really poor. I don't care what approach on either end of the court YOU prefer, hard to see anyone argue that no matter what approach a coach wants he MUST bring in the talent that fits his preferred style of play. IF, you discover that the talent you have does not fit your preferred style of play you MUST adjust your approach to fit the talent you do have. I simply can not give this staff a passing grade in either of these important aspects. My concerns wiht this staff sadly are not limited to these 2 aspects but these 2 may top the list.

I’d like to hear your other concerns, as I have others besides these two as well…

I will absolutely share that with you and the board but may I wait until tomorrow, I would rather just think about this game vs UF for now. If for some reason I do not answer your request by all means PLEASE remind me, not in any way looking to avoid your question.

We might disagree a bit on that. I think the staff knows exactly what they have so the evals may be spot on. However, the deployment and use, or consistent non-use of the right players is like you said, "insanity". Ball and stats don't lie and if I can see it anybody and their cousin can. If this is the hill hubcap wants to die on he may well get his chance if he doesn't change something pretty soon. jmo
